Weekly Drug Purity Report

Cathinones sold under familiar names

Samples sold as mephedrone or 3-MMC have contained other cathinones. The report highlights 4-CMC and NEP in particular. NEP is a substantially more potent stimulant, so taking an unexpectedly substituted sample as though it were 4-MMC presents a different risk.

Scam of the Week

These are substitutions documented in the report’s tested samples, not claims that they occurred in every country where this post is read:

  • Sold as MDMA → contained PMMA: 2 samples.
  • Sold as 3-MMC → contained 4-CMC: 6 samples.
  • Sold as 4-MMC → contained NEP: 3 samples.
very interesting, great update as always thanks.

doing a bit more digging on the methedrone side of things (because I like a bit of drone)

correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that what's happening here is that the precursor bans in 23/24 are finally taking effect after the precursor stockpiles have started drying up, in parallel the china to stan to russia to EU route has come under a lot of international pressure and volumes have reduced considerably.

so we're left with a lot more NEP (which isn't as well researched in terms of harm), and/or more 4-CMC which is known to be more toxic.

well that's a shame, looks like I'm going to stop buying m-cat in that case unless I can find a decent vendor and get it tested.

Spot on. One more relevant piece of context: another EU-wide control on drug precursors has just taken effect. Eight of the newly controlled precursors are linked to the production of 3-CMC, 3-MMC, 4-CMC and 4-MMC.

It is too early to say exactly how this latest measure will affect supply or substitution patterns, but it may add further pressure to the market you describe:
thanks that's interesting, I didn't know about the new ban.

would expect people will just stock pile before the ban though so will take a while to ripple through in effect

Expected: 3-MMC. Detected: NEP (95%). Location: Berlin, Germany. Date: 2026-09-15. Source: drugchecking.berlin.

3-MMC, the replacement of 4-MMC (Mephedrone), is getting harder to find in Europe.

In the past months we have recorded compounds such as most notably 4-BEC, 4-BMC, 4-CMC, 2-MMC and NEP sold as 3-MMC or 4-MMC. Researchers warn that the novel cathinones could be escaping their simplified expected pharmacological profile, therefore extra caution is advised. Lately to the creative adulterant mixtures there is a new addition: MDMA used as a cut for MMC.

Pills remain as unreliable as always.

A brief change from PMMA we report weekly as of late (the danger is not over, it just had not been detected this week), this time we focus on the dosages found in pills. Some are completely bunk, like a pink Trump from Madrid (Spain) found to contain only caffeine. Then other can contain several strong doses of MDMA (120mg+), like the blue Farru pill from Barcelona detected with over 250 mg of MDMA. With median pill around 160 mg (already around x1.5 of a common dose), both significantly underdosed and overly potent tablets pose an increased risk of accidental overdose.

Scam of the Week

Samples that were not what they were sold as. Substitutions like these can be picked up with a test kit before anything is taken.

  • 4-MMC — Ketamine — 1 sample.
  • Cocaine — Metamizole — 1 sample.
  • Ketamine — Pregabalin — 1 sample.

Additional dishonourable mention: 2C-B pill sold in Bern (Switzerland) with only 1 mg of 2C-B.

Last Week at a Glance

  • 43 samples from 4 countries (Austria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland) were included this week.
  • 35 samples contained a quantified result, including 23 pills and 0 LSD samples.
  • 12 samples contained more than one detected ingredient.
  • No supported purity or content change was available for comparison.

More details, tables and sources are available in the full Drug Purity Report for Week 38, 2026, and of course in the DrugsPRO app.

Drug-checking results describe tested samples only and are not representative of the entire market.

Thank you for reading and catch you next week!

the seller of that 4mmc must have mixed up a bag or something because switching it with Ketamine makes no sense

Another good report thanks

More details, tables and sources are available in the full Drug Purity Report for Week 38, 2026, and of course in the DrugsPRO app.
interestingly this weeks report has a spotlight on pregabalin, it seems to imply that snorting it has a higher bioavailability than oral, or at least the subjective effects are stronger when snorted as from the tables it takes less to achieve the same effect.

when I dig into the info it looks like the source of this is from https://substance.wiki/drug/pregabalin as none of the other cited sources have data on snorting it.

the data on substance.wiki though seems to just be a few reports and my read is that this is a scrape of trip reports and dosage aligned with effect, I get the methodology and it makes sense in my mind, and to a degree this reflects my own experience in snorting it (I'm a fan of snorting it). However the numbers seem off to me, 90% oral bioavailability is bloody high, and even if snorting it increases this to 100% I'm not sure I can square the reduction in amount of pregabalin snorted compared to the oral amount to achieve the same effect.

I've spent a fair bit of time previously looking for papers/data on snorting bioavailability of pregabalin and there simply isn't any that I can find!

The sample size here is low so hard to read anything concrete into things.

@DrugsPRO App I wondered if you had any thoughts/opinions on this at all? would be interested in your views.

Drug Purity Report #39/26

Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the series by PRO Test that brings you updates on drug purity by shining light on the black market. The report is late this week and we are sorry for the delay: we have been busy expanding the DrugsPRO database from one year of results to the past ten, which now covers over 30,000 lab results. In this week’s edition: PMMA is getting even more dangerous and new cathinones on the market.

Data fatigue is real, so here we come to give you the gist of what’s going on out there. For more details, photos, and other information on thousands of drugs, head out straight to the DrugsPRO app.

Trump pill. Detected MDMA (54mg); PMMA (49mg). Location: Biel, Switzerland. Date: 2026-09-22. Source: contact-suchthilfe.ch.

PMMA danger is spreading.

Unlike MDMA, this compound is likely to cause a life-threatening serotonin syndrome at relatively low doses. PMMA has already been confirmed this year in Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Switzerland, and multiple pills appear designed to fool a simple reagent test by combining PMMA with MDMA. We encourage readers to always pair a reagent test with a TLC purity test, which, unlike a reagent that only estimates how much MDMA is present, also shows the other substances in the sample and helps estimate how much of each there is.

More cathinones on the market.

With the new ban on precursor chemicals in force in the EU, the chase for an MMC successor continues. Although 4-CMC remains the most popular choice, with relatively similar stimulating and serotonergic effects, sellers are trying other options. 4-Fluorocathinone, a novel compound with little available data, was found in Boom pills in Austria. We advise caution, especially because researchers are raising the alarm that new stimulants could be escaping simplified drug classifications.

Scam of the Week

Samples that were not what they were sold as. Substitutions like these can be picked up with a test kit before anything is taken.

  • MDMA → PMMA — 2 samples
  • 4-MMC → Amphetamine — 2 samples
  • 4-MMC → NEP — 2 samples

Additional dishonourable mention: “Cocaine” from Vienna with 0% cocaine, but instead Caffeine 70%, Levamisole 15%, Phenacetin, Procaine and Tetracain.

Last Week at a Glance

  • 92 samples from 4 countries (Austria, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland) were included this week.
  • 77 samples contained a quantified result, including 42 pills and 0 LSD samples.
  • 39 samples contained more than one detected ingredient.
  • MDMA was typically 111.5mg this week, against 157.5mg across the twelve months before.

Drug Purity Report #40/26

Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the series by PRO Test that brings you new pieces of the drugs purity puzzle. This week we focus on synthetic cannabinoids and rare, really obscure stimulants. Available lab results originate in Western Europe, but the detected patterns are likely to have a much wider reach.

Data fatigue is real, so here we come to give you the gist of what’s going on out there. For more details, photos, and other information on thousands of drugs, head out straight to the DrugsPRO app.

Detected CBDA (2.4%); Free CBD (10.1%); CBD (12.2%); CBN (0.4%); Free THC (10.1%); THCA (1.4%); THC (11.3%); MDMB-PINACA; Delta-8-THC. Location: Zürich, Switzerland. Date: 2026-09-30. Source: saferparty.ch.

1. Synthetic cannabinoids are not going anywhere. Semi-synthetics such as delta8-THC and HHC, with relatively similar safety and effect profile to THC, are least of the worries. Strong cannabinoid receptors agonists such as 5F-ADB or MDMB-PINACA are being spotted as well. Despite cannabis being the most popular controlled psychoactive substance, it constitutes a relatively small part of samples tested, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate the problem is small too. Most drug checking projects only accept cannabis samples with serious reported adulteration suspicion, due to high cost of laboratory analysis, and most people who use drugs are unaware they can test their product.

2. A stimulant curiosity: bupropion and diethylpropion, pharmaceuticals and cathinone derivatives, were found in pills and powders missold as mephedrone and MDMA (Bart Simpson pills). Bupropion is normally used as an antidepressant and smoking quitting aid, and diethylpropion is a more stimulating appetite suppressant. Those findings suggests sellers are having only ever increasing problems sourcing 3-MMC and 4-MMC and are scraping the barrel, desperate to sell anything. Another detected cathinone was 4-MEC, a novel psychoactive compound not of medical origin. It’s risk profile is largely unknown, and recreational effect commonly described as less desirable than Mephedrone’s.

Scam of the Week

Samples that were not what they were sold as. Substitutions like these can be picked up with a test kit before anything is taken.

2-MMC → Bupropion — 2 samples

Amphetamine → Cocaine — 1 sample

MDMA → 4-MEC — 1 sample

Dishonourable mentions from this week. What the lab actually found, with the date and the place it was checked.

5F-ADB, THC — 1 October — Lausanne, Switzerland
