doing a bit more digging on the methedrone side of things (because I like a bit of drone)

correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that what's happening here is that the precursor bans in 23/24 are finally taking effect after the precursor stockpiles have started drying up, in parallel the china to stan to russia to EU route has come under a lot of international pressure and volumes have reduced considerably.

so we're left with a lot more NEP (which isn't as well researched in terms of harm), and/or more 4-CMC which is known to be more toxic.

well that's a shame, looks like I'm going to stop buying m-cat in that case unless I can find a decent vendor and get it tested.

would expect people will just stock pile before the ban though so will take a while to ripple through in effect

Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the series by PRO Test that brings you fresh drug purity news from the clandestine market. In this week’s edition: developments regarding 3-MMC replacement, problem with underdosed pills and extremely dosed tablets.

Some are completely bunk, like a pink Trump from Madrid (Spain) found to contain only caffeine. Then other can contain several strong doses of MDMA (120mg+), like the blue Farru pill from Barcelona detected with over 250 mg of MDMA.

3-MMC, the replacement of 4-MMC (Mephedrone), is getting harder to find in Europe.

In the past months we have recorded compounds such as most notably 4-BEC, 4-BMC, 4-CMC, 2-MMC and NEP sold as 3-MMC or 4-MMC. Researchers warn that the novel cathinones could be escaping their simplified expected pharmacological profile, therefore extra caution is advised. Lately to the creative adulterant mixtures there is a new addition: MDMA used as a cut for MMC.

Pills remain as unreliable as always.

A brief change from PMMA we report weekly as of late (the danger is not over, it just had not been detected this week), this time we focus on the dosages found in pills. Some are completely bunk, like a pink Trump from Madrid (Spain) found to contain only caffeine. Then other can contain several strong doses of MDMA (120mg+), like the blue Farru pill from Barcelona detected with over 250 mg of MDMA. With median pill around 160 mg (already around x1.5 of a common dose), both significantly underdosed and overly potent tablets pose an increased risk of accidental overdose.

Scam of the Week

Samples that were not what they were sold as. Substitutions like these can be picked up with a test kit before anything is taken.

  • 4-MMC — Ketamine — 1 sample.
  • Cocaine — Metamizole — 1 sample.
  • Ketamine — Pregabalin — 1 sample.

Additional dishonourable mention: 2C-B pill sold in Bern (Switzerland) with only 1 mg of 2C-B.

Last Week at a Glance

  • 43 samples from 4 countries (Austria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland) were included this week.
  • 35 samples contained a quantified result, including 23 pills and 0 LSD samples.
  • 12 samples contained more than one detected ingredient.
  • No supported purity or content change was available for comparison.
