Cathinones sold under familiar names

Samples sold as mephedrone or 3-MMC have contained other cathinones. The report highlights 4-CMC and NEP in particular. NEP is a substantially more potent stimulant, so taking an unexpectedly substituted sample as though it were 4-MMC presents a different risk.

These are substitutions documented in the report’s tested samples, not claims that they occurred in every country where this post is read:

• Sold as MDMA → contained PMMA: 2 samples.
• Sold as 3-MMC → contained 4-CMC: 6 samples.
• Sold as 4-MMC → contained NEP: 3 samples.

doing a bit more digging on the methedrone side of things (because I like a bit of drone)

correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that what's happening here is that the precursor bans in 23/24 are finally taking effect after the precursor stockpiles have started drying up, in parallel the china to stan to russia to EU route has come under a lot of international pressure and volumes have reduced considerably.

so we're left with a lot more NEP (which isn't as well researched in terms of harm), and/or more 4-CMC which is known to be more toxic.

well that's a shame, looks like I'm going to stop buying m-cat in that case unless I can find a decent vendor and get it tested.
