Hey IJ, I'm going to the 4th day at the Oval. Hope I see some cricket!

To the earlier poster, coke and booze are great for an all day session with the Barmy Army! :)
lets hope they get there for your sake.. or wish for rain on one of the earlier days. thing with 5 day tests these days is the run rate has gone up so much over the last 10 years or so that they rarely get to the 5th day, unless it rained. in so far as increased rate = less overs and more batting mistakes

Anyone watch the u19's ODI against Sri Lanka today? Was a good game, but weather was all other the place...

T:20 finals day today. not that I care overly who wins as my team aren't there.

T20 interest seems to have waned a little in UK at least especially as the damn football season has started already. They milked that cash cow to death with too many matches .
...wonder how long the APL will keep going at the level it had been over the past 2 years

is money good for sport of does it fuck it up?

don't you mean IPL? as long as they manage to keep it in India it'll keep going, as they are completely nuts for cricket there, if anything would have killed it it would have been the 2009 season when they played in South Africa.

I went to Lancs (my team btw) v Yorks at Old Trafford not that long ago and it was pretty much full, except for the alcohol free stand, so it generates a decent amount of cash for the teams, particularly when you see the crowds for the county championship games. the t20 is probably the driving force, or at least revenue stream, for all the grounds that are getting done up.

Yes cheers the IPL ,in india cricket is a more popular than the premier league is in england.

I prefer test cricket. It fascinating watching how 20/twenty is changing the rythm of a test

players play more risky /varied shots.
run rate is hight
fielding is sharper

back to hampshire somerset final
hamps need 174 of 120 balls ,
Should be exciting finish!

If it rains during the test then it'll also be cloudy and likely to be swing conditions so i reckon you could be in trouble kid.

good to see Swan in on the action during the last test, he's got more wickets than murali and warne did in their first howevermany tests, despite hardly bowling this year. This might be controversial but i'm gonna take this opportunity to expres my opinion that marali was a chucker anyway

I'm gutted been waiting all my life (33 years) 4 Somerset to win something and yet another defeat in the20 final.
Despite being entertained by Vivian Richards , Sir Ian Botham , Joel Garner , Marcus Trescothick and many more it seems incredible that we have never won a major prize.
I think we are still in with achance of the county title this year i would love 2 see us win especially as my Dad (R.I.P) introduced me to the wonderfull game that is cricket.

At least England won the toss, which means should hopefully get to the 4th day!

Hmmm. Still feel that way?

What a crazy decision, bowling. It was overcast as fuck and any muppet could have told you it would swing everywhere.

Only thing I could think of, Strauss had bought the weather forecasts that said it was going to be sunny. It was a funny day: real sunny at 8am, cloudy by 10 and stayed that way most of the day, till England were mostly out. [I live a couple of miles from the ground]

Still, it was an enjoyable day. Decent crowd but not full. Atmosphere was subdued but appreciative - people got behind England but also applauded the good play of the Pakistanis. Some fine, fine shots from England batsmen, but mixed in with some dreadful ones for the dismissals. Broad went totally to pieces and could have been out a dozen times in three overs before he finally got out, but he played well until then. Disappointing bowling from England that meant Pakistan didn't have to play at too many shots.

Aye, IJ, I was perhaps a bit hasty! :)

Glad you had a good day out! I presume you aint going on Saturday?

anyone there tomorrow? . I hope to get a ticket at the gate.

Should see many wickets at this rate
