Currently at work watching the first day of the Second Test, SA v Aus and the Australians are absolutely taking the S African attack apart. Kallis and Steyn have both left the field with hamstring injuries after Philander was ruled out injured before the start of play. South Africa's feared bowling attack is looking tissue thin at the moment. Warner and Clarke hit 100 in 10 overs and it looks like Australia will make over 400 in the day. As much as I thin Michael Clarke is a smarmy prick, he is looking down the barrel of his 4th double century this year.8o

Winner of this series takes the #1 ranking and to be honest I didn't think Australia were good enough but so far this series SA have only looked world beaters in the first day of the first Test.

In better news Ponting look like a very old man clean bowled for 4. He needs runs in the second innings or he will likely be dropped.

Also the Hurricanes have picked up a Franks brother for next season so our forward pack might match our back line for once.

I see the radical England tactic of playing two spinners in India is working ;)

And Busty, do not speak with hope of the Hurricanes. It'll only lead you to heartbreak.

Adelaide flat as a pancake. One innings game after tomorrow.

Mumbai, spitting and turning. England all out for low score tomorrow.

Adelaide is starting to turn, it is slowly being baked dry ( they are expecting 35 Deg Sat, Sun) and the small outfield is lightening fast. The problem is neither team has a good enough spinner to take advantage. All it will take is one part timer to find the foot prints day 4 and 5 and there will be a result.

Step Forward David Warner The new Shane Warne ;)
Clarke is in the form of his life right now.
Which makes me think to that spell of bowling against India dunno the figures but it was fukin ridiculously good .

That S.A Attack not looking so bad atm on a nelson 5 down

Some good Test matches going on .

Monty is back & on one like i said we were daft not picking him in the 1st test . Sub Cont . with one spinner is school boy error .
I was thinking that over 300 was apar score for Mumbai but looks promising right this minute with our two best players of spin at the crease .
Of course within 30 minutes we could be all out but i'm not seeing it ( that much ! )

I think he took 6 for 9 in India.

5 down but Australia lead by 275. Hussey and Clarke still in, another 100 runs and I don't see SA chsing them down. Patterson is out of the bowling attack for Australia so it will be tough to take 10 wickets. Pity the 5th day falls on a Monday. :(

Is Adelaide known for successful massive run chases Busty? Because otherwise history dictates that 300+ equals odds heavily in Aus's favour. Mind you, I was in Aus 4 years ago when they let the Saffas get about 800 to win at Perth. Trouble was I was in Cairns at the time. Happy days.

Yeah my post was crap yesterday. But the spinners never took the wickets in Aus. And nobody expected Cook to get any support in Mumbai. Prior is coming in at seven when everyone knows, in that team selection, he has every right to bat at five. Prove me wrong Bairstow.

I think the record run chase is 325 and that was 112 years ago. The next highest is 250. The problem is Australia really has to rely on part timers like Clarke or Warner to step up, so they can't really afford to leak runs chasing wickets. Lyon might finally prove his worth as a front line spinner (he now has a mystery ball called "Jeff") but it is evenly poised .Kallis is literally on one leg but still bludgeoned 50 odd yesterday. This is why I hate 20/20 so much.

Bigup to Pup
4 Double centuries in a calender year is amazing

Been my fave non English player for a long time

Even started supporting the Pune Warriors just cos he signed for them

nice :D

Kev has gone large , if we carry on like this might only need to bat once .
It is time for Bairstow to show if he has it in him i'm not convinced as i type he just got out to Ojha so clearly not this time ...

All of as sudden as i look at our remaining batsmen i'm tempted to take back about batting once .
Prior is solid & Broad can smack it for a few he has got a test 100 or two i think but the rest will probably struggle i'm not a big Patel fan & am not sure quite what his role in the team is anyone else got a clue ?

Come in spinners, Monty and Swann cleaning up. They have only bothered to bowl Anderson for 4 overs just to take the shine off the ball.

If you search this thread you'll find 11 references to Monty Panesar from England fans. All of them crying for his inclusion in various tests in various series.

Seems like the fans know more than the selectors.

High five Monty. And again.

First test series win in India in 27 years coming up?

Edit - Big up to IJ, what went right eh? Someone put mogadon in Ross Taylor's tea?
