Patel is a total waste of space - neither his batting nor bowling is anywhere near test quality. If we don't have a genuine all rounder then we should play either a specialist batsman or bowler and never one of these bits n pieces cricketers as Boycott calls them. The eighties/nineties England teams was full of these failures - Derek Pringle, Chris Lewis, Mark Ealham etc. We should have learned our less by now that this type of player is useless.
 
Broad has the potential to become a proper all rounder if anyone.
I agree with your assessment of Patel.

I don't think Kev really likes bowling ,Vaughan did some on the last trip to Sri Lanka if i remember i think Pietersen took a wicket their last time .
 
Could have been better this morning but could have been a lot worse though. Less than 100 to get should be doable. they better get it done before tea though as I have to go out not long after.

No worries 8) pity there's not a third test as the rest of the commentators have been saying. The ICC need a kicking and need to show a bit of leadership about DRS as well, tell India fuck off you are having it and have the full suite available at each match.

I be a Somerset fan and think we really should win the County Championship once in our long history what with the players we have had over the years Richards , Garner , Botham etc

It's not like we haven't got the best batsmen in England ( MT ) along with Kieswetter whom i like and some decent quicks Philander , Thomas.
 
How do Brimz, I'm a Bears fan, love to go 2 Edgbaston. New Road aint far from me too, I love that ground, beautiful.

What's the deal with Steve Finn knocking the stumps with his knee ehh?

That was a ripsnorter that he did Steyn with though far to good for a nightwatchman . Mistake leaving out Swann could cost us the series i think.

Plus...I think bad batting has already cost the series. That and some average bowling anyway. Lucky to get 5 yesterday from what I saw and heard.
 
I think he has a"sore" shoulder or something but by all accounts he could of played . Mind you all those 52 wicket less overs he bowled in the 1st test wous ldn't have helped.

TBH I think that S.A let us back in i expected more from a seasoned Pro like Kallis he came out like it was a one dayer & AB was the same . It's given us a chance if we can get an early wicket it could be on .


Just checked he is not injured.
 
Brimz, did ya see Pietersen smash Steyn for 4 and 6 in the same over? Did you see Botham do this against Terry Alderman (6 first ball) yonks ago? (EDIT - You may have been a bit young for this bit).) Don't think they're gonna win but fuck me what an innings. :)

Kev was imperious yesteday . The faster Steyn Bowled more he enjoyed it . You just know that it will be Philander or Tahir that get's him it's the Piertsen way . Seems to raise his game in accordance to the quality of bowling , when he comes up aginst either a left arm pie chucker or someone average thats when i worry .

Re . Botham 81 Ashes yeah The straight 6. Seen it on t.V many times fantastic . Somerset legend saw him a few times with Garner & Richards when i was a kid .

Is it still around? I heard about it, but I thought it had been deleted.

I see England are having the typical New Zealand problem, a big dispute with your best player (in our case, variously, Turner, Hadlee, (Chris) Cairns and Ryder - although Jessie isn't quite our best player yet). Bloody silly.
