Ways to kick dope....

my advice about the patch: DO NOT TAKE IT OFF. the membraine gets clogged with dead skin and is far less effective if you keep taking it off and putting it on. once or twice won't kill it, but if you make a habit of it, you will be sorry.

sounds like you're doing a great job. the one thing to remember is (and someone already said this); don't convince yourself that you are sick. it's okay to feel okay during w/d's. that the hardest part. whenever i'm dope sick i come to BL and read about other people's 'experiences' and suddenly i feel like i have to puke, or i can't concentrate, or SOMETHING. you have to block out everything you have heard/read and believe that you can do this without being sick. if you taper properly it is entirely possible to have very mild w/d's...so much so that it doesn't affect your normal activities. let that be OKAY in your mind.

i hope that i'm making sense. this is such a mind fuck, but you are in charge of your mind, and what you focus on.

g/l kapheen. not that you'll need it. sounds like you're doing a great job.

later,
natch.

Well, So far I've been getting by with small doses of hydrocodone. I actually slept last night. When I woke up I didn't feel to bad at all. I have yet to feel horrible - Its been about 80 hours since I last had any dope.

So far so good, I feel like I'm in the clear. I think the patch had a lot to do with it. Kind of strange, I was expecting hell. How long is the halflife of Fentanyl?.

I have a little bit of hydrocodone left and some tramadol. I'll most likely use the hydro in the morning, Or possibly in the middle of the night. And some tramadol there after. The hardest thing right now is the cravings, But so far so good.

Again, I'm curious, How long the halflife is for fentanyl - If someone could let me know, Please.

cold turkey is the only way.
on a side note, if you decided to used duragesic, hydro, darvon, ultram, ect... then do yourself a favour and taper from the start.
if you go cold turkey for a few days, then start using any of those opiates above, you just set yourself right back at cold turkey day #1...
it seems impossible, but it does work. 72hrs seems to be the magic number.
for me? klonopin and weed helps....

for duragesic.. i was using the 100ug's....
i would wear one, and then use the others in the bad way; no need ot explain.
if you read duregesic.com, you'll find that it takes 7-12 hours for maximum amount of fenatly to get into your system. therefore, i would think that after you take the patch off, you have about 8-12 hours to rid your system... it may even be half that...
stay strong... it works, and yuo will start loving 'freedom' again..

Just a update. Its now been one week since I've got high and almost five days since I've used dope. I went 36 hours without any opiates in my system, Didn't get very sick at all. Also, Today I got paid and didn't go score - Which I haven't done in months.

So far so good.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

kapheen - congrats! i was actually thinking about this post earlier, and thinking about digging it up to ask for an update. awesome to hear that you are doing well. stay with it!

hakthedj; it takes around 7 hours for the fent to get into your system, because the membraine on the patch is activated by body heat, and has to absorb and then distribute the drug into your skin, and then into your system. it has absolutely nothing to do with the half-life for fentynal, which is extremely short. just fyi. therefore, once you take the patch off, the drug stops going into your system immediately.

congrats again kapheen!

^^ I second that. Way to go. I sure have learned something from reading this thread, and it's even got a happy ending.

Hell, as hot as it is in Carolina right now, if it's activated by body heat... I could trim a good couple hours off that by walking around the house a couple times.

That rocks. Thanks for the update. I'm curious about the you Natch, especially seeing how our stories are similar... did you still get the refill?

withdrawals are NOT 90% mental..that is ridiculous..some is mental, and some people do wil. themselves into being more sick than they should be, BUT detoxing from a gram of junk/day or 100 mgs of METH/day is a botchi to say the least..

these people who say "cold turkey is the only way" i dont understand..the reason so many people relapse is because the sickness AND the DEPRESSION hurts them too bad so they use..if u can find a low dose of some weaker OPIOD, go for it, and use it for 3-5 days...

matter of fact, best thing you could do(well, not the BEST but) is to find about 80 mgs of methadone, tablets or whatever..take 10 mgs a day and that should kill ALOT of the waithdrwals..the next day, gauge how ya feel, and try to taper your methadone down more and so on and so on..

im all for taking BENZOs, anti D's or whatever to get thru a detox..i have NEVER felt any type of addiction to benzos after taking them for detox purposes..

u guys saying that u guys get up and go running during detox, WHOA...what exactly were u TOxing from anyway??surely it wasnt a bard junk or methadone withdrawal..ive been thru both, and these blow hard..i dunno..

like others have said, u dont take opiods daily, so the withdrawals wont be that bad at all..

I agree with Tongue about the cold turkey thing. I think it should be made as easy as possible.

Also, Tongue - If you were referring to me about not using every day then you read incorrectly. I was using every day. I began to feel sick after about every 16 hours or so.

I took 20mg's of hydrocodone earlier this morning - About 14 hours ago. And I will say that aside from the cravings and the all around shitty feeling I have from not having any opiates/opioids in my system. I'm not with-drawling at all.

Honestly, I have no idea how I got off so painless. I am very happy with the way things turned out. I'm thinking that the Duragesic 50ug/h patch may have played a strong role here some how. Whatever it was, It worked great.

curious about me? feel free to take it to PM, if ya wanna find anything out.

and, tongue, i don't think that it was i who said w/d were 90% mental, but i haven't read back through it and maybe it was me :). regardless, when w/d's are distilled down i do believe that they're almost all mental. it's your mental capacity to be able to stick to the process no matter what your body it trying to tell you. plus, the physical part is over in a week or so...the mental part can last years in some cases.

that's the short answer, 'cause i am being heavily distracted while writing this, but i definitely think that w/d's are mostly mental. i do agree that tapering and not going cold turkey is much better. even if it's just a short taper (like hitting your breaks to slow down as much as you can, even though it's way too late to avoid getting in the accident altogether).

and, as for running or doing other physical stuff during w/d's; obviously that's only if you can keep some food and fluids in your system and can stop shitting yourself for long periods of time. not great to do during the first couple of days, but once you're out of the thick of it, you gotta get onto something else to replace the hole that the addiction left with something that's more self-serving and self-loving (i know that sounds a little funny)

just my opinion.
