I am absolutely obsessed with old abandoned houses. It is such a wonderful hobby to explore them
I have an album dedicated to abandoned buildings. I’m part of abandoned Ireland group. We map them and record them. Great little pieces of history. They are like little museums. I adore it. We are working on producing a book of the best ones we have found. It should be interesting!

So after further consultation my attorney advises against the photos of decay I'd been planning on so you get this rusty statue surrounded by woods with a little surprise in the background

I'm gonna give this until the end of the weekend for any final submissions and then we'll put it to a vote!

All dead animals, feces, and porn should get NSFW tags IMO. I want to get in, I need some time to find a photo or take a new one though.

Very happy to see the contest get a lot of participation. BL has always had some great photographers.

I'm having trouble resizing this image; not familiar with the current codes (been awhile) I'll try to fix soon and apologize if its making your computer fuck up. Can a mod please fix this for me? I'm not sure why its acting all screwy. I thought the code to resize was imgr=# /imgr

All you have to do now is, in the post editor, drag the image to resize it. If you're pasting in code for the image with an

Actually you're inserting this with tthe MEDIA tag, as type imgur. A number of people are doing that. In imgur, if you go to your images (click your logo in the upper right corner, it's in the dropdown), it lists your raw images and if you click on them, it gives you the direct link with the tags around it. Then it won't display in that imgur white frame, it will just show the raw image. And you get more sizing options, and you can resize the image to whatever in the post editor (on BL's side). If you insert as media (with the white imgur frame), you can't resize.

If you guys post your imgur-ized images as raw images, I'll update them in the entries listing.

At first I tried the old option I used to use but I like the MEDIA option as it is now. its cool you can keep it small and then click on it for full size.

Thanks

I can't decide between a couple. This is difficult :(
I couldn't not, not vote for that dog.

I was never fortunate enough to have a dog but I lost the most lovable cat in the history of cats after more than 20 years of companionship.

my kitty lived to 19. It was very hard losing her but she was very sick so I was glad she could finally rest.

My cats are 15 and 16. They're the loves of my life. They're a mother and son, the mother is the 16 year old one (obviously) and she has had cancer, which I had removed, and is seeming pretty old. The other is my baby, I was there when he was born and we're imprinted, I know with certainty that I will never have another connection to an animal as strong, he's the best cat of all time, I'm tearing up just thinking about him. He loves me so much and I him. He's by far the best snuggler. When she goes it will be sad, when he goes I will be devastated beyond belief, we joke that he's my familiar (in a wizard sense). I dread the day I lose them. Fortunately he still seems like a kitten, very healthy and you'd never guess he's 15. The only sign of his age is his absolutely rank breath, he is extremely vocal too so he blasts us constantly. I call it his breath weapon (another D&D-style reference from my nerd past).

Why can't our pets live as long as us?

Sorry for your loss. ❤

I know everyone likes to believe they have the most loving cat on earth but in my case it was actually true. ☺ My cat seemed to love every human unconditionally and without fear or judgement. But she viciously hated other cats to about the same extreme (or opposite extreme if that makes more sense). I know cats don't usually get along well but if my cat encountered your cat - your cat was gonna get messed up pretty good. The only time my cat got really aggressive with humans was when Chinese food was involved. She loved Chinese food and would go to war over it. Like if you wouldn't give her any she'd start hissing and throwing open-claw punches and if she could get close enough she'd bite your hand to get you to drop it. Otherwise, an all around wonderful, loving, super-strong, smart cat.

My cat is incredibly attached to me, he used to not give a fuck about anyone else (though friendly, neither of my cats has ever clawed or even hissed at any human), but over time he has warmed to more people. He gets jealous of anything (living creature or inanimate object) that I am paying attention to. He used to not like my girlfriend because he was jealous of her, until she moved in, now he adores her. His primary motivation is to snuggle with me, ideally he wants to lay on my chest and rest his face on my face. Like this:

Both my cats are super affectionate like that. One still tries to suckle on my hand which he was mad for as a kitten. They don’t hiss and have never scratched me even during play. Both meow just for attention and pick me up/cuddle me stuff. Cats really are amazing and you feel really special when they love you because it’s not easy to win a cats trust and affection.

I totally agree, dogs are sluts (I love dogs too, I don't mean it in a bad way) so it doesn't exactly make you feel special to be loved by them, most dogs are desperate for your love, but cats make you feel honored and special if they love you because they're such magnificent, self-sufficient creatures. I always say relationships with cats are very much like relationships with people. You have to respect them and be considerate and nice to them in order for them to respect and like you.

I know one dog who I feel the same way about, it's because he's 60% timber wolf. I have met some wolves at a wolf sanctuary I stayed at in Colorado once, and he's much more wolf than dog in his mannerisms and the way he conducts himself. He was abused before my friend rescued him so he isn't very trusting of people. But he's such a sweet, gentle guy. You really have to win him over though, for months he would growl at me and bare his teeth whenever I met his gaze or approached him. Now, though, he throws himself against me and rolls on his back and exposes his belly, and gives me little licks. But even so, you have to approach him on his own terms, sometimes he doesn't want you to touch him and you have to respect that. He's so gorgeous and majestic and I melt when he gives me affection.

This is my binxy now and it shows how trusting he is of us as he sleeps with his belly completely bared and he sleeps like. I could drop something and he wouldn’t jump up. It definitely is about creating a trusting loving environment for cats. My cousin has a cat and he has tortured it by rough play etc and it wouldn’t even dream to sit on your lap, claws at you and is pretty weary of people which I find so sad. I gave him a good talking to about it!

Yeah, growing up, we had a cat. My friends (one of them anyway) thought it was hilarious to chase her around and shoot Nerf guns at her, and the dog always tried to catch her too. She hated us, I didn't quite get it back then but as I got older I felt so bad for her. Once I went to college and moved away, whenever I would come back to visit, if it was late at night and I was in the most isolated corner of the house, she would sometimes come get on my lap and purr while I pet her, but if I twitched wrong she was out of there. To everyone else, and me at all other times, she would hiss and scratch and actively seek to avoid all contact.
