Honestly, I'm not so surprised that the community has gone the way it has, a clear majority in favor of downers. There's nothing that really shocks and awe's me because the tendancy to use a depressant is for relief from life's stresses, something that is at a high point in today's society. Stimulant use is more relevant as a get up and go type of fufillment in users. Compared to depressants, stimulant users tend to be the laid back few who are seeking the energy to perform where they normally could not. The seeking of energy and this escape from physical limitations is seen in more than just the social anxiety group out there, there are people who simply want to be at the next level of euphoria. Euphoria's a metaphysical state of emotion and chemical interaction within each of us, the way we interpret that state is what sways us to one or the other, up or down. People often talk about in the business world your either alive or dead, for some stimulants offer that feeling of being alive that they would otherwise not. For others, however, that feeling of life and energy, organization and conformity to perform tasks requires a down time to relax and decompress emotionally and physically.
The belief of escape isn't a realistic ideal in the drug scene, people claim they break free from their live's in some form but in reality they are simply completing their circle of psychological needs which range from the up to the down points of life's daily grind. Ofcourse addiction and habitual use is always a factor, simply granting a person the ability to sway themselves the way they're body would not otherwise perform at is what makes people both chemically and psychologically unique in their drug of choice, or rather drug type.
I'm forever a stimulant man, getting up and out is what thrills me and the fact that I do not otherwise have the successive and decesive motivation to go after the tough tasks of organized breakthroughs in my life's evolution both socially and metaphysically. I'm a laid back personality with focus on the intellectual and overall scape of things, disorganization and lacking concentration on my goals is what keeps me off target on many fronts, stimulants are a way for me simply balance the scales at times when things become swayed toward a depressive, lethargic time period when I need to be moving forward at a more stable pace while still keeping my creative nature that drives my successes at the heart of my personal being.
Its all a matter of personal choice, though I find its decided for us through our growth and development mentally. Our cognition through the early years and deficiencies in one technicality that exists in life, or not, can be the judgement that decides what we move forward in succession with. It could also be geneticly influenced through brain chemistry and either under or over stimulation of certain natural chemicals (ie: hormones, neurotransmitters, etc).
