Uppers and Downers, Up People and Down People

I've always been a chill quiet mellow dude and I've always preferred downers. It's just the way I am. I was addicted to heroin and OC's for like 3 or 4 years, so I just was in love with the dopey euphoria. The only stimulant i like is mda/mdma, (I guess i like the stimulating effects of LSD and other psychedelics too). It's kinda fun to be fucked on coke, but you ALWAYS crash. I hate crashing, I don't know how some of you bl'rs do it...

I've noticed a lot of my friend (who do MAD coke and e ) are way more out going and loud than me. my friends are definately up people for uppers.

it's crazy how many downs are downers on the survey so far....

i love my stims, but i love downers even more.

i have been diagnosed multiple times with GAD, so i think that qualifies me as an "up" person.

answer: B

i use to love uppers too, was on them everyday for nearly a year = now its downers all the way woot! now if only i could get some gear

I'm a "down" person who would prefer uppers if there were no crash.
Actually, I tend to find opioids (even codeine) stimulating as well.

I went with C. Im naturally a fairly mellow, quiet person. I like uppers because they're, well, uppers (duh). Though to be fair Ive never tried downers but I just get the feeling they're not my thing.

i guess im a down person or whatever. i do downers more because there is no crash. i like upper better because i just like the feeling better. i just dont do them much because the crash is painfulll

im more of a upper person as i love to buzz my tits off... but i do smoke weed and solid and do benzos, they are the only downer drugs i do.

tried just about everything, its counting on day by day and what mood im in, i normaly go for uppers but i do like a change and end up doing downers.

sometimes uppers for starts then downers for the come down.

I am an "up" person and I like to have uppers in the morning, but I also enjoy having downers around nighttime so I guess I'm a little mixed.

I can be an up or down person, it really varies . I enjoy both uppers and downers, but it depends on the current situation, but I generally (well almost always) start the day with uppers and end with a downer with no real preference for either. I enjoy both immensely.

I've always been a very upper-type person (frequently to the point of being somewhat annoying, I think =D) but lately I've been finding myself craving a much more dopey, downerish high.

C. I think stims are the bee's knees, and I love how they counteract my natural introversion (let's face it, it's an extrovert's world).

That being said, some of you folks have said that you formerly liked uppers. There are certain aspects of my behavior on them that I dislike, and I feel as though I'm likely to abuse them. I could use them as a coping mechanism for my dissatisfaction with introversion, and I always feel the urge to binge. I keep my use rare, as in less than 10 times a year, so the magic doesn't go away.

very interesting...you are onto something here....

one of my friends is studying psychology majoring in addiction studies. one of the things i have been reading about in her textbooks, its the 'introvert, extrovert' mentality which is quite similar to what you are saying with 'up/down' - this does actually have some scientific proof behind it.

her text books told me that typically an introvert (usually quite 'down/chilled/mellow') will recieve a higher % of the effects (basically a lot more high from the same dose) from stimulants than someone who is typically an extrovert (typically loud, energetic) this is due to the chemical make up in the brain, and that the receptors stimulated arent used as often, as not so 'active' therefore go into overdrive. an extroverts mentality has the receptors active almost all the time, so when they use stimulants, that part of the brain is already active-so the 'lift' isnt as noticeable to them. perhaps why a large percentage of seemingly hyper people tend to go for downers

This is interesting. I read somewhere that introverts tend to be more succeptible to psychoactive drugs in general than extroverts...but I think the study focused on stimulants! :) I've found what you said to be true in my experience.
