Anyone remember that ketamine seizure in Manchester back in feburary, think it was around 230kgs.

Anyway follow up raids today picked up a load of big players it seems, police estimate "£300m conspiracy to import drugs", quite a few people arrested in the conspiracy to import Class C drugs (I can only think its ketamine),, so not good news. Also Class A and B though.

I remember the good old days of it being legal and you could get done for selling it without a licence but unless you had fucking loads they just ignored it.

Seems a long way off with ketamine law and ketamine analogue law changed since then, not even that long ago though.

Not really interested in getting involved anymore tbh, I've pissed enough of my life away to that drug. I know that if I start having it around all the time then the needles will come out soon after and then I end up in trouble again with a habit of some sort.

Hard to say no if it's offered though.

This circular draws attention to the contents of the above Statutory Instruments (S.I.), S.I. 2014/1106, S.I. 2014/1275 and S.I. 2014/1274 which come into force at 00:01 on 10 June 2014.
The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Ketamine etc.) (Amendment) Order 2014:

1. classifies;

• a group of NBOMe compounds (by generic definition) as Class A drugs,
• a group of benzofuran compounds (by generic definition) as Class B drugs,
• lisdexamphetamine as a Class B drug,
• zopiclone and zaleplon as Class C drugs, and
• tramadol as a Class C drug under Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (‘the 1971 Act’),

2. reclassifies;

• ketamine as a Class B drug under Schedule 2 to the 1971 Act.

From a circular earlier this year.

I checked the amendments in the legislation, which you can see here - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2014/1106/article/4/made#text=ketamine

Aye I know it got reclassified from C to B, but thinking back to the legal mephedrone days people who had ordered when it was legal, and drugs in transit that then fell under the group as being classified to illegal were not charged, though just unable to collect any confiscated packages within that time frame.

Thinking they may think back to when it was class C, as it was when it got seized (as they are nice policemen like that), unless this large import was for steroids/ benzos though does not really make sense.

^ I would of thought that they would be whatever class it was at the time the offence was committed, as that was the crime at the time.

Slightly off topic, thinking about alcohol prohibition in 1930(?) where it was still illegal, and in 1931(?) when it became legal. Those serving sentence for crimes relating to alcohol would they still have had to serve the remainder of there sentence even though it was decriminalised, or would they have been released as it was no longer a crime.

I've always wondered that.
