Opioids Trouble Peeing on Opiates: Urinary retention issues Q&A Megathread

I'm pretty sure it's due to ur muscles constricting from the dope. I think that's what it is anyway

It was always easier if I relax my entire body, starting with my shoulders. Sitting down also works but u def lose some of ur manhood in the process

I used to get exactly the same problem mate. I could be standing there for 5mins sometimes trying to pee.
Sometimes I was resigned to the fact I was gonna be waiting for a long time to pee so I would just sit down like a woman and wait until I eventually started to pee.
My mates would say that they just had to piss in the 'Pee-male' way.
 
Yeah this was a problem for me a lot of the time.. so much that I would always try and piss before my next shot, because I knew it'd be a bitch if I tried afterwards. Once your body gets really used to the H after being on it for a long time many days in a row, it becomes easier. Your body just gets used to pissing that way. That was my experience anyway.

that's right.

the dope smooths out the muscles in your urinary tract which in turn make urinating much more difficult.

aye, this is what i do as well - take a seat and wait for it to release. fuck it's bliss when it starts flowing. though, a pain when it's a start/stoperer. lol.
 
not being able to pee on opiates sucks.

i remember back in my senior year of high school (200eight) i took 40 mgs of oxy from like 10am-2pm and i pissed when i woke up at like 930 and i still couldnt piss at midnight.

i couldnt piss for 16 hours and i had to pea so bad i went to the hospital and they put like a 2 ft skinny tube in my dick called a catheter and drained my piss. they said when you gotta piss real bad its likie 300 cc's there but they took out 950 cc's from me which shows you how bad i had to go

try to piss before hand and if you cant then hold it because when you wake up the next day the urinary retention, which is a side effect of opiate use, will go away.

i had to wear a catheter in my dick for 2 weeks and they hooked it up near my hip so i couldnt walk instead of putting it near my leg where it should be. it was tugging at my dick and hurt so bad we had to get the wheelchair out the attic and i had to wheel myself around.

as backwards as it sounds i got a couple 30s from someone cuz it hurt so bad (had to hobble out there with a catheter in my dick to meet em). i wasnt worried about the 30s making me not be able to piss cuz i had a catheter in

regardless, it was a horrible experience. it was also weird being the only 19 year old kid in the waiting room of a urologist office when everyone else is 60+ years old lol

edit: it is extremly annoying when i try to write the year i graduated and it turns out to be a fucking smiley face. bluelight pisses me off with that stupid shit

it was absolutely miserable. we had a wheelchair in my attic and i got it down cuz i couldnt walk and for 2 weeks i was wheeling myself around or doing nothing at all. at one point it hurt horribly so i hobbled out to my dealer and copped 2 30s and was taking them. i knew i wouldnt have urinary retention cuz i had the catheter in. and if them mother fuckers put the bag on my hip instead of my leg i would have been able to do normal activities but instead im hobbling around with this shit tugging on my fucking dick

after it was done they took it out and sent me home to see if i could piss. i had a scab right on the tip of my dick and i i had to sit down to piss for a week and when i went the first time it was blood and almost had me in tears cuz my fucking dick was raw

its pretty bad when your 19 years old in a urologist office and all the 60 year old people are staring at you.

i also had to walk in my sisters wedding with the bag under my tuxedo and i could barely walk. it is by far one of the worst experiences ive had.

to this day i piss before i sniff or eat my pills and i try to piss as often as possible and not hold it. if i cant piss ill go to sleep and wait till the next morning and i can usually go but i vow to never go back to the hospital for that again, especially not the hosptal that attatched the bag wrong and had me in tremendous pain. i would have went back to ask them to fix it but the whole time i thought they knew what they were doing and it was supposed to be like that

im sorry that this was pretty graphic but its a warning to opiate users to be careful and that urinary retention can happen to anyone. this was only off 50 mgs of oxy taken throughout the day

i pissed when i got p at 10am and by 1am the next morning i did hot showers and everything i could to piss but my stomach hurt so bad that i went to the ER and every bump on the way fucking hurt.

i dont wish that shit on my worst enemy. i hope i never have to do that again

edit: i dont remember writing the post from before cuz i was drunk but i pretty much re wrote the same shit but fuck it for the sake of harm reduction and saving your dick tremendous pain it should be read twice
 
just a note especially for females on sub... i've been on subutex/suboxone for over 5 years at varying doses from 4-16mg/day, and for the first 9 months or so i dealt with urinary retention that felt exactly like a UTI but never quite progressed to the super bad pain that eventually prevents you from peeing at all when you have a UTI, and my doc assured me it was a normal side effect of the sub so I just got used to it. it did get better over the years though not 100% normal, BUT, if it comes back for no reason don't assume it's a side effect of the meds again. i did, and it masked a UTI that developed into a very resistant bladder infection that took 3 different antibiotics to cure, after a culture even. just something to keep in mind.
 
yea, sucks. when i go to the meth clinic without fail the day i go ive already taken a piss. so i have an impossible time, last time i just put waster in it and said fuck it, i dont get takehomes anyways. (one of the conditions of clean stuff)

i usually just sit, its way easier, plus....you get to sit. Xanax kinda does it to me too.
 
Jesus christ last night i was so jammed it took me ~ hour to drain my bladder. Kept going to the bathroom....can't go.....back to my room....repeat like 100 times. SO ANNOYING.

The worst for me was after a surgery. I had to drink a few pitchers of some radioactive drink for the scan, and I didn't get to pee before the surgery. When I finally came too I had to piss so badly, but the combination of the pain killers and whatever they gave me to knock me out for the surgery had my system so shut down that I just couldn't go despite how badly I needed to.

After I few hours of trying I was finally able to go. It was the longest piss I ever took. I had to call in the nurse to empty out the container they had me pee in which was a liter, and when she gave it back I filled it up 3/4 of the way. Luckily I didn't need a catheter shoved up my pee hole, but I was damn near close to asking for some assistance since I had to go so badly but just couldn't. The funny part was that my girlfriend was visiting me in the hospital, and I was talking to her while trying to massage little drops of urine from my weeny. It wasn't fun and I needed her to leave in order for me to "establish a flow" as I refer to it.
 
Urinary retention from opioids

I have difficulty urinate if its not urgent, is that cause by the same reason we get constipation from opioids?

Is there anyway to deal with it, its really annoying.
 
Opiates can be dehydrating especially if you take them every day. Remind yourself to drink a lot of water.
 
Same here. I keep think "fucking piss, already!!!" The culprit for me seems to be dilaudid. I get it on other opes too, but not nearly as bad. Try bob's technique of sitting. Maybe that'll work...
