Top 5 electronic producers

when I think of trance, I think of hairgel, gucci bags, cover charges, and happy ass bullshit vocals, but to each his own. Tiesto has sold a ALOT of records, and you can't argue with that.

electronic music in general has to be the only genre where you're considered ancient and irrelevant if you haven't released an album in the last 5 years

if this was a thread about any other top 5 in any other genre (except rap) people wouldn't have such a short memory

not sure if this is a good thing, or really really annoying..... maybe its the result of the sheer number of artists

I am glad that Simon Posford/Shpongle consistently keep popping up on people's lists. He's been my favourite since around 2003. I guess this is a drug related forum, but then again EDM has always been closely associated with drug use. :) Oh yeah, and Shpongle's "I am You" won the best track of 2009. :D

I was thinking about this today. We should have a contest using this thread for the top voted producers. And have kind of like where we put a pair of producers up against each other where people vote between them and see who comes up on top. Kind of like the movie madness in Film & TV.

Looking back through this thread, I think Aphex Twin has been mentioned more than any other producer (although Simon Posford, Underworld, and the Chemical Brothers have also been mentioned a lot).

Used to like Trentemoller about 3 years ago but the past few times I've seen him he's played the shittest crowd pleasing sets I've ever seen. Still a good producer though.

ive never seen him before, all the live videos look pretty cool though, anytime you an use a full band that tastefully in electronic music i gotta appreciate it. unfortunate that hes a crowd pleasing type now, i hate that when i see DJs/live acts.
