Thoughts on music completely changed after Ecstasy use

I think people who do like metal.. have less conscious or souls... Jus sayin, like I've never met any normal people who like metal. They always seem to have had issues with anger, or had a hard childhood and metal became a way of releasing their negative emotions.
Have you changed in any other ways besides the music? Do you view people and yourself differently? Or have your views on other things changed?

Wow I can't believe how stupid this comment is. I grew up loving metal... So you're going to tell me I have "less conscious or soul" or I'm "not normal" and had a "hard childhood"? I assume you don't listen to metal, and I would also assume from your comment that you don't know a lot about it. Why then do you write about it like you do? Metal is NOT always a way of releasing negative emotions. There's a ton of metal written poetically about love, life, family, and friends, you obviouusly just don't know about it. What do you think christian metal artists write about?

Your ignorance is at least amusing. You must think pretty highly of yourself. You took music snobbery to a whole new level suggesting people who listen to a different genre than you are less of a person, or are abnormal.

You know what I think you should try doing man?

Go get THEE BEST song out from your list of metal bands that you use to listen to, and I mean your most favorite that you can't get enough of. Pop a really really clean roll and close your eyes as you listen to it. Feel it. Mouth the words to it. Have your guitar out and try to play along with it if you need. As you start peaking I'm sure you'll get super into it and find the beauty in fucking tearing up the place >:P

Just my advice though hahah...

Exactly what I was thinking lol! I might have to give it a shot!

Do it!!!

Trust me I was the same when I first started. Although I kind of feel like I still am but not as much. Anyways I use to only listen to house, trance, etc after I started rolling, but then one day I popped a green monkey, turned on Suicide Silence-Wake Up, and went craaaaaaaazy omg. It got me so hyped that now I'm thinking about rolling at Warped Tour and moshing my ass off, wuuu! lmfao

It sounds to me that you were less in love with metal, and more in love with being famous.

Every metalhead I know thinks they'll make it big. They're all in bands. They all want to be the next big thing.

However, that aside, several things could be at fault. As many people have said, a lack of motivation, or enjoyment to do things you used to love to do are signs of depression. They're also signs of much more serious disorders such as Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar Disorder. Tons of people try to claim they have Bi-Polar disorder. They don't. Most of them don't even know what it really is. My boyfriend has Schizophrenia. A severe case. He's pretty fine on his medication, but when the illness finally caught up with him before we knew what it was or how to keep it under control, it was hell. Scariest shit I've ever had to deal with in my life, especially when it got so bad that he slipped into catatonia, and was put in a facility.

If things start getting worse, or you start to feel "different", then I'd suggest you get yourself checked out. My boyfriend was having similar symptoms before his initial attack. If we had taken him in and gotten him checked out like we should have done, we never would have had to go through what we did.

this is common. i used to be into all that shit but once i go into the electronic dance music scene thats been my favorite since. its just the music is more fun and nothings better then a rave. no metal concert, no rap concert. nothing

^ You'd be asking where all the love was, and hugging people instead of trampling them xD

Pretty far off base. I know how a metal show and mosh pits can look from the outside, but they are much deeper than that. Within a mosh pit you have a very controlled but chaotic release of stress and aggression. Even though everyone is jumping and flailing like mad no one is out to hurt each other. Next time you see one watch closely. Any time someone falls down there are six pairs of hands scooping him/her off the floor, if someone gets out of hand/too violent they are quickly dealt with. Great people to be met at those shows.

pfffhahahahaaah!!! Dude I just lol'd super hard! I got this image in my head of a guy with a huge smile on his face surfing the crowd trying to hug people and when he finally does he gets punched in the face and trampled.

This man speaks the truth.

I think wadsworth might be onto something here!

I used to listen to metal 24/7, however I've always liked trance and some DnB, but I started getting into more electronic music when I first started getting high, then dubstep came and I just love dubstep.

I listen to all kinds now though, Goa-psy (I LOVE goa), trance, fasstt dnb, dubstep etc. Still listen to metal :)

Electronic music since 17 , before it was old school rock I don't like the new stuff . All the screaming n stuff. But electronic music was the reason I tried mdma. And since then I'm a trance, progressive addict . And that's all I listen to... fck the radio!

Same Here! I feel like listening to Filter and Rammstein nonstop on a good roll. I actually find myself a little repulsed by over-the-top hardcore metal on e, but just fine with it any other time.

Compared to, lamb of god, ozzy osbourne, black lable society, in flames, job for a cowboy, iron maiden, scar symmetry, as i lay dying, dimmu borgir, shall I go on?

All of these bands have either played at a festival with over 100,000 people at it, or their concerts alone have about 30,000.

Now just stop the argument. I'm not here to talk to you about concerts, keep on topic.

I'm an experienced metalhead but fairly new to listening to electronica. I've never been to a proper rave but tons of rock festivals in the US, Germany, England and France. It seemed to me that during the metal fests, all of Europe were metalheads, I remember thinking that I didn't believe there were over 40 thousand people in all of Bavaria, let aone metal fans!

I'm really dying to see a real rave or electronica event, just hope the best days haven't passed me by!

ya I figured my comment about metal music would be controversial.. but I don't really care.

I express my opinoin on metal because.. it's just the way I am, and just how everyone else is. Everyone wants to express themselves period.

I say what I said about metal, because I really have never met any normal person who likes metal. And sure you could say, oh I'm happy and don't have problems but.. this is online, you can say whatever you want.

I just think those that enjoy metal, should get help. yeah I'm sure you will say omg you're so ignorant or I don't have problems.. ok well I'm just trying to help.
Like everyone I talk to that enjoys metal says it helps them release anger or their feelings... but what is causing anger in the first place? Shouldn't you deal with THAT so you won't have those desires anymore?

Can you tell me what you define as metal? I like the older classic Black Sabbath and Judas Priest stuff better than the NuMetal, just wonder what your definition is?

It's your right to your opinion and I support that! I have met plenty of normal metalheads but I freely admit that heavy metal definitely plays to that hedonistic, over-indulgent side we all have but normally don't satisfy.

I sort of agree that many metalheads seem to have more rage and aggression issues than most people. I also think they shouldn't feel the need to beat the shit out of each other to express themselves. xD

I personally can't listen to metal because it all sounds like white noise to me. I can't think at all when it's playing... and to be frank, most of the artists and their songs sound very similar if not the same. I'm aware the instrumental takes a lot of talent... but it plain just doesn't interest me.

Most of my friends like Metal however, and that doesn't bother me at all. Most of them aren't trying so damn hard to be "brutal" like the rest of the scene is though.

Throw in my two cents...(change hits ground) my thoughts have definetly changed been heavy into one genre then completly switched to electronic. Now thats all i want but still dabble in the other types of music from time to time
