Cold Turkey arter reading Allan Carr's Easyway to quit smoking.

BELIEVE ME, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.

I tried quitting lots of times and failed, then I read that book, and I quit that very day, and it was the easiest thing I've ever done in my life. Before it was I want a cigarette, I want a cigarette but I'm not allowed, fuck I want one..
After the book, you don't WANT to smoke at all.
I swear.
Cross my heart and hope to die,
please read that book if you want to stop smoking.

And it's not all, smoking causes cancer smoking causing heart disease blah blah blah, everyone knows that already and they're still smoking right? This book doesn't go on about those reasons that you should not smoke, it looks at the reasons why you DO smoke and explains them to you so you can finally see that you do not enjoy smoking at all you only think you do because the addiction has tricked you into thinking that way, example did you enjoy the very first cigarette you ever had? No! it is suffocation, and suffocation is not enjoyable.
Once you understand the trap, you can unravel it.
It's not that the negatives of smoking outweigh the positives of smoking, it's that there aren't any possitives at all, every single thing you think you gain from smoking is an illusion. you think it relieves boredom and stress, when in fact it creates them and every subsequent ciggarette only partially restores what was taken away by the last and then after it has partially restored it, it takes away even move than ever before, and you need to smoke more and more, and you feel worse and worse, the book explains.
you think you feel less insecure if you have something to do with your hands, infact it makes you more insecure, the book explains...

After reading this book it won't be difficult to quit, you won't crave a cigarette, the physical withdrawal from cigarettes is so slight you never notice it, it doesn't even wake you from sleep. some how come you can go 8 hours without one with no problem, then during the day 20 minutes is hard? its not physical its only psychological addiction, and it psychological trickery which has no power once the illusion has been exposed.

Patches give crazy ass dreams! My friends mom had them and had erotic dreams 25 out of 30 days.

She gave me one, never smoked in my life, and spent the night throwing up :(((

Wow! That was really cool how you broke it down. Makes perfect sense.

Yep it's like the opposite of the NA method which tells you you're diseased and powerless and your useless you should release yourself to a "higher power".
It reinforces what you already know, that you're not stupid, not you're not weak willed, and most importantly that you're not powerless against addiction. The book has been in the top ten best sellers every year for the past ten years. It has a 95% success rate, and if you go to a seminar instead of reading the book there is a money back garentee that you will be happy to be a non-smoker afterwards. (the moneyback garentee is what the success rate is calculated by, and aI wonder how many people do succeed but claim the money back anyway just coz they can) I'm waiting for the 'easyway to quit meth' book to come out lol.

I have STOPPED smoking for one year on 3 occasions and 5 years on another occasion. I ran out of cigarettes one day and was just too lazy to go to the store to get another pack. I never went to that store and hence, I never picked up again. Anyways, I have tried patches, gum, lozenges, wellbutrin, ritalin, etc, etc, etc. THE ONLY WAY to quit, IMHO, is to quit COLD TURKEY. That way has always worked in my life when I have stopped. Hopefully, this time, I will have succeded in finally QUITTING. It's been 2 months so far.

REMEMBER: COLD TURKEY!!!!!

Haha. I'm waiting for the 'easyway to quit opiates' book. Though I've recently gotten a taste for meth. I don't want to go down that road- luckily it only comes around on rare occasions.

I quit on January 15 2008.
The prices went up last year and when the last one was smoked I said heck with paying 55.00 for a carton and was smoking 3 packs a day too. That was Nuts.

I found a free program called 1-800- quit now
You call and they mail you a free month of patches.

I breath a heck of a lot better too.
I also now can not stand the smell of them anymore YUCK!!!

I'm not a regular smoker though. I had smoked weed before tobacco, so smoking a cigarette didn't feel bad at all. And yes, I inhaled my first time.

Here is my secret foolproof way to quit, I found it out through experience:

Buy a pack of US Golds, take approx. 1-3 drags...and --if you're like me-- gag and simultaneously wonder how someone could legally pass shit that off as tobacco. No, seriously, I'd rather literally smoke rolled up pubic hairs than taste that garbage again. For the next 2-3 weeks EVERY SINGLE CIGARETTE (no matter what brand) I smoked tasted like them. I was forced to quit a while. It was kind like one of those lozenges that make smoking disgusting :|.

...not even joking, they're that bad :\.

Golden Beachs are pretty bad too. =]
I'm with you, after one of those, I quit smoking cigarettes.
Now I smoke cloves- about 1-2/day.
Unless I'm rolling/opiating; then I smoke a shit ton.

I smoked cigarettes for 3 years and then I quit by chewing massive amounts of gum and using force of will. However it made me quite addicted to sweets instead, which I still have a hard time not using in excess. Guess it's better than cigs though :)

I've tried the lozenges, gum, patches, chantix, inhaler, and an electronic cigarette.

I'm still smoking but having tried all those, I can rank them in effectiveness

#1 Electronic Cigarette - it looks like a cigarette, its battery powered, creates flavored steam with nicotine in it.
#2 Chantix - its the suboxone for cigarettes. its a blocker and makes me think cigarettes are disgusting. i kept smoking a little bit here and there on chantix knowing the nicotine had no effect on me. i also did not get the continuation pack (it was so expensive), that's why i failed with it.
#3 Inhaler - it doesn't create any visible steam or smoke like the e-cig, but it gets the job done and gives you your nicotine orally and through your lungs, its absorbed fast and gives me my fix. but it burns, it really burns your mouth and throat and doesn't taste very good.
#4 Gum - they're okay tasting, but i need to chew 2 at once (the 4mg) to get my nico fix quick. it takes a while to absorb
#5 Lozenges - much like the gum they are slow to get the nicotine in your system. these get slimey and nasty.
#6 Patches - these suck, they provide small amounts of nicotine through the day so you never actually get a hit or nicotine on demand.

I smoked for about 18 yrs, before I quit I was up to about 1.5 pks a day

I took Chantix to quit, it worked great (for me anyway) After about a month I cut back to 1 pill a day in the morning. That help stop some of the side effects like crazy dreams, and saved money...that shit's expensive.

I the past I've tried: Zyban, patches, gum, lozenges, cold turkey. The longest I had ever quit was 6 weeks with a combo of Zyban and gum.

6 weeks... cold turkeyy... not one yet
originally smoked a pack a day, but at one point in time... two packs so yeah

i had been smoking for 2+ years

Then I guess you're different to most people, but the book will probably still help you.
Did you enjoy the first puff? If yes, did you actually breathe it in the first time?

I also loved my first cigarette and was inhaling it... about two years on and I'm still in love.
