This NRG fad - when oh when will it die

Try Death Metal its runs at about the same speed and yes you can dance to it like Happy hardcore but its technically not electronic musik.

For really dark hardcore, try the very early Nighmare in Rotterdam albums...rotterdam records, i believe...pretty nasty stuff. I'm sure there is darker stuff than that, but that's nasty enuf for moi.
 
dahs righ, fuk nrg!!!!!! shizer music,same with that gabba crap, anyone can get on the decks put the pitch, tempo and speed up about 50%, its just easy for these new kandy kids to listen to thats all!

rusty your assuming for a second that the musik is all about the DJ. Well not to burst your bubble its not, in fact its got a lot more to do with the people listening dancing. You say that any anyone can learn to mix NRG, Gabba etc, and this is a true statement but anyone can learn to mix the most complex of taks ie break etc with enough time. Remeber the DJ is just part of the entertainment.

i have decks (not saying that makes me an authority or anything) but fuk tin rib write all the bpm's on their records, its easy as crap to mix. and cause its faster its easier to beat match, scrathing is basically useless as the only good scrathers are hip hop dj's

Stylin agree entirely as my post states, I was just 1) reinforcing that all DJ'ing can be achieved in time and 2) The DJ is the entertainment (In part as the producers must get credit of course) and therefore those whom enjoy the entertainment are more important. In essence if people come then it will be played!

voodoo@sublime has sucked for sooo long now, as has the house@tantra. watching all the munted voodoo children makes me laugh, then cry. especially those dudes up the back that go like 1000000 miles per hour... they look so fucking stoopid.
point being it all goes down in breaks room people !! the atmosphere in there on good nights beats most anything else. you can actually see peoples dancing styles improve throughout the night... coz they feed off the other good dancers and challenge themselves to go harder. a little competition is healthy. and chicks who can move to breaks + 2step are the sexiest chicks alive

the hardNRG in the chapel@SOS was the scariest, sweatiest, most munted, unhealthily dark lookin dancefloor. i turned and ran from it.....
as for dynamix, his set before pullen @ 33 1/3 was fucking immaculate. easy tech breaks that promoted the flow from house into breaks. ie ben korbel in the silver room @ morillo/lawler.
show the house crowd the progression from house to breaks and they follow. as have proved my tantra loving friends from seeing the likes of freq N, general midi, and tayo. BRINGING THE HOUSE DOWN... !!!
the NRG crowd are lost and will never understand... but the house crowd can b shown the light. all shall b revealed by the likes of the stanton warriors, koma & bones, the artful dodger, the freestylers, MJ cole & wookie.

"When will it die??" you ask. "Not as long as we're around to listen!!" I answer. Don't like NRG that much, but hard house isn't too bad if you're in the 'right frame of mind'. Yes, it's cheesy and generally cringe-worthy, but it's fun for a change, you know??
I'll be seeing the Perthies at System 6 for a nice, big, healthy dose of it on Saturday night!!

Fat Tony most Hard House nuts (Myself very much included) have already found the way. Although I prefer to listen, dance and head fuck myself on Hard House I have an appreciation for a greater variety of genres. As a Hard House nut I'm also attracted to Psy-Trance and Acid anything due to the dark industrial sounds that you come to expect from good Hard House. I also love techno and was into this long before Hard House made to aussie shores. I can also wiggle to the sounds of House and Trance. And extending on this I also have an appreciated of Gabba and Happy Hardcore (If its good of course and there is plenty of shit around). The only two genres I have difficulty with is Dn'B (Just doesn't do it for me) and Breaks (If I want to listen to disjointed sounds then I'll through a bag of empty cans down a flight of stairs). Anyway saying all this anyone who says that Hard House is crap eiether A) doesn't like high BPM musik (Fair enuff), B) Doesn't understand it (Fair unuff once again or C) Is to closed minded (Not fair enuff).
For refernece although I do have some NRG in my CD collection I'm not a huge fan unless its top quality stuff. As for Hard House this is a totally different genre and I luv it, luv it I say.
Oh and that reminds me, must organise the next Frantic meetup. *Off to Meetup I go*

airwalk: in reference to your high bpm, surely you must agree that it is sacriledge putting the bpm too high on hard house, its ruins the bounciness and the power of the base. its laughable when dj's crank the pitch on mauro piccoto's tracks
amber savage (a sydney dj) did it on one of her cd's and it sounded soooo fucked, only people peakin wouldnt notice the difference (people with poor taste i might add)
jumpin jack did on imperiale (an absolute classic) one night at sublime and ruined the track for what it was.
the bpm should never get higher then 155-160
its sounds just like pathetic druggo music otherwise.
 
Airwalk: How can you not get into DnB or Breaks?? DnB is soooo good!! The bass gets your heart going and the MCs make it all worth while!! Breaks is great to chill to.
 
Stylin agree all BPM's should left alone regardless of genre and yes 160 is just sweet in the Hard House world. I don't really have a problem with DJ's adding samples as long they know what there doing.
Insecurity, its not that I don't appreciate the artistic side of Dn'B and Breaks its just that I don't find appealing to the ears. I tried many times to give it a go but have just not found that I like it.

dude if your opinion of breaks is bouncy tin cans down stairs then ya havent heard the right breaks. i've yet to meet someone who wont tap a foot to plump dj's, even the most hardened ravers or house fans.
i'll admit im hypocritical coz i'm not open minded to trance, hard house etc. but i used to love raving, i just dont understand how that music can hold your attention for so long. eventually your feet need to move to a drifferent rhythym... enter breaks/2step/dnb.
but seeriusly... i'll give neone $100 bucks if they can honestly say that tracks like "scram" and "electric disko" from the plump dj's dont get em movin.
nearly every style of music has its moment, but for a BIG nite out.. it takes breaks.

oh and if i said hard house was crap, i didnt mean that. i just meant that breaks are better... and most people see this given time. you can actually distinguish a bassline. ie/ its not just the same for all tracks.
as for high bpm music - i don't think so many people would like it so much if it werent for the really good drugs that they are taking. and slower bpms dont mean you have to dance any slower.
as for not understanding hi bpm music - easy to understand.. also repetitive and easy to get bored of.
i see breaks as a progression from the main floor.
but yeah i'm a little close minded too...

yeah breaks are cool to a point, they lack emotion though, feeling, no breaks song will ever get me emotional. true they may make want to shake my ass. i prefer them when ive had a bit to drink.....
apart from take me away, which makes me a little emotional. breaks dont have the raw energy and power or the progression of layers of sound like techno (you may argue with this, but techno poo's on breaks)
i have lots of appreciation for breaks, but it will never be ruler of the dance floors.
i miss party breaks with hip hop beats, they should play that shit more, and when drum and bass is too fast, it just sounds farcical. also break fans are too exclusive and are quite close minded i find (hehehe like tony) and tend to shit me, as they feel their music is much better (nrg dont count, we all know its not music, cause music has to be innovative hehe).
gimme hooj driving basslines, crazy 303's and the like... chris liberator kinda stuff, and im so friggen happy umek is coming to gatecrasher YAYYYY UUUUUMMMEEKKKKK

you can get so many types of breaks though, techy breaks (botchit/koma & bones), the funky stuff (fingerlickin), the 2 steppy stuff (stanton warriors), and even trancy stuff (hybrid/ashtraxx).
stylin i agree breaks can get tedious at times and sometimes theyre better when kept special, like playing house most of the night and dropping a few breaks songs at the end. or an even blend of breaks and prog/tech like what ben k does.
you should check out krafty kuts at the fingerlickin party on new years day (with plumps and others). when i saw him he started out playing hip hop (first song: the rocky theme: awesome), stuff like dj kool - let me clear my throat. oldskool shit.
then he went on to breaks and 2-step stuff, then on to old ravey stuff (prodigy: out of space/smack my bitch up) then last song was NWA - express yourself.
it was very diverse, never boring.

I am inclined to like the same shit stylin is talkin about here. The techno stuff like mauro picotto. love that shit. i will and have listeded to breaks dont mind it at all. I aint gonna say any style of music is the best but. I like hard house as well, and as all of yous are sayin i dont like this nrg stuff that the hard house is sorta being turned into.
tell ya what that as ya tony bout being closed minded about ya breaks that just seems to be so true for all breaks lovers. not meaning to generalise is just seems to be true. not that it matter but ya love hearing what ya like. i tend to go in stages and will like different styles at different times.
how the hell did this get into a breaks debate in nrg topic. can i change the topic breaks sucks as well as nrg and when are the both of them gonna die.

when i saw their video, i practically shat myself... especially when they do experiemental stuff scratching up some wicked noises.
breaks can get OH SO TEDIOUS sometimes
like to the point when i never wanna heere a friggen hi hat again
and sometimes people try to make breaks too complex and it just sounds ridiculous
there are so many flaws i could point out with breaks, but i wont
each to their own
