The 'What Have You Bought Recently?' Thread - Because Summer Is a Show Off

Nope.

It was expensive because it's handblown in a glassworks in Finland hundreds of years old and designed by a someone called Oiva Toikka who is world famous for his glass birds. My mum collects 20th century glass and it's a 60th birthday present for her.

It's an appreciating item really, they get worth more as you keep them and the type you have becomes rarer.

At first glance it looks like a pipe. Put the weed in the top of its head and suck on its tail?

any suggestions for a smartphone? (samsung s3 died)

and a tablet? (nexus 7 lost audio jack. not paying to fix it again... anyone want to buy one? :p)

If I was going to buy a new phone i'd probably get an LG G3, they have managed to fit a very big screen in a relatively small form factor. Takes a little while to get used to a 'Phablet' (fucking hate that term :|) but would struggle to go back to a smaller phone now.

I also thought the duck was an elaborate smoking device.

ive seen the G3 and it is huge especially for my small form hands... i dont think i could operate it one handedly... i struggled with the s3 as it was... was actually considering the s5 as it is relatively cheap second hand and is dust and waterproof...

Sony Xperia Z range of phones are waterproof too. I've had the OG Xperia Z for nearly 2 years now, it's the best build quality I've ever had on a phone. Been dropped on hard surfaces a few times, it's scratched to shit (shoulda used screen protectors!) but it's surviving well. My heart sank the first time I came home from work, started to run a bath, put my phone on the side and went off to the bedroom to get changed. When I came back, someone had called me and it had vibrated itself into the bath. But then I remembered, it's waterproof! It's been in the bath with me several times since. I had the Galaxy Note before it and it was like a cheapo plastic toy by comparison.

i agree about the xperia but! it is 20-30% more expensive than the s5... or the htc m8 or the lg g3. not sure it is worth the extra cash... theres nothing in it to recommend it. hell this woudl be so much easier if the m8 would have a better camera and be waterproof...

Guy I sit next to on the rare occasions I'm actually at work has an M8, also seems plasticky compared to the Sony. And I definitely couldn't live without waterproofness now.

Christ, the amount I go on about Sony products anyone would think I worked for them or something.

^ I remember three quarters of my school owning that, either an official copy or a homespun dub. Guess who was part of the dissenting 25%? No surprises there, but for me to remember it, it must be legendary.

I just picked up in VG condition hardcover what I nearly paid more for in paperback:

Same edition is going for treble figures elsewhere as it's out of print, and contains some stuff I haven't yet read, so I'm excited. This was part of an Amazon spree designed to ease the guilt of buying / wanting to buy drugs.

Rips! You know, the smoking papers that come on a roll. Didn't know you could still get them :D

I guess linking to the online tobacconist I bought them from would be sourcing, so I won't :p

100 etizolam for a bargain price, coach tickets, alcohol, some shit speed, some food, and will probably be getting a new battery for my fucked phone in a minute. Not much different to what I buy most weeks other than the distinct lack of cocaine.

Sounds like a hard core spending spree there missus. Watch that cheap etiz eh, its erratic.

Who said romance was dead, I've been adding to my bed sock collection - like these bad baby boys :D
