Television The Walking Dead

Yeah well if people weren't so damn ignorant we wouldnt have had to have this discussion in the first place would we?

And 95land, i was ready to stop before but you had to say something else. This has nothing to do with "zombie threads" as you put it, knowing what is and isnt a zombie I think should be common sense to even the casual movie fan. Dont be too hard on yourself though man, the internet zombie thread business is pretty tough, unfortunately some just dont make the grade....

We didn't really stop. I just was gone for a few days. Your last post directed at me was still filled with condescension.
I think you probably would have kept going as long as I would have.

You and I were insulting each other over knowledge or a deficiency of knowledge regarding zombies and live folk possessing The Rage Virus. Zombies and The Rage Virus......
I appreciate people coming to my defense. I really do.
Now, let's be done with it. I want to be able to come here on Monday and talk about the season finale.

Thats right, you were egging me on and slipping in little subtle jabs, then at the end of your posts saying I hope we can move on now. That way Im either letting all of that go unanswered or I respond and get labeled as the bad guy for simply responding to what you said, which is what has happened. Even though I was right about everything from the start. Congrats. But yeah, this will stop now cause I probably wont post here very much anymore. All of you can breathe a sigh of relief.

When this thread comes back to life, is it safe to call it a zombie thread or is it merely infected?

I will say that I was happy with the finale, but it did seem a bit silly that

I really wanted to feel for Andrea dying. But seriously girl, less talking and more plier/handcuff action... I not saying she was asking for it, but she was sorta asking for it.

i felt soooo bad for michonne. but dude, can we talk about their sweet ass plan for the prison? i mean [spoil]they got the gov out with two 20somethings and some flares.[/spoil]

also, i am more and more convinced that carl was in the right. [spoil]he said drop your weapon. he did not, and instead advanced, pointing his loaded weapon at carl. drop your weapon means drop it. no funny biznass. the kid was funny biz. his dismissal of his dad was really intense too. [/spoil]

dayyym carl. they said you was the maaan carl.

i don't think [spoil] the gov is going to come back and attack the prison. woodbury is no more. all he's got are two lackeys, who should had just shot the fuck out of him once he started killing all the citizens of woodbury. instead they froze up in terror. martinez had every chance to. and he didn't. the immortality of the gov is starting to get to me. [/spoil]

Finally, Andrea dies!. :D <3

Never in my life have I wanted a character to perish so damn much. To tell you the truth, she's infuriated me ever since she got trigger happy back in season 2. Remember that time she learned how to shoot a gun and she was gonna open fire on Daryl in the field?. I've disliked her ever since then. And she had plenty of chances to redeem herself too, but she failed at every opportunity. "I tried". Yeah right, sure you did, love. :p

All in all though, the last half of this season has been a major disappointment for me. :\

I'd like to see more flashbacks, a lot like Frank Darabont's original vision for Season 2. I feel the repeated cycle of character development= imminent death sorta makes me feel like they are not doing a good enough job of it whilst the character is living. Possibly having a flashback including a deceased character every now and then would make us miss the character more? Making up for it somewhat. I'd like to see alot more being siphoned from TWD universe. Maybe a story including the scientists at the CDC and in France? Where those soldiers from the start of SE3 where coming from and so on. If the writers want to deviate from the comic books some more, come up with some clever interwoven plots possibly. Overall I feel like this finale was alot like a disappointing breezy fart, lots of tension and buildup with little reward at the very end of it.

I think some posts got deleted but, you quoted Mercc96 comparing the finale to "a disappointing breezy fart." I felt entirely the same way.

I like where they're going with Carl. I really liked his "fuck you" type reaction to his dad's questioning of why he shot the straggler from Woodbury.
I also am quite happy that Andrea has been dispatched.
Otherwise.... I was hugely disappointed in the "wars" ending. I understood their strategy, but it was such a letdown. I expected.... More.
I get that they wanted to keep The Governor alive. I get it. But, wasn't the whole season about the buildup to a final confrontation?
During that ending closeup shot of Rick standing there while the people filed out of the bus, I still hoped and maybe expected The Gov and his couple flunkies to pop up on the rooftop and start blasting people(I had no idea what time it was, how long the show had ran.)
When nothing happened and the credits started to roll I could not believe that was it.
Soprano's finale level of "what the fuck was that?"

The first half of the season was like a 9/10 for me. The 2nd, with the exception of Merle and

Morgan
was like a 4.5/10.
With all that said, I still think it's one of the best shows on TV and they can take it in a number of really promising directions, still. I just think they're better than what we got.

I just figured out what bugs me most about this show. Andrew Lincoln is a very weak lead, and his southern US accent is not good.

I figured this out after watching another British actor play an action American lead: Antony Starr in Banshee. I think that his Sheriff Lucas Hood is what Rick should be in TWD.

Starr actually would've made a really good replacement Spartacus if he got on roids.

I can't exactly say why I feel this way about Lincoln. He just doesn't emotively carry the series for me.

Come to think about it, casting is generally shitty in that series. Everyone kind of looks like they're on high doses of Seroquel.

Shane was great and the scientist guy (now a regular on The Americans) was good too. So were the Merle brothers. And every zombie.

Outside of that, I think, I don't really care if they're all killed. Could we do a season with only zombies?

^ To be fair to Andrew Lincoln, it's difficult to play a strong a lead when you're constantly tip-toeing around plot holes.

I think Lincoln, or Clutterbuck(his real last name, unfortunately, is Clutterbuck) is alright. There's been episodes where I felt like he was a superior actor.
In real life he is a very proper, gentlemanly Englishman. I don't know.
I do feel like he was given almost nothing to work with in the second half of the season.
NSFW:
Every one of his scenes seemed to be "Let's get ready for war," followed by a dramatic closeup. Or a crazy, I'm not crazy sequence.
The Morgan reunion episode was pretty great. Great acting from both of them.

I feel like it is mostly everyone else that's kinda gone bland.
Michonne, now that they let her speak, is pretty cool. Merle was awesome. Still have to like Darryl. I think I might be in the minority in enjoying the burgeoning psychopath Carl.
Beyond them..... Meh. I expected a bloodbath in the finale. Multiple deaths on both sides. Trim the fat.
Instead we get a whole lot of nothing. A lot of bullets shot and missed, couple splosion's, a handful of nameless people get shot. Awesome.

I mostly agree w/ this reaction.

Clearly, they are setting up the dilemma w/ Carl in the show that occurs right before Rick and the group battle the Hunters in the comics. Since they do not have the Twins in the show, they had to perform it in another way, and incidentally(?) earlier. In any case, I am excited fo sho to see the little cunt whoop out some acting for us - maybe we will get some depth w/ Carl. This last episode left me morbidly entertained - not thoroughly - but in the instances where Carl dispatched that teenager, who was obviously trying to pull a Richard Darrow and not put down the gun. In addition, I was chuckling as the Governor fumed and proceeded to mow down Woodbury residents. I felt inhuman for enjoying that so much, sitting there by my lonesome. Later, I spoke w/ my brother who said he ad the same reaction, which made me fell somewhat more assured of my humanity. Maybe we just share the same defunct genes. Whatever - fuck it, and fuck them too. They dead now.

The showdown was definitely short of a showdown and I felt gipped, for sure. But leaving the Governor alive leaves the show open to the possibility of following the comics somewhat i.e. blowing away most of the prison population. I am not sure if that is what I would like to see, however, b/c Tyrese is such a motherfucking Mac I think I would like him around for more than a couple seasons. Daryl has been a good substitute, but it will be even cooler to have them working in tandem. I am excited to see the dynamic between these two characters as much as I am to see where they take the Rick/Tyrese relationship on the show. A lot of the conflicts they had in the comics were waged between Rick and other characters serving proxy for Tyrese to an extent.

For all I said concerning the Guhvnah above, I do not think it will play out as it did in the comic - mostly due to interviews I read stating the role of the Gov will change next season. Possibly a loose alliance against a new and even more formidable enemy. Shit, Merle died an ally....
