The travel thread

Eurostar is great, but i'm just not a fan of Paris. Too much dog shit everywhere!!! Boozing in St Germain is quite cool though, and there always seems to be fit birds on the Metro!
 
Never seen Paris. Never been particularly pushed to go but now seems good. I like strange cities at this time of year.

I don't know how long to stay as I only arrive there tomorrow afternoon so I am looking at booking two nights hostel and tabs on a third. I might catch a train on from there to Spain or travel to Holland looking to come back vaguely in 6-9 days:)

Not always just on weight but on size. Though these rules seem to be broken as every flight I get on there tons of idiots with 3 massive trolley on wheels style carry on luggage which I find a bit ridicolous.

Paris tomorrow then, managed to get a cheap run on eurostar!

Only booked it one way as I have nothing in particular to do here and I might catch a train/bus/plane somewhere else later in the week.

I've never worked out how those fuckers get away with it. I try and travel with the smallest amount of carry on luggage possible if i'm flying long haul, and then you don't have to lug it around the airport with you when you are waiting for your flight or transfering. Laptop, MP3, book, ciggies, maglite, done!!!
 
Yeah I like to travel light. If a holiday and I've a suitcase in checked in luggage I usually just take a small bag for few bits n peices as carry on luggage. If it's just a short flight to Europe I don't even bother.

If backpacking I'll just take my rucksack on as carry on luggage. Pisses me off these folks with loads of stuff. Some flights there's fuck all room for my small bag because every idiot has masses amounts of luggage on. Dunno how they get away with it either! :X
 
At least on long-haul flights the luggage bins are massive. I flew on a small turbo prop about a week ago and the stupid bint next to me had a bag that took up half of my leg room. Her bag wouldn't fit in the overhead locker. I would have complained to the stewardess, but she was half fit so i decided to keep quiet.
 
If someone is pissing me off by doing something they shouldn't be on a flight (or that is just plain annoying) I say something or tell the hostess. Can't be fucked with long journeys being made more unbearable by arseholes who bring too much luggage etc.

Hahah, business is only for long haul. It's a waste of money on short flights, and not even offered on that route/airline.
 
I'm in Paris and it has made a good impression on me:)

My Hotel was quite nice until I woke up with 13 (13!!!) bites on my neck and arms today. The manager was very aplogetic and I now have the Bridal suite overlooking the park by way of apology, along with all my clothes laundered.

He blamed the bugs on "South Americans who stayed there last week"

Only seen dogshit twice so far . . .

Jude your trip sounds fantastic. Take lots of pictures (not that we'll ever get to see them we're still waiting on the Hungary road trip pictues :p).

I was bitten to fuck by bed bugs in a hostel in Belgrade. Nasty!
 
Quality! My dads just asked me to go to Cuba in May. Only for a week but it'll do nicely. Few days in Havana then a few in either Trinidad or Cienfuegos depending on where want to go. Total package holiday deal thing but sounds cool to me.

Looking forward to the Havana & Cokes. Mmmm.

Was going to be in Trinidad for the Test Match in Feb with my dad, but now I'm just going to Cuba some time in the Spring with my missus
 
Well I've been looking at wedding locations once again and the Cook Islands look like they could be a bit of a winner. :)

Anyone here been there? I'm doubting it as it's inbetween NZ and Hawaii. It's also not cheap, but it's not super expensive either. :)
