The travel thread

But going by your logic, taking photographs on holiday has been done to death. Nothing wrong with having a little travel teddy (I'ma get one ). Its just the same as having a Swiss Army knife that one may take on their travels.

Taking photos is not a gimmick though is it. Just capturing a memory.

Copying someone elses gimmick is too obvious and means nothing.

You cannot take swiss army or other knives on your travels though. Customs. ;)

but i'd want to feel pretty confident with speaking Spanish, before hand.

Same. Would really like to have an OK conversational level of Spanish before I hit South America.
 
I've flown with Emirates several times and think they are far better than ba. The Glasgow to Dubai plane is new, very comfy always on time, great entertainment system with thousands of music on it.

I've been very unlucky with ba flights in the last few years - always being delayed or late, have missed connections and just found the service poor. Though their prices appear to be getting lower.

And if I start now my ba glasgow to heathrow shuttle rant I will not shut up, so I won't.. :)
 
BA can be terribly shit. They do always seem to be delayed and on the way back from Singapore to London was on the worst long haul flight you can expect. Tiny plane with no proper entertainment system just a few channels with TV programs on a loop, no music or films or anything. :\

However they also upgraded me to Club Class on the way to HK so it's not all bad. :D
 
hahaha, I did the dancing thing outside of st. stephans cathedral in budapest. It ws just a bit of fun

Its a gimmick that means something to you.. a random gnome is a gimmick that is trying to impress. Completely different.

You can take Swiss Army knives in your main luggage, not your hand luggage
 
I'm sure in your upcoming travels you won't have different luggage. You'll have a backpack which will go on as hand luggage I'd imagine. No?

Depends which route and class. Their planes from Gatwick are generally shite, and their business class is dated too. I flew Emirates to Singapore in Jan from Gatwick....both legs business, first leg TV system was broken and seats were shite. Second leg was better, but seats still didn't recline to enough. Transferring in Dubai without lounge access could often be horrific as the airport is too small for the number of passengers. However Emirates have just moved to a new terminal just for Emirates flights which is meant to be a lot nicer.

I don't really like BA as they are too hit and miss, especially long haul.

eDDe have you looked at Qatar Airways? I use them for most of my long haul flights and they are far better than Emirates or BA?
 
Qatar are about the same price as the BA flights but with 2 stops, doubling the travel time

For a Singapore flight i'm happy to stop in Qatar or Dubai to stretch my legs, have a couple of fags and a wander round.

EDIT:- £760 online with Qatar, via LHR. You got prob get cheaper with Trailfinders though.
 
Could, but don't have time too atm, getting ready for work.

Paris tomorrow then, managed to get a cheap run on eurostar!

I wanted to go somewhere hot, but at least the women shall be hot:D

Only booked it one way as I have nothing in particular to do here and I might catch a train/bus/plane somewhere else later in the week.
