The travel thread

^ yes good idea.

We should think of some way to turn a visit to Mongolia into a BL project of good and worthy merit and find a grant to pay for it?

Hehe

We could say we were doing research into access to democracy in the post-soviet era...too nerdy?
A little nerdy.

.. and how the influences brought to bare by faking democracy on comtemporary western drug culture allieviated the need for methedone clinics?

yes. could get a tad technical

Is the saving worth longer travel time, and how do Emirates compare to BA?

PS. I selected 4 weeks and outbound and inbound both on Wednesdays because its cheaper mid week(?)
I plan to change my return date to a month or two later once I'm there

I'd happily pay the little extra for the shorter flight times. Long flights aren't much fun, well they can be OK actually but generally they drag in.

Only £90 or so difference, will be well worth it.

Anyone know anything about days or travel?
I've found Wednesdays to be the cheapest here, but if you're going to Berlin, a lot of their business travelling is done on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so its a lot pricier.

The best bit is in India where he does his silly dance wi the indian women then they break into the indian style dance. Quality! :)

My unoriginal mate saw this and decided to do it all over Europe, exact same dance and everything. I was forced to film him.

Aye I saw that. Every cunts probably at it these days. It'd be quite good fun to do something bizzare in every destination you go to but no point in imitating someone elses gimmick.

Aye, everyone's stealing gnomes these days.

In the thread in SO when I said about bringing something personal, my missus has a little teddy cow thingy that she takes and photographs in exotic places.

Been done to death as well. Met Aussie folks who took an inflatable Kangaroo with them and picture of it everywhere. Same concept just different item.

How do you fit a gnome into your bag and carry that with you? Seems a bit pointless.

It is pointless.

But going by your logic, taking photographs on holiday has been done to death. Nothing wrong with having a little travel teddy (I'ma get one ;)). Its just the same as having a Swiss Army knife that one may take on their travels.

Even with economy?
Not had any problems with BA to the States, but not experienced Emirates so I can't say.

Going to visit some travel agents before I decide on anything, always worth bartering with a human

^ Yup.

Also if you plan on changing any flights, or you need flexibility at all, then definitely rethink on STA, they are a fucking mess when it comes to changing anything, and they can rip you off good and proper, with quite high charges for each flight changed. Generally, they're quite good though, and they get stuff sorted all in one go, but if you're trying to save money or want flexibility then buying flights abroad, direct from airlines and online as you go is easier in some ways.

I'm sure there's been price increases, but if you're going anywhere in South East Asia, then buying flights in Bangkok, Singapore or where ever will generally work out cheaper than buying from the U.K, you save some on the tax at least I think....

Shit i'd like to go to South America some time (I have the voice of this Chilean dude stuck in my head going "mannnnn, the wine, the food, the WEEEEEEMEENNNNN" :D) but i'd want to feel pretty confident with speaking Spanish, before hand.
