Why are the dole taking you so long to pay you?

When I first called to claim I was told I'd be called back with an appointment which never happened, when I finally got in touch with them a few weeks later and landed an appointment they wouldn't backdate it to my original call date because they said I wasn't available to work which was bollocks as it was all their fault. They will try and fuck you over if they can so gey in touch with them if you need.

eDDe I meant to ask this earlier, why did you fly to Cambodia and not go overland especially when you were travelling via motorbike?
 
just got back from two weeks in laos(annual leave from work)
second time to the country and still loved it

Credit Crunch, innit! :) Been working like a bastard this year, and have made about £500!!!

PS ha ha ha at liviing in the next Iceland. :p:)

You should defo come over for a week of partying!! :D

Nah, that's all i've made in commission this year. Luckily i get a monthly advance/retainer. But that has to be paid back at some point.

However I have got some proper trades lined up for next week....fingers crossed.....

But that's why i'm scaling back my travel plans a bit for the year. Already booked Corsica for a week in the summer though, and going to Oman for 10 days (I think) on points and air miles in November.
 
I don't understand how it all works, do you not have a fixed salary then and work only on commission? Whats this retainer / advance stuff and why do you get paid it then have to pay it back?
 
No, I don't have a fixed salary, just X% of everything i make.

I get paid an advance on my commission each month, which is similar to a retainer i guess. However before i get paid commission from my trades, any advances are deducted. So if i don't trade for a few months, when I do trade there is quite a lot to be deducted from my commission to cover the advances.

Make sense?

Nah, not really. If this year goes down the pan in a big way, i'll just find someone else to settle my trades and take my clients to them. However, next week is looking good, and could even be very very good. So who knows!!
 
So if someone else gets your clients and trades...how will you make any money?
 
I'll pay them x% of what I earn to settle my trades, and i'll keep the rest.

I'm still in Hue. Will most likely bus it from Saigon to PP as its only 7 hours and my money is running out. Take a bike across the boarder will cost me more than its worth and I want to sell it in Saigon.
