The Travel Thread - I am lovely and respectful to all in my path PLUR <3 xxxxx

anyone have any travel sugestions for this summer?

thing is this is the first time im actually vacationing in july/august, mid season. im usually more of a may / september kind of guy, not really a big fan of family crowds...

should be travelling with my gf, would prefer places that might offer a bit of advanture :) for instance i loved the croatian coast, and also montenegro... kinda fed up with greece and italy....

Montenegro looks lush, would love to visit. Did you happen to go to Split whilst you were in Croatia? I spent a week there back in 2006... lovely place

Cyprus is a nice place to visit but might not be what you are looking for. When I was there I stayed near Larnaca but visited Kyrenia in the Turkish half which was a great day out. There is also the option of going over to the Troodos Mountains for a day trip.

I've been to Split, I was only there a day though. Montenegro is supposed to be really nice, was going to go there or Kosovo when I was in Sarajevo but ran out of money and had to go home via Split.
 
We passed through split on our croatian journey... didnt really find it that interesting of a place. didnt stay long though... we did however spend a day in Zadar which was a lovely town!

montenegro is nice and interesting, but i quite liked croatia more for some reason. seemed classier somehow.

ah Sarajevo. what an enchanting city. a real treat to visit for a few days. not too long though....

morocco looks like fun, but also hellishly hot these months... i have a feeling id quite enjoy the food though.

what about belgium/ the netherlands?
 
I spent about 4 nights in a campsite at a small village just down the coast from Zadar at a small festival, it's pretty as hell round there and the water is absolutely crystal.

Went from there to Zagreb, we only stayed in Zagreb a couple of nights I think. From there to a festival in Novi Sad in Serbia. After that we went to Belgrade for a while and then to Sarajevo. Then from there back home via a day stop off in Split where I got the plane from. Was a good trip.

I've been to Marrakech for a week which was more than enough, although I would go back to other places in Morocco like the Atlas mountains or Essouira. Marrakech is definitely worth a short visit though, the central square at night is crazy.

Only ever driven through Belgium or spent a weekend getting stoned in Amsterdam so can't say much about Belgium/Netherlands really.
 
Right, fuck yeez all I'm off, as promised. Well in 6 weeks I am anyway. It's a good time to get on an airplane isn't it?

It goes something like this. Malaysia, Indonesia (Java and Bali, Bali to see my dead friend), Sri Lanka (to watch cricket! England! One-day tournament), Philippines and Laos. I'll be writing a blog as I did last time and anyone who wants to follow it can PM me for a link.

Six months later I'll be back. Probably.

I've been putting this off for 2 years. Cancer got in the way. Friends dying got in the way. Shit, it was meant to include Taiwan to see living friend. But living friend died so Bali it is for dead friends memory.

In one way this is really bad timing. But I have to go. I promise I'll be back. <3

The kind women of EADD do make me blush. Thank you Wibz & Inflo. You're too kind. Yeah it's been a fairly shit two years. I'm not sure what I 'deserve' tbh, but I know how to enjoy nice things given the chance. There's a whole wide world out there and to tie oneself down to just one piece of it...well, I've never been great at that.

And thanks for Sri Lanka Flo. That part of the trip was definitely mooted to me first by you a few months ago. I also owe you a PM which I'll get around to some time soon, promise.
 
Pea ess SHM if you are able do me and yourself a favour, make it to the top of Sigiriya and take a picture with a smile for me.

My vertigo overwhelmed me to the point of tears and frustrated paralyses two thirds up with the rusty iron handrail and shallow ledge walkway that I never made it all the way..a mild regret to this day.

It's meant to be beautiful each way you look from up there...

Fuck regrets <3 Strive for happiness.

Im going to be doing SE asia for 6 months. I will probably just be arriving when you depart. Im hoping to do burma, thailand, cambodia, vietnam (south to north on a motorbike), laos and possibly indonesia & malaysia. Id be interested in your travel blog SHM

I want to do Korea next year. You'll have to give me your top tips when you get back! Make sure you eat all the Korean BBQ and drink a lot of soju bombs.
 
^ Will do! I have a mate who lives in Seoul with his Korean girlfriend so I expect they'll be able to show me 'their' Seoul. Having a local show you around is always better imo :)
