@Scrofula lol

I wouldn't walk anywhere alone at night here in SA armed or unarmed (and Im female too so you know I am scared...)

In my younger days have done the drunken shuffle home in a group though and then thinking to myself "how the fu*k did I get home"

It is another case of testicled privilege, I admit.

And some of my journeys staring at stars were when I didn't really want to make it home, so not the best example of safety-first circumambulation.

I have always wanted to be a guy for a day, just pulling out my junk and having a pee on the side of the road lol.

Walking anywhere and not being hassled etc would be amazing!

A friend of my parents had a mental patient that hid in their bushes then decided to walk slowly across the backyard towards their sliding glass door with a pipe in hand as she tried to get the door locked at 2 am. When the cops came he hid on the neighbor's roof for hours before they finally got him. Not that it's a regular occurrence in cookie cutter suburban Huntington Beach but after that I became a bit more vigilant. If there ever was a perfect scenario for a double tap with hollow points..

The Lapua is got to be the closest thing to a perfect medium energy round with good a ballistic coefficient. Not everything requires a Barret.. I do like your Brit Bull pup design as well..

Yeah, the thing with the Barret is that 50cal is a anti-material HMG round and not that accurate...but it's big and can fit a lot of "stuff" in it for speciality rounds like API, Roufus etc

Honestly mate the L85A1 got a bad rep but after it was upgraded by H&K it is a fantastic rifle. The L85A3 midlife upgrade was tremomendously reliable.

And agree on the .338 Lapua ...in my mind it's the best long range round in the world today..people can keep their 300 win mag, 6.5 Credemore etc... Finland FTW IMHO

One of your countryman (i think) got a 2475 meter kill with the Lapua 338 and a L115A3. Not a bad days work. I like the integral muzzle brake that still accepts a suppressor. Accuracy International does fine work..

Being frugal I'm still searching for an Armalite/ DPMS AR-10 but CA isn't friendly to arms enthusiasts.

Yeah, that was Corporal Of Horse Craig Harrison of The Household Cavalry (who I think I met while over there but I'm not 100% sure the guy I met was him).

I loved the AI .338. The early ones we got just had the muzzle brake but after about 2010 we got the new one with the suppressor. They cost like £23,000 each or something silly, but I still feel are the best long range rifle in the world and I'm not just saying that because I'm British ..The L96A1 made by AI that we also had chambered in 7.62 NATO was a fine rifle also.

I believe US special forces used the L115A3 (the 338 Lapua one) as well. Since you've got to believe that units like the SEALs would only use the best and could chose from anything, It must be a fine weapon system.

I'm a big fan of the US AR-15 platform also (and the AR-10...isn't that 7.62?) ...I'm interested in the US adopting the IAR as a replacement for the SAW though..We had a magazine fed, fixed barrel LMG too called the L96 but replaced it with the FN Minimi (M249 SAW in the US) because a LMG that's only magazine fed and has a barrel that can't be easily changed didn't work too well. .that's why we changed to the minimi...

I'm not sure if any if you guys served in the US military but does anyone know why they are doing that?

From what I've heard the m249 was great because of it's ability to operate with either a belt or Box mag but it's heavy. FN SCAR-Lmk in 5.56 & in 7.62 has taken on some interest and even though the MK16 in 5.56 was discontinued the 7.62 is still being used. Also the SCAR fires from a closed bolt till the barrel gets hot enough to cook off rounds, then it automatically fires from an open bolt, crazy..

General Dynamics has a contender the MK5 which is an improved upon Ultimax. LWRC is also continuing with the M-16-A4 and the HK 416/ 417 (5.56/ 7.62) now use the short throw piston system instead of the direct impingement gas tube design.

The m249 is def being phased out though.

Just from what I've read they are phasing the M249 out in favour of the IAW....

lol people will be getting annoyed that we're turning this into a weapons debate..I very seldom mention my time in the army or ny Regiment or role as people seem to get upset ..the way I look at it though, is I fought and many of my comrades died to give people the freedom to hate me for it....so it's all good.

Yeah, the main drawback IMO of the AR platform is direct gas impingment and the fouling that causes. The H&K 416 using a short stroke gas piston (same mechanism is in the AK) is a huge improvement...Id have to look into the IAW more to hsve a better opinion on it's pros and cons though.

One thing to note with the M249 is that while it does feed from either a 200 round belt or STANAG magazine, the housing where you insert the magazine is quite unreliable and sometimes we would have trouble seating the mag properly...it's really just for emergencies when you are out of link.

7.62 versus 5.56 is a whole other debate that I actually feel quite strongly about...In Afghan we were often engaging at 700, 800 meters or more and 5.56 just didn't cut it..hence the introduction of a DMR role using a 7.62mm platform...also the 5.56mm round is designed to yaw and tumble with the base breaking off causing fragmentation and a superior wound cavity, but in practice this was very unreliable and the round tended to just be going so fast that it zipped straight through targets without tumbling or fragmenting...meaning unless it hit something vital, the person didn't go down straight away even if hit multiple times....if things have deteriorated to the point that I actually hsve to start shooting people then I want them to go down now and stay down..not get up again and keep shooting at me...if someone is trying to kill you then having them die from their wounds an hour from now is no good..I want them to stop now...

Sorry for long rambling post...I don't often get anyone to talk to about this on forums...all the bottled up shit is just flowing out now ..sorry again folks

Okay we can chop it off here but yes it was nice to hear a experienced professional's opinion and the fact you have real world use of these weapons systems makes for some no BS opinions.

Thanks for your service BftB.

Yeah, probably best we leave it there before people start to complain.

Thank you for listening though, you obviously know your weapons...

And you're welcome....thanks for the kind words man

Just took my first ever dab coated in dmt. I am on a little 2c-d already but this is awesome now It's like the best visuals I ever got from 2c--c or 2c-d, manifested as dmt=like weird forms and patterns and stuff, I got the hit of the shatter and the electric vibe I get from dmt tuning me in. It was sick! I took out a little more dmt than I intended to, so I believe a sets is in order,

Ok no :_( I can sense the spirit of a woman to the left of me. I wonder where she is now, or if she ever was. I sensed and saw something, though. I'm in front of ornamental candlelight, with geranium and grapefruit essential oil burning over a cancer. haha. A strong cup of a tea I forget the name of but is kind a like yerba mate just a little heavier and earthier. Just as stimulating easily and has theobromine too. I think I shall have another dab.

My body doesn't bounce back the same anymore. It has been two weeks, and I still feel like shit. The dependency is progressing, I am growing weaker to it because of all the energy it takes to detox, and then to do so repetitively. I feel okay today boy... juts not right. I still feel not very muvh anymore.

Why no officer, it's just some wet naps and bottled water. I don't know why it smells like RDX???

th

haha!! seriously though, I had to lug a javelin around on patrol many times and they are heavy as fuck after a few miles in 50 oC heat.

In Britian today you'd go to jail....like forever if you carried a gun in public. Heaven forbid if you used it on the guy trying to rape your daughter...

Sometimes I wish I lived where you do :(
