The Sad Thread (Anti-Snoo) 2 - Tory Britain in Flames

Nice one mate! 20 days is good. :) Is that without methadone or subs? If so then you're doing infinitely better than i am.
tHANKS fUBAR!
I have weaned down from IV morph 120mg daily plus my script oral morph 15mgX3 to just my daily 3 orals for neck arthritis. Oh yeah and a steady stream of weed and 2 or 3 teaspoons of potent kratom daily. The kratom helped, but that was still a real withdrawal. I got my energy back at 2 weeks after some sweaty exercise. The feeling of being proud of myself feels better than the high all day plus guilt feeling ;) also THANKS Evey and Shambles!

So you've swapped one drug for several others? Hardly quitting is it? It's like an alcoholic saying I've quit drinking beer, but I'm drinking spirits to help me get over it.

Yeah I see your point. Somethin about that needle though :) As long as I can pass my urine tests at the pain clinic and not spend minimum 20$ daily on my habit I'm happy!

Congratulations for everyone's efforts! :)
We have to be proud of us as it's fucking hard to quit this shit and keep "living", as if everything is ok.
It took a week to get out of bed. And the craving comes and goes.

Thanks Erikmen :) Tonight there is a LifeRing meeting 15 miles from here. I went last week and was not impressed, so I guess I'll probably just hit that cult AA. lol

I've never heard of LifeRing but agree that AA is a cult that's not suited to all. I don't know where you live but might be worth trying SMART Recovery. They're mostly UK based but do have branches in other countries. They also provide online services, meetings, forums and so on. Given your description of AA as "cult" you may get along with them better ;)

its great to see that some of the people in here are fighting hard in their battle with addiction, just come off a big valium habit and seeing all these upbeat posts make me feel alot easier, everyone keep up the good work, we know how hard it is even changing the small things, man i do feel like a smoke of weed though, looks as if im out of wax so its tocacco and some melatonin for tonights supper =)

My goal is to print up the top 5 pieces or so of literature from SMART and LifeRing that is available online to pass out at the AA meetings to members I like so we can discuss the ideas. I like the high number of AA meetings available but I believe the big book is kind of bunk and rambly.

Big valium habit must have taken some time to taper, right? Weed is the safest replacement therapy I think.

Cannabis is in no way a replacement therapy for benzos, I doubt it would help in any way to deal with the chemical imbalance caused by a long term benzo habit in ccta I'm pretty much certain it wouldnt.

As far as dealing with the psychological aftermath YMMV, I smoked daily for 15+ years but the stuf just makes me paranoid and anxious these days.....just like benzo withdrawal :\

I agree that trying SMART may help. It's CBT based n I've heard good things on it. NA/AA benefits some but isn't for all. It's helped a friend of mine overcome a heroin addiction, 3 years now n no one thought she'd get clean. However, not everyone wants to abstain from everything n / wants to believe in a higher power. We, Bluelight, has an EXCELLENT recovery section here; consisting of The Dark Side (TDS), Sober Living n Mental Health There's lots of threads there consisting of useful information around addiction n recovery, along with discussions around different methods of recovery such as SMART n 12-step programmes. As well as this EADD is an incredibly supportive sub-forum as you've hopefully noticed, due to people personally experienced (ing) addiction / drug-abuse issues.

Tbh, if I could get decent hash these days I would be a LOT happier. Obviously pot isn't a substitute for gear or benzos, but it can help to alleviate pain and promote sleep. I don't understand why many smackheads don't smoke pot. To me, they just compliment each other perfectly...

I don't think you'd like the prices decent import goes for these days, I know I don't:X

Thanks Evey :) I think any focus for ones attention will do the trick, like meetings or karate or yoga, but yeah some kind of group addiction support is nice.
