The 'quit smoking' thread

(Kryal) ^ If you get to the 'ticking the box' 6 month mark I'll buy you a cocktail of your choosing :)
Sorry no cocktails for you.
Now lets talk about what i get cos you didnt quit (beware of the fine print) :D

^^^^
I know i suck.
I actually went and had hypnosis, and really tried quite hard for 2 to 3 months, but i went through a really really rough patch in my life and of course i turned to the only thing i knew to de-stress : smoking.

But im actually really proud of myself at the moment, this is the end of my third week at work and i havent smoked here yet! YAY! although ive kind of made up for it on weekends. But since im not going out this weekend, hopefully by next friday ill be 2 weeks without one at all!!! (and cold turkey as well...)
but im not denying to myself anymore that im not addicted. I AM. but at least hoepfully if i just cut it down to when im drinking/going out, ill eventually not need them.

and m4ddog - ill buy YOU a cocktail of your chosing :)

ive heard of so many people turning to hypnosis to quit. it seems to work (or has for a few of my friends) but ive always wondered why. It just seems like mind over matter to me.

Ive "quit" smoking for about 6 months now. The only habit i couldnt break was social smoking. I cant sit there with another smoker & not have a ciggarette.
I also missed the coffee & ciggarette waaaay to much!

so now i guess im a "social smoker" OH NO! imo the habits harder to break than the addiction.

and as kryal said ---->> the first thing you turn to when stressed is the good old trusty ciggy!

It's time. And I'm doing it the challenging way - with a pack of cigarettes in my car, in my drawer, and in my uni bag, and attempting to have none of them.

Exam period is just around the corner too. hoorah!

the mints are helping somewhat. Toothpicks also. thinking of my current level of aerobic fitness is helping the most though.

^ I used to keep a pack on my TV with a lighter. I think its good to face things head-on (it also helps to think about smoking when you arent craving)

Good luck, will extend my offer of free drink of your choice if you make it 6 months :)

Everybody knows the only way to quit smoking, is to have a group of male chearleaders dressed in tight white shorts and green shirts with sweatbands, follow you round and shout your name out....its the only way.

wow i just lost my post virginity

^^NO GARRY NO! hahahahah thats funny as! :D

Can bluelight get a team of these male cheerleaders in tight shorts together to follow me around when i have a drink in my hand and when i get into my car and after i have a stressfull day. i dont want to be a social smoker! :p

The Gary ads are great. When i quit i expect nothing less.

My theory has always been as long as i quit by 25 then i am sweet. No damage done. As Quitline say, you have to set a date. Well, i have, just in a few years.

Although i may consider pushing that out to 30.

How good is it when your partner doesnt smoke and doesnt give you any pressure to quit. It doesnt seem to bother him at all and most non smokers that i have dated make a big thing out of it. It's makes me want to quit just so i smell and taste better for him.... then again i still don't think i'm actually ready to qui but i always have an excuse.... i'm sick of having excuses.... my lungs are telling me to quit... they feel so full and heavy... it's horrible

I want to... but yeh, lol. I laugh cause its never going to happen. Although.. the more i smoke, the less drugs i use...

hmmmm

I was 21 when I was diagnosed with a malignant polyp (tumor type thingo) in my bladder. Try again. :)
