The 'quit smoking' thread

^^^^^^^
mwahaha
well i was sick, so i told buzzy to hide my cigs so i wouldnt smoke them... and then i just decided i should quit... being sick def helped though
ive been quit for 3 weeks :) im eating like a cow though hehe

I quit jus ova a year ago & i had been smoking for 6yrs. I did it cold turkey & tha 1st month waz definately tha hardest especially going out cuz i *always* needed a smoke while having a drink & all that.
Now i dont even think about it & i *hate* tha smell of cigs. Once u get ova tha habit of having a smoke in ur hand it will soon become a habit *not* 2 smoke.
Stick 2 it & ull feel MUCH betta, promise! :)

Sorry for not replying to anyone yet - I've spent the last two days drinking whiskey and bourbon, and right now, while I feel extremely fucked, at least I can read the screen. ;)
For those thinking about patches, they work - they cut (by my estimation) around 60-70% of the cravings out. You might even think they don't do anything... until you try going without them.
The only other real option is Zyban. I've tried this twice - once with great results (no cravings, quit for a couple of months, the longest I've ever quit) and once for two weeks, when it made me suicidal. ;) Not recommended.
Other options...
-Those stupid plastic smokes with the menthol and nicotine cigarettes. Don't do a thing - great waste of money.
-Gum. Not good for a thing. Only way this is even worth using is if you have a smoke while you're using the gum (better with a patch too) - you'll get some slurring of speech. ;)
------------------------
That said, only a few hours of smoking left, and I still have half a pouch of Port Royal here, so I'm off to go roll some bomber joints and make myself sick, while my stomach screams at me for raping it all weekend. :)
Pleo - I have no idea where the hell you find all those pix, but they fucking rock man!
And like Tsunami said, good luck to all :)

This post is to mark the passing of my nicotine career (hopefully!), from the time I wake up after going to bed in a minute. Wish me luck!
And g'luck to all the other quitters! :)

Well, this is to mark the passage of the longest day in history. Can't believe I've only been awake for just over 7 fucking hours. Plus, I'm not meant to use patches - apparently the volume I smoke puts me into the highest category of hardk0re smoker, and only uber strength gum is recommended.
Still haven't smoked today. Give me someone to kill. %@(^*
I am one angry, ANGRY boy today.

It didn't start out meaning to be self indulgent (was just meant to be about quitting in general), and now that it's turning out that way, I hadn't actually planned to post in it again.
I'll see if it swings, else I'll lock it.
Back on topic...
I'm finding it much easier to quit from rollies than from normal smokes, so hell knows what they put into normal cigarettes... Anyone ever noticed that rollies "don't do it for them"?

jakoz, it depends what rollies you smoke
also, they both still have nicotine
but potatoes apparently have the largest natural source of nicotine (other than tobacco of course)

Yep, I know they still have nicotine, but I'm convinced that's not it.
When I used to smoke normal smokes, then had a rollie, the rollie just wouldn't do it for me. Not the nicotine - that was still there, but something else. What I'm getting at is that I'm sure that some of the shitload of extra additives that seem to be added to normal smokes either compound the addiction or are addictive in their own right.
The funny thing is that, like I said, I'm finding it much easier to quit from rollies with nicotine replacement, whereas the same nicotine replacement just didn't do much for me when I quit from normal smokes.

*throws some dynamite towards Funky's direction*
Just for everyone's info I have pretty much quit. Yes I have the occasional cig sometimes, and yeah I smoke if I go out, but other than that I've stopped which is something of a miracle.
The good thing is that now (except at parties) I have the willpower not to smoke or buy any, but the cravings are still there, and they won't go away.
Perhaps I'll have to try some patches.

The cravings haven't been all that bad for me - i went to the shop and got patches and gum but so far haven't used them - i quit last time without anything so I'm going to try cold turkey first. I'd just rather have the gum n patches here if a bad craving does decide to hit me. I'm not impressed at their bloody prices - i've already spent more than i did smoking.
My moods however... omg i feel so sorry for the poor salesman thingo that ignored the no hawkers sign at our offices... and for the poor girl on reception that told him i was the one to speak to.
I made the girl cry :( And I rang the guys manager and ripped the shit out of him whilst the guy was in my office. Normally I'd just say no thanks and show him the door then politely remind the girl that me telling her that i was not to be disturbed meant that barring death i was not to be disturbed.
:(

I have *tried* to quit many a time, usually when I have no money in my pocket, and say farken, If I didnt smoke, I would have money in my pocket now!
So I dont smoke for 2-3 days, then payday comes around!... *off to the shop I go*

Third day and going strong. :)
Actually, it seems to be getting worse every day so far...

Made her cry again today. :( :( :( :( :( Left work at lunchtime cause I think I can be more productive away from people who are constntly getting on my nerves by doing stupid things...
Still no cravings really, tho i have chewed the ends off of several pens and ruined one of my silk work shirts with blue ink :(
