Cats squeee!
Really nice photos tg

Geese always fucking chase me, i think they can smell the fear.

I thought macro was more designed for tiny tiny small things like plants and insects and such like rather than cats.

No shit sherlock.

I just thought the macro feature was designed for things which were very small.

The macro feature on the Cybershot isn't all that great. Tried to take photos of a ladybug the other week there and when I got up nice and close it was too blurry to be a decent photo. From even a little distance you couldn't make out what it was.

macro focus range: 4cm

which means it won't focus on anything closer than that.

switch it to macro mode (the little flower setting), go in close, push the shutter button button halfway until it focuses, then take the photo.

the macro on that camera should be shit hot.

Yeah I've used the setting many times but trust me getting a decent detailed photo of something as small as a ladybug doesn't happen. You'll see the photo I posted here of it the other day, that was the most detailed I could get and I spent ages trying to get a decent snap.

what camera would people recommend for someone on a currently very restricted budget?

Yes that's exactly how I took the photo as you described. What is it you have no idea about? I'm not asking any questions I'm just telling you it's difficult to get a good detailed shot of something so small.

£100 is a budget camera Pingu. These cyber-shots are value for money.

What about this bad boy?

^ lol

i don't know what you're doing wrong or what's wrong with your camera. cos it should be perfectly capable of taking great macro shots.

Trust me I tried and tried and that was the most detailed shot I could get. Which I found quite poor. :\

Try and take a pic of something as small as a ladybug for example and see for yourself. :)

Yes, macro is close up. I *love* macro shots. :)

For example, look at my ring close up:

i know it's not as small as a ladyBIRD, but it shows you the detail you can get close up.

LISTEN.

I know you can get good close up detail of larger things like rings, not debating that but you try and get a good detailed macro shot of a ladybug/bird or something a similar size and see how bloody difficult it is. :p
