The Photography Thread

I really like the isle of arran, I want to go back and do the pub crawl around the island properly

Been messing with photoshop again. Few small changes to the pic. What do you think? Did I make it better?

It's the Stari Most bridge in Mostar, Bosnia. Beautiful place with a lot of history. :)

top one looks far better, second looks washed out when compared to first IMO

Yeah I think I see what you mean. I just played with the 'auto' colour, tone, curve features etc thinking photoshop would do a decent job but maybe it didn't. :\

i just messed about with it for 2 minutes in the vista photo editor.

i don't think there was much wrong with the original actually. in the second one you've made the sky lighter, which i don't like. i'm a total sucker for nice blue skies. %) edit: so did i, d'oh!

nice photo... but if you're taking a photo of a bridge, try to get the whole bridge in the photo!

^ Beautiful photo but yes, frustrating not to see the whats on the other side.

I picked a load of these pods then came home and thanks to BL realised I had wasted my time!

You've given it a 'warm' feel Felix I like that. Nice. :)

The photo wasn't just of the bridge, it was just the scene in general. The bridge, the water, the tree's, the buildings round the side of the water etc. Was just all nice to look at. ;)

ok, i understand that. but it's worth bearing in mind though. it only takes a second to think about the composition, and move yourself or zoom in or zoom out, or if you're not sure, take a few slightly different ones.

Pffft composition. :p

I was sure, the picture I got was the shot that I wanted. ;)

hehe, well you did ask!

for the record, out of that last 6 photos i posted, i only liked 2 or 3. the rest were crap. ;)

composition is probably the most important thing to get right, i reckon.

I can't be arsed to even go back and see what those 6 photos were.

It probably is the most important thing aye, I'm starting a photography course in December at college, just an evening thing. Hopefully shall learn a few bits and peices and start taking better snaps. I'm looking forward to getting to Edinburgh and going out with the camera. There's so much lovely scenery to be snapping! :D

cool.

do us (and yourself) a favour though. please stop using the words 'snaps' and 'snapping'. :|

unless all you ever want to do is take 'holiday snaps'.

god, i fucking hate that expression.

SNAPS SNAPS SNAPS SNAPS!

The main reason why I want to get decent at photography is so I can take better pics when I'm on my travels, do the temples and amazing buildings and what have you that I see some sort of justice.

I don't mind taking SNAPS of other things but I only get really into and interested when it's something I'm passionate about.

I lack the creative flair that you really need to be a good photographer, I'm just not a creative person unfortunately. :(

Oh aye that's what I meant to ask Felix. Does your CyberShot ever have 'file errors' when your browsing through your SNAPS. Like you'll be looking through and instead of a picture coming up you'll get a blue screen with 'file error' written in the middle?

that happens when you've viewed a PHOTOGRAPH on your computer through a cable or card reader and rotated it. then when you view it on the camera, it doesn't recognise the file. you should still be able to view them on the computer though.

we should start a photography thread to keep all this in the same place.
