The Photography Thread

I thought as much Shambles. Yeah picture is a bit grainy now you mention it and taking a new one isn't possible at this present time. :D

There isn't always something sturdy to rest on but I'll definitely remember to check out the ISO setting in future, it's one I often forget all about.

Thanks Spadey :D.

But I like the first one best - nice and atmospheric :).

Oh, and as for sturdy resting places, it's worth thinking a bit creatively - rest the camera on the ground or lean against a lampost or something. And have a play with around in manual mode. The auto-settings for night-time pics use the flash automatically which can screw up the picture. Try switching the flash off and go for a long exposure.

I'm a bit of a lazy bugger when it comes to using auto-settings, but a bit of fiddling can produce some good results :).

I have a point and shoot so can't really change any settings bar turning the flash off or using a different mode.

And yes, the first one is brilliant. Quite an eerie atmosphere. :)

Thank you all for the kind words, and I'm glad you liked 'em folks - makes me all warm and gooey inside :).

Me too (of course ;) ).

Notice how I cunningly stole *ahem* sorry - borrowed - your idea of using the macro for an interesting perspective on the second piccy from your entry in the "Roads" theme ;).

I didn't, but I do now. :D

I reckon you could have done without the flash, mind. It's a bit bright in the foreground.

as always, bob showed his impeccable class and breeding.

That's nice, felix.:)

I wish I had a beach like that near me. You're really lucky. :)

The swan is lovely. How'd you get so close to it, they tend to run away or chase you.

I keep meaning to go down the beach with my camera when the weather is nice, maybe in the next few days. There's apparently Dolphins down there at the moment.

people feed these swans & ducks & geese, so they're pretty friendly. you can walk amongst them and they don't run away or attack you. you sometimes get the odd hiss but that's it. i wouldn't like to mess with them though!

That's brilliant. The ones at the beach near me are quite aggressive. They scare me.
