The Photography Thread: Double Exposure

One of my favourite pics from Torrey Pines beach in California this January

Sancho - what did yo do to the baby picture to get it to look like that? My editing skills are pretty poor. :\

I cheat really. I use Adobe Lightroom, I use one of my own preset settings or choose out of hundreds of downloaded preset settings. I find one that complements a picture and then refine it further to my own taste. It saves a lot time.

I also use a fast prime lens. That gets you the blurring effect (shallow depth of field) due to the large aperture.

I'm getting a decent prime soon (the nikon 35mm f/1.8 ) - can't wait to play around with it. :)

I got asked to do a whole range of photos for my friends (it's their baby).

That's the lens I used and it's superb. The shallow DOF is ridiculous at f/1.8. It takes a bit of getting used to.

Just bought a Raynox DCR-250 for £35. It turns a zoom lens into a macro lens. It's amazing considering the price. I'm using it with a Nikon AF-S 55-200mm in the pick below.

i've been known to pull the odd macro shout out of the bag in order to swoop in and win a photo competition. they're always a crowd pleaser. ;)
