The Official NFL 2005 Season Thread

really nice pics, snakecharmer. except get rid of that manning jersey and put on a black and gold #7. ;)

snakecharmer, your sister is hot. I don't really like the Colts though. But damn dude, those are some pretty damn good seats!

It just sucks that the Colts play in a shitty dome.

I don't understand why all teams north of the Mason-Dixon line don't play in domes. What are we, fucking savages?

I know football is a physical sport and playing in domes is seen as not particularly "macho", but who are we kidding? The spectators aren't macho. We are a bunch of fat (or skinny) lazy, unathletic pieces of shit who live vicariously through these dumb-as-hell-making-millions-modern-day-gladiators.

OK, seriously. When you are in Foxborough in December you are sometimes warned to take it easy on the beer because you'll freeze. What kind of crap is that? Over the alternative, give me a warm dome and a cold beer any day of the week (or just Sundays if you're feeling stingy).

^

And what page of the rule book is weather on?

Before or after overtime rules?

Because it plays to the home team.... how well has peyton done in foxboro in december/january?? How many games have the packers lost at lambeau in december/january?? The home teams live in that weather and it doesn't effect them nearly as much as the away team. Why would they want to put a dome over it to "level the playing field"?? Oh, and the last time I checked, the packers/patriots ect. don't have that hard of a time selling tickets.

1. Domes play to the home team too. Did anybody see how difficult it was for the Steelers in Indianapolis?

2. Your argument about selling tickets is completely groundless and irrelevant.

And anyway, I am asserting a general philosophical point. However, I am not so much concerned about the players playing in the weather. My concern is the spectator being required to watch the game in the fucking frigid weather. If they could construct a stadium that would block the spectators from the elements and subject the players to it, that would be fine with me.

they choose to go. here there were all sorts of fans spouting about never buying a ticket again if they built a dome. personally i think they were full of shit.

i, however, choose to watch the game from my bed. i'd probably do the same if there was a dome here.

If they could construct a stadium that would block the spectators from the elements and subject the players to it, that would be fine with me.

they're called 'luxury boxes.'

;)

Domes do not play NEARLY to the advantage as the elements, that's just silly. Pittsburg had problems because they aren't all that good of a football team. Where do you think miami would have a harder time playing?? @minnosota or @greenbay... definately @greenbay. Greenbay had NEVER lost a home playoff game until Atlanta beat them a few years ago.

My ticket argument irrlevent???

Your whole point was that in the cold, it is unenjoyable to watch a game. Well, money talks to these owners, and they are still selling tickets. So it's not to uncomfortable for some people. Ticket sales are a HUGE part of the argument. If the owners weren't selling tickets, they might look into putting up a dome.

It might be tough for you to wrap your head around this considering you spell at a kindergarten level, but the reason your ticket argument is irrelevant is because:

People may enjoy football more than they dislike being cold.

My point was that, on a regular basis, watching a game in a dome is much more comfortable than watching a game in freezing cold weather.

And my point is the owners #1 concern is winning. They aren't concerned about selling a ticket to a fan who is "uncomfortable" outside, in the weather. They have thousands of other fans who don't care what the weather is like.
Your whole argument is based on the fact that fans don't like the cold weather, and I respond w/they don't seem to mind, ticket sales are great... and you say that is irrelevent. You're right, that reasoning is way above my head.

I'd have to agree, people do enjoy football more than they do being cold, but they don't mind being cold as long as they have football. ;)

back to football-

Fantasy team this week, huge matchup between me and the other 1st place team.

WRs(not sure who to put in the 3rd slot)

C.Johnson
L.Fitzgerald

AND

Wilford @Clev
Stallworth TB
A.Johnson@Bal w/ed reed and ray lewis back

I'm thinking now Wilford because no Leftwich

Probably go johnson, who blew up last week.

Any thoughts?

Dude, I would go with Chad every week. He's the most explosive player in the league, IMO. He's money in the bag. I go with Palmer and Johnson every week, which is why I am in first place in my league.

1. Owners don't generally pay for stadiums

2. Owners aren't always concerned with winning above all. Some are generally concerned with making a profit. And I note that Mark Cuban (obviously basketball) said that buying the Mavericks was the worst business decision of his career.

if it's cold then dress in layers. You know some fans, like myself, actually enjoy a nice, chilly, sunday afternoon. It great football weather.

Plus maybe I'm just crazy, but I prefer real light intstead of artificial lighting. eww. gross. I like being able to look up and see the sky, and skyscrapers, not wires and rafter.

Like CJ said the other day ...... "Pittsburgh, I'm coming to your city and I love you, but I have some stuff to "iron out" in the Steel City." :)

Chad is going to have a big day. Scratch that, HUGE day, so go with him.

I just can't wait to see his first touchdown celebration :D Can he really out-do the Ohio Riverdance, The Proposal, or The Tiger Fist Pump after sinking the putt?

chad and larry are no brainers... I'm talking about my last slot, andre johnson, dante stallworth OR ernest wilford.

plus, with domes, you have artificial turf. which shortens players careers. football is played in all weather. unlike baseball, basketball, and hockey. i'll say this about domes though. adam vinatari is nearly perfect in them. :)

Fantasy:

QB: Brad Johnson.(hey, he's playing Detroit)
RB1: Shaun Alexander
RB2: Cadilac Williams.(can't decide between him and Thomas Jones. Williams @ NO, Jones @ GB)
WR1: Larry Fitzgerald
WR2: Joey Galloway
TE: Chris Cooley
K: Rian Lindell.(i would've played Neil Rackers, but the dumbass hurt himself in practice)
DST: Bears

i'm tied for first, 10-2, in my league with 2 weeks left in our regular season. then 2 games of post season.
