the official NCAA football thread

the reason why the SEC isn't in it this year is its power. we do have seven teams in the top 20. Ohio state got in there because they have an easy fuckin schedule. If Florida or LSU had to play those teams, we would be in it even year. But its true we lost and we don't deserve to he there right now. And even though I love Florida USF does not deserve to be number 2. I think if LSU can beat us in the SEC title gave they will play for the championship. l cant believe that you guys cant admit how easy the Big 10 schedule is compared to SEC. And please don't throw in your Southern stereotype bullShit here, you probably know nothing about us! I do drive a truck, but there is no confederate flag in it, though my great great granddad was in the civil war.

to all Buckeye haters:

we can't help it that we are number one in the nation... AGAIN. we can't help it that this year was supposed to be a rebuilding year and we are once again the talent that judges talent on top of the BCS. sure, the system is a flawed system. but what else can you do but keep on winning? I guess there is one more aspect you can accomplish - win the games you are supposed to win by a lot of points. we have done that. we will dominate our schedule for the rest of the year just like we have. and about schedule - what can we do about that? so we stopped playing our annual Texas game the second game of the year (which was by far some of the greatest college football games in the mid-2000s, it judged who was going to win the National Championship two years in a row). this year nobody is playing us, because we are a powerhouse, and chances are you will lose to us. at least you Buckeye haters can stop this claim when starting next year we will be playing USC for a couple years straight.

we can't help it that the Ohio State University is the program of all programs in the NCAA - for all sports. we can't help it that we are always this good. we can't help the fact that we will go undefeated this year and go into the National Championship game, where if we play Boston College or South Florida we will dominate; and likewise if we play a team like Oklahoma or LSU we will get destroyed.

we can't help being number one in the nation.

as a Buckeye it simply comes natural to us.

signed with respect,

Buckeye Nation

rarely
in all sports? you really don't have a clue. read TLB s post. its true, Ohio state is rarely mentioned in the All sports trophy,

you're right - OSU's schedule is easy (whether it actually is easy or we make it easy will be determined in the National Championship game... again) and the SEC is leaps and bounds a better football conference than the Big 10 as of now. nowhere in my post did I ever say this, even though the "all-mighty" SEC is looking pretty pathetic with Kentucky beating teams like they are (LOL to that).

my post was just venting my frustrations and just apoligizing for being number one in the nation - again. I know it would get old too if I did not bleed scarlet and grey.

hey been I drive a pick-up, too! rather I used to before I moved to Boston. now I drive the train :(

Carp...I just looked again at UF's schedule for this year. In a row:

10/06 at #1 LSU
10/20 at #7 Kentucky
10/27 at #20 Georgia
11/03 Vanderbilt
11/10 at #6 S Carolina

I still think it's a bit of a farce to say we're facing so many "top whatever" teams as the polls aren't worth anything until the end of the season...but damn, tell me we don't have strength of schedule amongst the SEC? I'd say UF would do well to only get one more loss during that run - win them all, no f'n way :o

If you had a team worth supporting, and fans that gave a sh*t....then you could use your HALF of the tickets. Until you guys show up, we'll continue to drink ALL the alcohol and start fights with ourselves. :p

Side note - better with the stadium split in half, or in fourths like they've done recently? I think I like the fourths better - keeps things louder and more interesting, IMO.

Anyone who says OSU isn't amongst the best college football schools is obviously high on something, probably haterade. And I highlighted the OSU and Michigan records just so Wolverine fans know their role as Ohio State's bitch over the course of history. =D

IT makes me laugh to see ao many OSU bashers. We are #1, again. The only reason LSU, UF, OU, etc are not #1 is because they lost, simple as that. OSU has not lost. Every team plays cupcake teams, this year is no different. And I am also tired of hearing everyone say OSU will get killed in the national title game. One loss last yr to Florida doesn't mean anything this year.

The D is better than last years, the offense is looking nice.

Did they vote themselves into being #1? No. The teams ranked ahead of them LOST, so they moved up. Quit ur bitching, the SEC is it's own demon. Buckeyes have no control over UF losing TWICE, OU losing to Colorado (lol), LSU getting defeated by UK (both good teams, but still lost), or USC getting spanked by Stanford (funniest one of them all).

So yes OSU or SFU deserve to be #1.
edit - axl
OSU hasn't lost to anybody they are not supposed to lose to, your team(s) have.
O-H-I-O!!!!

Really? So a team that boasts no victory over ANY team that can't be considered a cupcake should be #1?

Are you serious?

South Florida is a much better team than OSU. I can't say OSU is a bad team... but deserving of a number one spot? Hell no. There defense is good vs. teams with no offense. How will it fare against a real one? My guess is it'll crumble, just like last year.

Part of OSU's lack of strength comes from it's confrence... but it's out of confrence boasts like... middle tennessee, Bum fucked egypt ohio, and who the fuck knows where western kentucky. And what can be said for teams like south florida is that they went into auburn (who by the way is no cupcake) and won. When OSU can schedule more than two semi-tough teams a season... then I'll think they are the real deal. Because frankly their past doesn't concern me. The fact that they are no. 1 for no other reason than they haven't lost does.

all this debate this early in the season is hillarious.... have you guys been watching football this year? look for an average of 1 top ten team to be upset each week.

ohio state is # by default people deal with it until they lose

^^You shaddup. We've only got one or two weeks to bitch about OSU being #1 until they lose. Let us do what we can with it. :!

I laughed when I saw someone projecting BC vs USF for the BCS game, until I realized how feasible that might be :o

USF is not in the same league with OSU, now that IM sorry to say would end in OSU being the champs, but again, not earned.

Wow BA, you guys rocked in the 40s and 50s!

but in recent times, youve got one championship in the last 40 years
Power House

Since 1990 who has been College Footballs power house??
Fla State and Florida have decided who goes to the dance more times than Ohio State...

Its good to have that truth be told!\
Its fun to debate though!

Also, Atlas and TLB are you guys going to JAX??? I know Ill be there, not at the game sadly, but in the parking lot! We should meet up and TLB and I will beat the shit out of you! I like in halfs, cause when the gators are doing bad I HATE those fans that like the other team, with their special cheers and there ITS GREAT TO BE (insert team name to mock florida here)

And I also cant believe how goof Kentucky is it blows my mind... But we arent losing three ina row...

Axl, does your Pick up truck have a Fish Sticker on the back? then it aint no pick up boyeeee!

Nah, I can't make it. I've actually never been. JAX is hostile territory. Dawgs fans have had glass jars of urine thrown at them. I'll be watching it on TV, and maybe I'll make the trek down on a year when I can be assured that UGA will take it (maybe in 2 years time) ;)

I can't make the game - living in Ohio 8), but I can say that the UF-UGA game is what convinced my wife (from NJ) to go to UF. She *had* to go to a school where football was that much fun. Her and her mom made her visit to UF that weekend and ended up going to the game (early 90's when Spurrier arrived) - that made the difference in both our lives. <3 I'm lucky to be married to a woman who is a bigger college football fan than most guys. She is on my case every New Years to pull all the tvs into one room for the bowl games :D

I do owe atlas some time, however. Maybe next time I'm back in that neck of the woods we'll toss back a beer or two. Then again, I'd really like to see a bunch of people in Jax sometime....maybe a meetup for whomever can make it (next year at best :\ ).

I've not heard of UGA fans being hit with urine jars (or anyone for that matter), and I've always had great times at those games (easy when you win :) ). But it does raise the question for everyone - who are the worst, and in fairness best, fans from other teams that you personally have ever come across?

For me, the worst was LSU but it wasn't their fault. It was when they beat us, at LSU, when we just got to #1 or something a few years back. My buddies and I had been drinking all day and were demoralized after that game (they tore the goalposts down). We were wrecked but couldn't stay the night and listen to all the car horns and hootin' and hollerin' and celebration. Took turns driving the 8 hr drive back to G'ville (took us about 12 :\ ). So, it wasn't their fault, but that was my worst experience with 'other' fans. Best fans, probably South Carolina - we went up there and blew them out in the game that year, but everywhere we went everyone was helpful and friendly (and with a drink in their hand). Good people.

Great Question!

Last year I went to the Tennesee game, @ Tenn.

The people there were complete assholes! When Tenn was up, they would yell at us and taunt and not shut up. When we were up they would yell at us and stuff. walking to the game people were yelling at us and saying we suck!

During that Florida State game that brought about the college reviews and challenges. (the one with about 20 questionable calls, ALL going to Florida State). Mind you it was in Gainesville, the FSU fans were all yelling haha you guys suck, and fuck off, and all kinds of rude shit! Ive never been rude to an opposing person, if anything, its cool to talk to people from "the other side".

Id have to say that Florida State fans are the rudest sons of old red necks Ive ever come across. Especially for a game that everyone in the NCAA knows Florida won.
