the official NCAA football thread

that would be hilarious if OSU makes it to the NC. I would spit in the BCS's flawed face.

OSU still has the chance to get in the game, thats for sure, but beat LSU? I will spit in the Big 10s face!!!

Zook wa just not good for Florida, he completely ruined Rex Grossman as a QB.... or did Steve Spurrier... Rex is not an option QB and Zook fuckin made him run the option like he was Tommy Frasier. Zook should have fun 'n Guned his first season with astrong passing game and got to his shit when Chris Leak came to florida. But zook got some bad press when the light should have fallen more on Ed Zaubrecher, HES the fuckin doosh bag that killed the Gators for four years... I respect Zook because he got us some big wins, Ed Zubrecher on the other hand is a complete ass and I hate him

sad situation for the ducks and dennis dixon. apparently his acl was torn before the game and they decided to start him anyway.... after watching brady leaf take a giant shit all over the field i can see why.

oh yeah, there's a pretty big game being played today in that toilet in se michigan. go bucks!

hah, the name "leaf" is becoming synonmous with "horrible QB play". that idea has now been cemented, i've never seen a more timid QB in my life than him last night.

i'm pulling for KU (gotta love the underdog).

if tebow doesn't win the heisman, someone should get arrested. 20 pass td's AND 20 rush td's, the first player in CFB history to do so. he's carried that team on his shoulders. but i guess if kansas goes undefeated it'd look bad if reissing didn't.

What a FUCKED up season it's been this year lol. Texas Tech beating Oklahoma was the 11th time this season that an unranked team has beaten a top 5 team.

And, we have a chance at seeing a team unranked in the preseason win the NC game for the first time since 1981 lol. What a year it's been lol.

GO BUCKEYES. life is so good when you pound Michigan. Mike Hart is 0-4 against Ohio State his career. Beanie Wells obtained his third game this year rushing over 200 yards.

Heisman?

*snicker.... snicker...*

14-3
Ohio State Buckeyes piss all over Michigan, again.
Lloyd Carr, Mike Hart, Chad Henne all losers.

If a 1-6 record against Ohio State isn't cause for a new Michigan head coach nothing is. The game was messy, drizzly, wet, and at times boring to watch. But the greatest rivalry in college football goes the way of the Buckeyes, once again, and Michigan has been reduced to *maybe* playing in the kleenex bowl this year. For all that trash talking Mike Hart did he backed up none of it. Way to go, tough guy. =D

And still I hold to the idea that Kansas or Hawaii should be #1 and #2. Look, USC had no business losing to shitty Stanford. Ohio State had no business losing to Illinios. Appalachian State has NO business beating Michigan - BUT THEY DID. And shit happens, under dogs can beat ANY opponent on ANY weekend as we have seen.

Which is why Kansas (or Hawaii) should be #1. They could have been knocked off by any one of their 11 opponents, under dogs or not, and been 10-1. No team is guaranteed a win, despite who you are playing.... just sayin...

^As for Kansas, we'll see what they're really made of when they play Mizzou.

I'm still in shock about this whole season. Mizzou has looked really good this year. I know there had been guarded optimism at KU regarding the football program, but nobody expected this kind of season. And my beloved Illinois has finally become an actual, legitimate team. Juice has a lot to learn, but he's got brass balls, and that can be enough to statch a game from OSU.
And the great thing is that if Illinois keeps playing this well, they could completely usurp several other traditional powers that are on the decline (Notre Dame, for starters).

I can't fucking believe the Vols spend so much time down against Vandy, only to snatch victory by a measly point. Die Tenn DIE.

I turned the game off thinking Tenn lost, and started to pray yall would lose.
Very suprisin , I cant see Tenn losing to Kentucky next week though

^ I bet LSU is praying Tennessee wins next week. GA stands a much better chance at beating LSU than Tennessee does.

As much as I like LSU, I'm enjoying all the chatter from the talking heads about McFadden turning his shit around, trouncing LSU next week, and winning the Hiesman.

As for The Dawgs chances: If the vols can just barely eek out a win against perennial prison bitch Vandy (though the 'dores beat both the vols and the dawgs as the visiting team last year), Kentucky definately has a shot as spoiling their plans of going to Atlanta. If the Dawgs win out, they'll play a great game of football against the number 1 team in the country. I don't know if they'll win, but it will be great football.

I would really like Tennessee to lose and get GA into the SEC championship game. But, I wonder, if GA makes it there and ends up beating LSU, what the hell is going to happen to the BCS NC game? Say Missouri beats Kansas, Tennessee loses, and GA beats LSU, what kind of jumble of teams will make the BCS make any kind of sense? That scenario could possibly put Ohio State back in the NC game.

God, what a convoluted system this is. Obviously, the system needs to evolve, because the way it is now, it makes no real sense.

I watched that crap :| Vandy gave it to them, what with having such a lead then giving up 2 touchdowns, then a big return to set up the field goal...all their posessions in that time frame and all they needed was ONE field goal. TENN should be dead already. I wholly and sincerely wish KY to end their losing streak to TENN and beat the crap out of them. UGA is a MUCH better team to play LSU in the SEC Championship. Though I also hope and expect LSU to win that one (not a given, but it's what I'd prefer, just to keep LSU in the NC game).

I think it was hilarious to watch TT spank OU so handily, knowing that whomever wins between Mizzou and KAN, either one has a great chance to lose to OU in the Big12 Championship thereby knocking their conference out of the NC. I honestly haven't watched any MIZZ so I don't know how good they really are, but I don't think KAN will hang with LSU.

OSU and their NC hopes hanging on how good UCONN can play 8) Now THAT is funny....but I can't laugh because I might throw up thinking they can back their way into the NC game. If they did, I have absolutely no doubt they'd get the same result as last year if they are matched up with LSU. Still, here we are with 1 regular season game left, and a few conference championships, and we're still sitting with anyone ranked 1-7 (yes, UGA*, even you) in the BCS with a shot at the title game. So much is possible.

*UGA beats GT regular season, then LSU in the SEC (#1 is out, boosts SoS and keeps you alive); KAN beats MIZZ and loses to OU (no big 12, and #2 and #4 are out); UCONN beats WVU (#3 is out), OSU is done playing so they'll be waiting for you at the NC (#5), and ASU still has their game with ARIZ (#6 could get knocked out). There you go, fellas - OSU vs UGA for the NC - possible, and interesting. I think I might lean to OSU in that matchup.

True but dont you think if either Kansas and/or Hawaii played 6 ranked opponents (a la LSU) this season that they would still be undefeated...

Kansas has dodged both OU and Texas....Hawaii's only notable opponent this season is their upcoming game against Boise St....

Its like if it were the NFL and you made the playoffs but never had to play any other playoff teams to make it there...

Im not saying schedule strength is EVERYTHING....but it is indeed a big factor

Dont forget though that Texas Tech has been ranked most of the season i believe....They recently went through a slump though....But apparently they're back on track after beating up on OU

Oh and dont worry KU will most prob lose....And im thiking it will be next week vs Missouri and then i believe that OU takes Missouri down knocking all Big 12 teams out of the NC chase...

Oregon would've been a great NC match up against LSU....But we'll see....I think OSU will squeak on by....Im not sure if WVU, even if they win out, will make it to the NC if the Big 12 scenario above plays out....

As an LSU fan....I think playing Tenn in the SECCG is the easier road to the NC but i still want payback for '05....UGA is playing great football atm....and they would be a big time test for us....But we need to regain the title of best SEC team of the 2000's we lost in '05 to UGA....So go Bulldogs...down Vols!!

Lemme reiterate though....Arkansas and McFadden scare me...they have a pretty good chance at shaking up the BCS even further...

I'm curious, given BA's logic, if he had UF as number one until they lost their first game. I mean, at that point, everybody is even, so how do you put one team ahead of another? Going without a loss for the longest? Biggest win most recently? All these factors had UF starting this season as #1, when everyone knew they obviously weren't that good. I'm not sure they deserve top 10 ranking even if they win this weekend and their bowl game. But by BA logic, they'd have been #1 until they lost their first game.

So tell me, BA, is that how you see it? I'm curious. It's obvious nobody can change your view, and I can respect that, but I would like to know how your logic applies to everything else.

High Fucking Treason, Reed. You'll be first against the wall ;)

I'd say that's an oxymoron. ;)

As for National championship pairings: If the Sooners can lose to TT, they can damn sure lose to Kansas or Missouri. Not terribly likely, but stranger things have happened every week this season. UCONN and WVU isn't quite as problematic to me. The Mountaineers are a quality program, and UCONN just isn't, not yet anyway. WVU would bury them, and, I would say, make an excellent NC team.

LSU would destroy Tennessee, no question. I'm very happy there aren't any Knoxville rednecks on bl, because I'd never hear the end of how great Ainge is, and how he'll go on to be as good as Manning (or all three mannings put together). The dogs, the way they've been scoring in the second half of the season, and the way LSU has been playing in the redzone, could win handily. They could also completely fail to show up until midway through the third quarter like they did for the Tennessee loss, and the Sugar Bowl loss to WVU a few years back.

LSU, if they beat Arkansas and UGA, are with out a doubt, better than any other team in college football this year-- better than Kansas and Hawaii, better then the Buckeyes sans loss to Illinois, better than Florida with Tebow healthy all year, better than Oregon. I'm very torn about the whole thing. Les Miles is probably being courted by Michigan, which I find gross and distasteful, and I hope he doesn't go. I want the SEC to retain their best coaches, and win the clutch games that show us off as the premier conference. I don't know if I can have my cake and eat it too this time around, especially with my boys standing in the way of "the best team in football"
