The Official NCAA Football 2005 thread

I have to tip my hat to Texas.

They made the plays when they had to.

OSU could only muster 9 points off 3 turnovers.

The BIG XII referees were average. I saw some missed calls, bad spots of the pigskin, and a SIDELINE WARNING was very generous.

I just hurts as a buckeye right now.

1 thing:

ABC was on Vince Youngs cock!!!!!! I mean they were blowing him every chance they could. I dont know how he kept it hard for 60 minutes.

I support Tressel and every decision he makes.

Serious? 'Ann Arbor is a whore' is a long-time jab OSU fans use when refering to Michigan. It's on shirts, bumper stickers, hats, you name it.

Yep. What a heartbreaking loss. I think overall the Buckeyes played really good, they just had a few bad breaks in the end.

They should've been able to turn at least one of those turnovers into a TD.
And I also think Tressel made a bad decision playing Zwick late in the game instead of Smith. The way Troy and Antonio were running the ball we could have easily got down the field and got a FG to win. But hey, if Zwick would've driven down the field, all would be good, the ball just got stripped.

But hey, trying to stay positive here, if we win out than who knows, the Rose Bowl isn't out of the picture. And I still feel good about our chances at winning the Big Ten.

Go Bucks!

what a heartbreaking loss. at least I was prepared for nothing less than an amazing smash-mouth football game, and at least I got that.

living in the heart of OSU campus here were some of the highlights of the night:

1) right after the loss I go on the porch to smoke a square and the fella in the apartment complex across the streets starts screaming "Fuck Jim Tressel!" while smashing an oak tree with an aluminum baseball bat. he goes back inside and then returns to the streets of Columbus with a paper bag on his head with two holes for eyes because he was so "ashamed."

2) Witnessing two fights, one in front of the UDF and the other on 16th where a crowd of people, including myself, got sprayed by a hose by the circling Columbus Police. everyone thought it was water and we all frolicked in it. the punchline is that the said water was actually mace (not the rapper).

3) During the aforementioned second fight when the police were first approaching a belligerent young man was screaming through a road cone "let the police do their job" and then gave up and threw the cone at the police and got arrested.

troy smith needs to be the starter. i've never bought the two quarterback system, especially when the offense has question marks all around it. let the team develop some sort of cohesive attack centered around one QB as opposed to this stop and go bullshit. both quarterbacks had good and bad moments but i like the way smith runs the offense. he brings more composure and raw ability than zwick does (last minute safety aside). the play action with smith could be extremely effective, if they had a viable tailback....

disappointing game but fun to watch for a bucks fan slightly removed from the violent myopia of columbus:)

The last time I ever saw a 2-QB system work was for Arizona in '98-99 With Smith and Jenkins. They finished in the top 5.

Of course, I've seen plenty more times where that system never works, two currently w/ Tennessee and Ohio St.

I think the overwhelming consensus is that Smith should be the starter, and I'd expect him to be man soon since Tressel will be hearing about it every day until he gives the people what they want.

As a pac-10 follower, I'm sad to see the main rival conference falter so badly this weekend. Hopefully they bounce back, but my hopes for a traditional Rose Bowl have been damaged rather quickly.

Then again, there's a big game at said Rose Bowl this weekend w/ the Sooners coming into town to face my beloved Bruins. I said it before the season, and I say it again. I expect the Bruins to pull the "upset". Frankly, I hope they put a massive beatdown on those overrated punks from Norman.

Texas did look good, and that QB was awesome. He pulled them up 10 points right off the bat, then brought them back from a deficit. I can't fault a man for that, I just wish Hawk would have leveled him real good one time to slow him down some.

A new joke amongst my friends is, whenever we'd say the words "fucked" or "messed" we now say Zwick'd. As in, "You sure Zwick'd that last exam" or "Stop Zwick'n around, I don't want beer spilled on the table." (I guess you have to be there to appreciate this) ;)

Dude if your going to bring up another sport---at least find a real one. Cricket is like retarded old man baseball with tea times. Baseball is a stupid game.

At least talk about like rugby or something.

i agree baseball is a stupid came. american football is a stupid and slow moving version of rugby, which like the cricket we stuffed those colonial upstarts at. you fail to understand that cricket is the most skilled team sport in the world and it needs tea breaks, the chaps need to go to the lavatory you know. if you enjoy watching a load of meatheads getting a egg shaped ball from one end of the field too the other, stopping and starting every five minutes then good for you. i just enjoy, like a dare say your goodself does, basking in a bit of sunshine that victory brings. cheers

cricket the most skilled team sport in the world...hahah...riiiight.

I'd love to hear an argument supporting that.

the arguement would be long and drawn out like a test match and would also need plenty of tea breaks.

Football is THE GAME in America. Period.

Still tryin to get over the loss, but I'm still thinking OSU has a shot at the Rose Bowl. If we can win out, and hope that certain teams all lose, then we could be in. The good news is that we lost but it was early in the season, alot could happen between now and December.
Wouldn't it be sweet if OSU did run the table and we got to meet Texas in the Rose Bowl? I know they wouldn't blow it this time.

GO BUCKS!!!

so far, I'd agree heh. That would also include my rebuttals and usage of various other team sports to counter your claims. :)
