Few people have said its dissapointing that Waugh didn't push harder for the win so that he could go out on a high and it was a bit of an anti climax. Ya gotta remember what sort of person Steve Waugh is. He isn't about himself, he is all about 'the team' and not individuals. The most important thing in his mind would have been the result of the game. Its quite simple really, the 1st objective would be to win the game, if thats not thought possible then the 2nd objective is to not lose the game i.e. draw. I didn't think the end was an anti climax at all. I was glued to the my chair in front of tv (in melb) all day and could barely blink when Waugh batted. The standing ovation he got walking onto the ground, the cheers that went up every time he played a delivery or made a run, the harmless jeers at the indians everytime they fielded a ball depriving Waugh of runs, was all brilliant. The lap of honour after the game on the shoulders of his team was all very emotional stuff. Says a lot about the values of Australians and importance we place on sport.
I personally can't wait for him to write his next book, apparantly it will be an autobiography of his total cricketing life spaning 18 years. I've read all his previous books and found them incredibly interesting and quite well written for a professional sportsman. If ya get a chance to read his books, do so because they give you a pretty good insight into his mindset and the type of person and leader he is.
