The only way i see the Aussies getting out of this one is to make 400, declare then try to bowl the indians out for a small total (not likely considering the form of the indian batsmen) and try to make the runs needed to win. However in the real world I can't see this ending up more than a draw.

P.s. I should have had some money on the draw... it was paying $3.50 on thursday!!
 
Well now we have to make 443 or so in a day to win the match. If this happens it will be one fantastic achievement and mostly deserved. India have batted so well this match and this series and they pretty much deserve to win this match, in fact they definitely deserve to win the match.

I'm gonna do my best to get to the game tomorrow... should be a fantastic day of play :)

I think that if the aussie top order, namely Langer, Hayden + Ponting, give it a top go, there is NO REASON why they can't do it....a double ton from ponting again, and a century from hayden, and one from langer and we're there.....India's bowling line up is depleated bar Kumble (fucking genius performance today i have to acknowledge) and moments from Agarkar.....ah shit maybe Pathan too, but not really...

My point is it makes no difference that it has never been done before....705 was never made in an innings before at the SCG either, and look what happened....

Why do they even need to get down as far as Ponting? Hayden can score all 433 runs himself while Langer ties down the other end.. easy. 8)

we shant remember one of the great australian cricketers by one test series. we will honour him over and over for achievemnets like a century in both innings at old trafford.
cricket bores me, but great achievements inspire me.

Well, this is annoying....not only cause Australia is either going to lose or draw this match, but because I would think Steve Waugh would try harder to go out on a winning note.....i would have thought that he would rather go out trying his hardest to win, even if it meant in the end losing....

But they now need about 200 runs in about 20 overs.....it was not too hard at the start of the day, but it seems so now.... :(
 
Okay, so heres a Saffer busy hijacking the aussie cricket thread, but its the final day for SA/West Indies and think we are in store for a draw, but cricket is such a twistedgame ... So chins up Aus ;)

i have no particular political sympathies.. but this guy is an asswipe and if i was in his class @ school i would bully his arse so bad he could never shit again.

sometimes i wonder if cricket's popularity has been increased dramatically due to TV coverage... and whether the networks give it so much attention because it is so nicely structured for placing ad breaks every few minutes.
now i know that's a bit chicken and eggy... but i thought it worth mentionning. dont get me wrong, i aint ragging on the sport. one day action rox. any sport when it gets down to the time on period etc, and if the score is close gets exciting for me. i love sport.
 
^^ That's not a bad point actually....it prolly is an advertisers dream.....altho i don't think it is the reason for its coverage.....it is an immensly popular event, most games that is, that people want to see televised....especially when it is only at the cost of shit daytime tv....
