The official antidepressant/psych meds thread

Former heavy abuser of stimulants (MDMA, Coke, Meth)

Anxiety & Panic attacks -

Effexor XR - 37.5mg/day (Lots of energy, sometimes palpitations)
Seroquel - 25mg/night (Can't sleep without it - Shuts down the neurotransmitters for the night?)
Imovane - 7.5mg/occasionally at night (When the seroquel alone won't work - this Shuts down GABA on top of whatever seroquel does)

Been on these for the past 2 months - It's been up and down - overall I'd say I'm feeling better. But I've gained about 15 pounds and my heart beats a lot faster.

At the moment

Prozac, 20mg
Ritalin 10mg QID
and thats about it

Been on
Moclobemide (aurorix) (made me feel detached),
citalopram,(Cipramil)(worked at first then took me years to get off it)
escitalopram(Lexapro)(anxious,weird feeling)
zoloft(Sertraline),(zombie)
Paroxetine(helped but caused anxity attacks),
effexor(awesome while it lasted, nightmare to get off),
inipramine(12yo treatment for add),
Atomoxetine (made me want to kill myself)
Mirtazapine (Avanza) Half dose knocked me out for 15 hours!
St johns wart (made anxiety and depression worse)

Depression is Fucked! I am about to go up to the highest dose of prozac the it will be withdrawl and start again.
I actually think ADD was at the root of alot of my problems, maybe also temperal lobe damage/dysfuntion

Here goes.....

Here's what I'm on:

Lexapro 20mg
Seroquel 25-75mg at night for sleep.

I'm a huge fan of the Seroquel, it has changed my life and allows me to
get proper rest. I find the Lexapro to be somewhat activating...

I adjust my dosage of both of these at least 4-5 times a year. I usually tweak the Lexapro seasonally - less in summer / more in winter, and tweak the Seroquel almost daily - usually 50mg each night, but if I find that I have a hard time staying asleep, I'll go with 75mg for a few nights.

Sex: Male
Age: early 20s
Current Meds:
-Lexapro 20mg/day (for generalized anxiety)
-Xanax 3mg/day (for panic disorder)
Previous Meds:
-Effexor
-Lithium
-Neurontin
-Ambien
-Vistaril

I'm so addicted to Xanax it's not funny. Stay away from Xanax, cause it makes your symptoms a lot worse in the long run, though it is quite helpful for immediate relief of panic/anxiety symptoms. Makes me feel like a zombie mostly all the time, too.

20ish Male

Current Meds: None, last took celexa about 7 weeks ago.

Past perscribed meds:
Celexa 60mg (8 months)
Wellbutrin SR 300mg (3 weeks)
Zyprexa (About a month, cant remember this period of time much at all)
Risperdal 1mg (3 weeks)
Novo-Pranol 20mg (3 weeks)

Celexa was for moderate depression. Glad my doctor found the right anti-D for me, the first try.
The rest were attempts to help with my generalized anxiety and social anxiety, none helped at all.
Zyprexa made me tired all the time, completely apathetic, and very zombie like.
Wellbutrin didn't have any effect at all.
Risperdal had no noticeable effect.
Novo-Pranol had no noticeable effect.

Anyone know why those different drugs had no effect at all?

Just startaed Wellbutrin SR a few days ago.. self medicating myself just went thru an online pharm w/ free Dr. Consultation.. Could be placebo but I feel better already.

Sex: female

Age: 19 (a little over a month till 20)

Current Antidepressant: 300 mg Lamictal (at least was last current. Been getting off it since haven't had any problems for about 3 months and my body gets used to it too quickly)

Former drug(s) and why discontinued:
Effexor XR: Was on this shit for a month. Ended up bleeding from gums every day, would wake up in the morning covered in bruises (once counted over 100), would get tremors so bad I couldn't breathe and would have to be rushed to the hospital.

Males, early 40's. Bouts of anxious depression.

Some depression and ADHD-like symptoms in family.

Tried SSRI's, they helped a bit, but at normal doses made me irritable. I'm quite sensitive to them.

I suspected I might be a little ADHD, got a psychiatrist to agree, he wrote for Adderall, 10 mg/day. I don't think it's that good for my heart (tachycardia above 15 mg), so I'm not planning on taking it every day. However, on rough days it makes me feel calmer, less scattered, less anxious, and less depressed.

Seems like really good stuff if not taken to addictive or cardiac extremes. It seems likely that the reports of cardiac damage could be due to sustained tachycardia, but I'm not sure of that. However, amphetamines have been around a long time and we know much more about their long-term effects than SSRI's or most other drugs. For me, small doses seem to be the right fit.

P.S. Good diet, enough sleep and exercise also make a huge difference. But I can't or don't always get them. When that happens, in order to avoid having a REALLY bad day that could throw me into a funk, a little Adderall is perfect. But of course it's not a substitute for healthy living.

300mg Wellbutrin XL in the morning
200mg Lamictal at night

I might cut out the Lamictal once my mood is stable from the Wellbutrin.
I've no previous history of mania, besides becoming hypomanic on Paxil....
It's always been _UNIPOLAR_
fucking psych doesn't seem to agree with the obvious, though--apparently Paxil causes about 1% of unipolar depressives to become hypomanic in clinical trials, so it's no indication of bipolar. 8)

Remeron 60mg
Prozac 20mg

For:
Chronic Severe Depression (since childhood), chronic anxiety, panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder

Works for me!

The Remeron is good for the depression, Prozac for the anxiety/panic/obsessional thoughts

If anyone is thinking of getting on Remeron, start at 45mg otherwise you will want to fall asleep all day
------------------------------------------------

Used to take Wellbutrin, worked OK at 150mg a day, at 300mg a day I had heart palpitations, out of control anxiety, panic attacks, impotence, urinary incontinence, dramatic weight loss, hair loss

wow some of u guys take alot of drugs

22 male

current medication
zoloft - 50 mg, been on it for 3 years and has completly rid me of depression and panic attacks, also helped out my social anxiety a bit, was thinking about uping the dose to 100mg to further help with social anxiety however im not sure if more drugs is the answer. its just big crowds that freek me out and people i dont know that well, thinking there saying or thinking bad shit about me bah. only complaint with zoloft is that its harder to cum

previous meds
-dizeapam - great while your on it for sp, made me tired and it was addictive so i stopped taking it after a week and flushed it
-codiene phosphate for 8 months- converts to morphine in the liver at 5%, higher in some other people, i think im one of those people who have over 5%. i knew this stuff was addictive but thought my honeymoon 60mg dose would last a long time. i eventully got my addiction to over 1gram a day heh. while it works its a great anti depressant and anti anxiety, great deep sleeps, made me fuckin lazy and put on weight tho. all up a stupid move, i ditched it 2 weeks ago.
-st johns wort - made panic and anxiety much much worse
-luvox - didnt really help with sextual side effects of zoloft, made me very agro, made me depressed
other drugs that made my anxiety/depression worse
-weed - makes me very anxious
-mdxx/speed - makes me anxious like 1 - 2 weeks after taking it for some reason

Updated: Less Than A Year Later...

What I'm Rxed now...

Lexapro 30/mg daily (for GAD)
Hydrocodone 10/325 x5/day (for pain management)

What else I'm using daily....

Percocet 10/325 x5/day (for pain)
Klonopin x5/day (for... whatever)

Then there's the weekly undefined usage statistics of copious amounts of alcohol, marijuana, psylocybin mushrooms, and cocaine.

Polydrug Abuser, anyone? :p

>>caffeine & nicotine? Try chewing tobacco. If that's not enough try cocaine and pot, or maybe some opiates. These drug companies are pushing bullshit at you for your money. Watch out.>>

Your advice is nicely dubious.
