the official 2011-12 college b-ball thread vers. BASKETYHOOPS

well we lost to duke by 10 yesterday. that said, we played them tough as shit until about 6 minutes left in the game and just couldn't hang. cuonzo let's them play, they looked pretty good.

we play memphis today, so we'll see what happens.

Duke is damn good again. I hate them and Coach Kryzyzneski (but ESPiN insists, that's Coach K to you)

tOSU plays them pretty soon along with Kansas. bit nervous, but it will be a good early-season grading scale for this young team

fuck, lost in double ot by 2 points. i have a feeling we've got a pretty decent squad on our hands.

It was interesting watching the 2 halfs when UK played Kansas. The 2nd half looked like college vs high school with only some stupid Wildcat antics making the game closer than it really was. Poor kids didnt know how to play with a big lead. Size and speed, them Cats got it. Immaturity and some not-so-hot outside shooting too. Lamb, Miller and Jones have to show them freshman how to put the biscuit in the basket if they are going to win it all this year. UNC will be a good early test for them. Jones is a beast though, no doubt.

wassup Wyld! damn, I had nightmares about you last season during March Madness. I'm sure you can figure out why ;)

it's nice to see the annual powerhouse programs, like Tenn, UK, tOSU, etc etc get some pre-conference games in with some solid competition

playing Kansas and Duke will be a test, but what makes NCAA basketyhoops sometimes better than footbaw, is that our teams gain a lot of experience points when playing these games (and of course your team can recover from a loss or two ;))

tOSU has VMI tonight. they're not too bad, a lot better than the post-Florida cupcakes my team has been playing since then

there's so many teams in college bball that i like, for no real apparent reason and i don't really pay attention to

like the entire ivy league...go brown, dartmouth and cornell(ithaca is a pretty hetty town, yo)!

STETSON HATTERS

tulsa

LAMAR and SAMford

pepperdine(man i remember when they used to give gonzaga a run for the WCC title every year)

is anybody else witnessing the Ohio State Buckeyes spanking the Dookies, in Columbus?

this is just baller. it's a star-studded event with LBJ, D-Wade, Greg Oden etc etc in attendance

damn ESPiN insists that Coach K (that's Coach K to you) is so Holy that he could never be beaten by almost 20 points at the half??

Jared Sullinger is looking better than Greg Oden in his NCAA-prime. and that's scary to an unreal level. Sullinger dominates so much, I'm sure LBJ wishes he could hold it down like that... live

by the way harvard is 6-0

you see whose coaching those boys?

tommy fuckin amaker

GTFO of my forum with Harvard Crimson Red Men's b-ball

I will abuse my power and delete your posts. don't fudge with me, you know I will ;)

Buckeyes look like the best team in the World right now. Duke tried to play their strict, well-coached X-and-O offense and defense, but tOSU just muscled away at them for Big Points in the paint, and then the 3-point-lane opened up and that's all she wrote

up next: Kansas. I wonder how Fried Jayhawk tastes, as a delicacy?

I know bro. I am very pumped. seeing my team beat Duke that handily means good things for our future, despite this win being so very far away from March Madness

the Buckeyes have toppled two Top 10 teams in Florida + Duke. however, both of those wins have been at Home

in fact, tOSU hasn't played an away game yet. so imo, the REAL test (and the light at the end of the tunnel of this gauntlet OOC schedule) will be Kansas at the Phog-Allen Fieldhouse

rock, chalk, Jayhawk my ass! beat em up, Buckeyes!

who you guys got?!?

trever mbakwe tore his acl and is out for the season

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although would never be a star, this kid had NBA potential, this is a devestating blow for the gophers, i'm fucking sick of this shit! :(

hopefully the ncaa will allow minnesota to redshirt him, it just isn't fair, it eliminates any sort of expectations i had for them this year

last year it was injuries and transfers

this could be tubby's last year if no NCAA birth, and shit? how they going to top him for a coach?

:(

damn. that sucks so bad for you, CR. I was actually salivating at the chance to see that Golden Gopher play, after all your praise, but it just goes to show that even in the sport of basketball, a player's chances can be destroyed any given second

and I would say that Tubs is gone if he leads Minny to a dismal record. it sucks that the Big Ten is so tough up-and-down, he's going to be shit outta luck

it's cool

gopher's just knocked off VT without mbakwe and ralph sampson III

pertty exciting game that was close all through out

pumped about this win considering they havn't faired well in the acc/bigten challenge in the past and they won with mostly inexperienced players vs a team that was in some eyes the ultimate snub of last years NCAA

some nice play outta this average white farm boy center who prob wouldn't have touched the court all year if it weren't for injuries, awesome to see

minnesota
minnesota
yeaaaaaa
GOPHERS!

gay chant for sure, but it is what it is

Minnesota usually leans on the gayer side, and gay in the Big Ten we know ain't very pretty

but they've fielded some decent baskety-ball teams

how about our conference, tho, CR? the Big Ten is dominating the Big Ten/ACC challenge. I don't think if you told me that before-mentioned fact even 2-3 years ago, I would believa ya that it's possible

however, here we are. the Big Ten > the ACC, in BASKETBALL. damn it feels great to say that with a straight fase

off to Kansas my thoughts go

UNC looked sloppy last night. roy looked pissed.

that said, the UNC/Kentucky game should be fun this weekend.
