the official 08 NBA playoffs thread

No more koolaid for me? I prefer flavor aid anyways...

Most educated viewers could tell ya Lebron is the greatest player in the league. Plus he doesn't like to rape women. That makes a better overall person anyways. I don't get why anyone would support a rapist.

Oh well, all of the doubters and Lebron haters will see that I am right and Lebron is going to win the championship. Hell, the almost did it last year and besides James and West, the Cavs have no one.

Boston is a joke! They have an all star team and the barely get by Atlanta, they are tied 2-2 with Cleveland and didn't all you fools say Boston was gonna cruise thru the playoffs?

AND I AM THE ONE DRINKING KOOLAID!!!

Ha Ha! Sometimes you guys bury your own grave! Yall are making it to easy for me!

Yeah and next you are gonna try and tell me OJ's not a murderer!!!LOL!

oh yeah dude, he's black and was accused of rape... must have done it. 8)

the whore that accused him refused to testify... the case was dismissed. they had 'consensual' relations, later on she decided they werent so 'consensual.' it either is or it isnt. if she believed so strongly that it wasnt that she would persue it in court as long as she did, why would she refuse to testify? c u next tuesday.

thats just my theory... but i dont care as much as others do. what relevance does that case have to this playoffs anyways? :|

and btw, oj didnt kill nicole, duuuh. he even wrote a book about how he WOULD have done it if he did. pshhhh would he write that book if he killed her??? doooubt it.

:D

, i said it.

hehe look I know he prolly didn't rape the woman. I just think it's funny that he after words he bought his wife that big ass diamond and is basically whipped beyond comprehension now.

He is, however, unfaithful to his wife. You gotta take some character points for that.

But OJ, yeah he murdered his wife. No doubt about it. He had a great lawyer and the media on his side.

Last night sucked, but I have full confidence Cleveland is gonna beat Boston in Cleveland and I think they held their own last night and they can take down Celtics in Boston.

Wasn't Boston supposed to sweep Cleveland according to all these "educated" BL'ers?

word up on all points! and yeah, granted we're down 3-2 in the series right now, but everyone's been saying that this series was basically cruise control for boston. fuck all that. they couldnt cruise through atlanta and they havent cruised through cleveland. win or lose, at least we're not going down without a fight. =D

Ryanlaughlin, my thoughts exactly! Look, even if Cleveland can't beat Boston, you gotta give them mad respect. I mean, Lebron is basically keeping them in this thing. I gurantee if you gave Cleveland one more superstar, they might have already swept Boston!

Kobe's great, no question, but the championship he won (or two I'm not sure), he did kinda have Shaq on his team...

things are looking tough for the Cavs at the moment. I knew going into Game 5 that it really was a must-win situation for Cleveland - and with Boobie Gibson's dislocated shoulder, which will be sidelining him for the next two games, things are even more difficult. Boobie really stepped up for the Cavs last year in the playoffs and his three-point prowess really elevated Cleveland against Detroit last year.

can the Cavs win tonight without Boobie? absolutely, because it is not in Boston. the team really needs other perimeter players like Sczerbiak, Pavlovic, and even Big Z to step up. this far into the playoffs the game really depends on how well your bench does and how many points your bench can score - Boston has done horrible via the bench on the road (even despite Sam Cassel). Cleveland is at its best when the non-Lebrons are draining their 3s, opening up the court for LeBron. I don't think Boston will win at the house that LeBron built (and not to look past tonight) but Game 7 is looming.

yeah with sczerbiak and dilante west... im not TERRIBLY worried. losing gibson is definitely a tough break for us especially considering lebrons trust in going to him. the cavs can play well if they dont rely solely on lebron. the best games they've played this playoffs has been some of lebrons lower scoring games, when they let him drive on the basket then kick the ball out to one of the shooters... its huge. so long as we can make those fucking shots!

my theory, if lebron goes hard to the hole relentlessly and our shooters are on, we'll take the game tonight. if any one part of the machine breaks down, our hopes are gone.

seeya in Game 7 Boston. this time it won't be as easy as the Atlanta Hawks (who were .400 coming in the playoffs and did NOT have LBJ who is gaining more points and more points every game).

Is it a case of Lebron James being that good? Or Boston being that weak?

Maybe Kevin McHale isn't the (only) reason Garnett made it out of the first round only once. Maybe Kevin Garnett is the Neville Chamberlain of professional basketball.

I will say this. If Cleveland advances and beats Detroit (again) it will be fair to say that Lebron James is starting to get close to almost being as good as Kobe Bryant. But of course if James makes it to the NBA Finals, Kobe will swallow him like a Hindu eating a bug.

ok once again with the kobe and lebron comparisons. kobe fans are more narcissistic than kobe himself. i'm a lebron fan but unlike people who seem to adore kobe bryant, i can admit that one is just as good as the other. kobe's a lanky dude, lebrons a big body... their game play looks different because it IS different. hell if you want to consider the fact that both came directly from high school yet lebron scored 10,000 points at age 23 years and 59 days, yet kobe didnt score 10,000 until he was 24 years and 193 days... you could make a fair assessment that lebron got off to a better start in his career than kobe did. kobe came directly onto a playoff team... a team that has made the playoffs every single year that he's been in the league, so its easily arguable that kobe's had a better supporting cast than lebron, who upon entering the league was the cornerstone of the cavaliers franchise and it took only 3 years to turn a team in ruins into a playoff contender built on that cornerstone. if you want to compare career stats, go for it, lebron leads in all the important ones...

lebron james: 27.3 PPG, .467 FG%, 6.9 RPG, 6.6 APG
kobe bryant: 25.0 PPG, .453 FG%, 5.3 RPG, 4.6 APG

lebrons free throw percentage (.728 ) is marginally lower than kobe's (.839) but other than that it could be argued that lebron is a better all around player. the only major difference is points per game in the playoffs where kobe has 33 and lebron i think has something like 26.8. so naturally the only difference between the two that's really any bit sizable are their playoff comparisons and kobe's had much much much more experience in that category. so the only way lebron can gain experience in that category is going to the playoffs often (which he's managed) and going deep in the playoffs (which he's currently working on matching his career best... a finals appearance). i'd say lebron james is every bit as good as kobe. so the 'kobe is vastly superior' attitude is annoying because its not even validated.

why cant anyone talk about one of them without acting as if the other one hasnt "lived up to the hype" or "done anything to deserve the title king james" or yada yada yada... who the fuck cares???

/ironic rant.

I respect your opinion.

However, you... are wrong.

It's like comparing Michael Bolton to Michael Jackson.

ps... I don't respect your opinion. Because it's wrong.
