Shinichirō Watanabe (渡辺 信一郎, Watanabe Shin'ichirō?, born May 24, 1965 in Kyoto) is a Japanese anime filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer. He is known for directing the popular anime series Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.

just watched "howls moving castle". english dub'd.
pretty awesome!!
been watching s-CRY-ed (i think thats the name).. i wanna be an Alter user.. maybe i am??

cowboy bebop

yes! samuri champloo!

dude im the samuri that smells of sunflowers, now lets go fuck!

I'm watching Ergo Proxy right now. So far it shows promise, but I'm only 2 episodes in.

Anime I've watched semi recently, and enjoyed: Darker Than Black, Elfen Lied, High School of the Dead, Black Lagoon (fucking rocks), and Basilisk.

Just finished watching the anime version of Death Note which was awesome, but don't even bother watching the movie version.. it sucked arse big time.

Going to watch Full Metal Alchemist next.

new Berserk anime project is in the works, confirmed yet again in the most recent chapter (321). hopefully it'll start airing as part of the fall season lineup.

apparently a new Rurouni Kenshin anime project has been greenlit too. hopefully that means then entire Jinchu arc will be animated, instead of just part of the fight with enishii (in the Memories ova)! :D

[C] is this current season's best new anime imo.

Finished "The Big O" up, and now I'm re-watching some Inuyasha episodes that I remember missing when it Aired on AdultSwim.

Blood+ is starting to sound tempting to watch..

I love anime, but there is a certain tone that they have to have. I have no love for the young teen, giant eyes and sweat bead humor stuff. For example, I was told I would enjoy Trigun, as a fan of Spaghetti Western films, and post-apocalyptic stuff like Mad Max. The concept seemed great (if not a little played out thanks to the plethora of other fiction set in *GASP* WILD WEST IN SPACE?!)... but the execution was obviously not aimed at me. I just was not the target audience. A 14 year old anime lover was. No hate, just not for me... And since I have had similar experiences with so much anime, I am hesitant often to give new things a shot.

My favorite anime is now, always has been, and likely always will be Neon Genesis Evangelion. I just relate to the characters, in a deeply flawed, human, too human even... kind of way.

I also love Berserk, Mobile Suit Gundam (OG Gundam), Zeta Gundam, and some of the Gundam OVA series (08th MS Team, 0080, 0083 especially).

Oh, and Akira is what got me into anime. In highschool I dated a half Japanese girl who had much love for anime. I was a burgeoning film nerd/snob/collector/etc. and it took something with the sincerity, and innovation of Akira to convince me to give anime a shot. Glad she did.

Finally, no dubs, ever, in anything. Original s/t, with subs, in any film format, is my preference.

I enjoy mostly anime such as Welcome to the N.H.K., Evangelion, Raxhephon (haven't finished), most of the other stuff by Gainax ie FLCL and Abenobashi. I also got into Full Metal Panic! for a bit.

Anime I would like to view would be Colorful (the movie not show) and Summer Wars.

Japanese animation - what should I watch next?

Hello BL! I am an avid fan of Japanese animation but right now I don't know what to watch. I just finished watching the first Evangelion remix movie, it's pretty good but since I watched the TV series, it's redundant since it's the same story. I am looking for something like Wolf's Rain or Code Geass, .Hack, Death Note, El Cazador de la Bruja, Madlax, NOIR, Amatsuki, Tsubasa Chronicles, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Pandora Hearts, Xenosaga: The Animation, Akira, Grave of the Fireflies, Elfen Lied, Naruto Shippuden... I watched all Bleach episodes pass 300 but really got bored of fillers. I am looking for something deep, spiritual, funny SCI-FI or fantasy... something along the lines of the titles I just named. Any suggestions? If you don't know about Japanese animation or think it's childish, seriously, watch Wolf's Rain, Code Geass or Elfen Lied... and Death Note! You can get the Fansubs easily on the Internet... it's really worth it!

Ummm I haven't seen or heard of most of those lol. But I really like Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. :)

tv series: cowboy bebop (awesome show only surpassed by its fucking incredible soundtrack)
film: princess mononoke

Bible black, Akira, Agent Aika, Ikki tousen, High School of the dead, and I could go on and on.
