Megathread The OFFICAL Anime Appreciation Megathread! vers Moshi Moshi

I used to watch samurai pizza cats. Akira is a sick anime flick. Seen some epic anime porn, ass raping aliens and shit like that lol

I like Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, and the first 30 or so episodes of Dragonball. There's an old called I think Berserker which is really awesome, or was it Bloodlust? I don't even know. It had a medieval setting with a guy with a crossbow. Badass. I've seen a few other ones I liked but I don't know if the average person would. Oh! Gantz is the shit. Make sure you watch the right version, with the english dub and no censor.

Samurai Champloo is bad-ass.
Trigun is the fucking most hilarious show i've ever seen.
Cowboy Bebop is a timeless classic.
Can anyone recommend ghost in the shell ?

I think everyone would recommend GiTS, if you can handle an absurd amount of exposition. If you thought Trigun was funny, I'm afraid to even mention Detroit Metal City. You might actually die from laughter.

GITS is great, and there's talk of a new season/movie to come

The first of four planned OVAs has already been released under the Arise title. It's really boss, a classic noir story with the perfect inclusion of the cyberbrain's augmented reality that the previous GiTS works have never managed to get just right.

Berserk had an original series years ago but (very) recently the prequel arc from the manga was adapted to movie format with more arcs to follow. It's very NSFW :D

I've been meaning to watch Gantz but I still have to finish the last few chapters of the manga which finally concluded recently.

You and everyone else :p Shingeki is like this season's SAO

I just started watching it yesterday. I marathoned it from Ep 1 to Ep 16 hahaha! It's awesome I love it! I just hated how people chained the lead character up because he turns into a Titan and fears that he might destroy humanity when he has been helping them all along. Just shows how pathetic and crazy humans are sometimes lols

Elfen Lied was great I just wish it didn't end so abruptly. Serial Experiments Lain is also a good choice.

I'm watching Ergo Proxy right now and am liking it allot; almost done with it.

serial experiments: lain is fucking weird in a great way, and they made a third installment of the evangelion rebuild series several months ago.

ebola

Gotta see that evangelion rebuild!!!! have you seen it?

^I saw it. Even with the changes to the storyline its getting to the point where things are getting pretty abstract and disengaging. I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous two rebuild films, both of which represented major improvements to my mind, though the production values remain stunning.

I've been meaning to finish Serial Experiments Lain. I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch from the start, sober this time, because there's so much to take in despite how slow the story seems to move. Animatrix was really an excellent film in the same vein of consciousness-challenging sci-fi. It's a collection of shorts set in the Matrix universe but it expands into a bunch of different avenues with different art styles and brings so much depth to the whole idea underlying the Matrix. It's really a feast for all of your senses (minus touch, obviously).

I loved everything about the third Rebuild. For one, the OST is sombre and awesome. For two, the plot was so completely unexpected that it took me a while just to digest what I had seen. There are so many questions posed, and I bet in an homage to NGE most will probably not even be addressed in the final Rebuild but at the very least it's one hell of a build-up to what will come next.

The trailer is worth a watch just to hear the Ending theme which is pure sex on a hot skillet

I mean to watch it again, probably in a *more* sober mind state. The animation in the rebuilds is easily some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Nobody does gloriously vivid hyper-kinetic anime like Gainax. Studio Ghibli may produce superior animation overall, but so far as visually communicating visceral inertia or directing and editing sequences to maximize their dynamic impact is concerned nobody matches Gainax, and the studio has clearly spared no expense refining their flagship series.
