The next big scene

There's been a heroin scene in Philly for decades now, but unless you're in the scene or live in an open air market, you wouldn't know about it. I grew up about 3 miles away from the open air markets and was completely oblivious to it. I mean, it's not in the news and there aren't shows about it on tv(e.g. like the wire). It was all quite surprising and overwhelming when I first found out that scene existed and just how big it was.

I hope heroin blows up, it prolly wont but I hope that the use becomes socially acceptable

I'd give my life if it meant future heroin users wouldnt have to deal with the pain of being stereotyped and the horrible stigma.

^Yes I agree about the stigma. If I ever tell anyone about heroin use they flip out, no matter how many other opiates they use. That's why I moslty keep it to myself.

But to add to my post earlier about psychedelics making a comeback, and RCs making their appearance, I think it will happen in both the electronic scene and the jamband scene. Psytrance and jambands are becoming increasingly popular from what I see.

what about drugs like marijuana and alcohol? everyone I know consumes those. who knows? only time will tell.
everyone has always consumed those on top of other drugs though.

saying pharms is the next big scene is a lame answer because pharms include basically everything... methamphetamine, amphetamine (speed), cocaine even, morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, all opioids basically except heroin. but i guess our generation is the pharm generation, benzos, stimulants, antidepressants, etc. but not really a scene tho, more like how our society has transformed.

next big drug that will be the new thing or fad or scene will be psychedelics. i'm sure of it. maybe not tho. but its not going to be uppers or benzos or opioids or cannabis, well actually cannabis could be the next scene, especially with all the modern growing techniques and all the thousands of hybrid strains. the quality of cannabis is increasing and so is the knowledge about it, cannabis connoisseurs are growing in numbers. but its not really a scene as it is a lifestyle because cannabis is really a unique "Drug".

next scene will be LSD and RC psychedelics.

swift, breaks are dead bro...

The breaks scene in perth is fucken enormous, it's easily THE biggest sub culture in the city. In fact far from dying off it's only getting stronger, Breakfest, the premier breaks gig branched off the Down south Breakfest last year, and we're seriously getting a phenominal amount of international DJ's here week in, week out, from what I gather it's the same in melbourne...

but that's just my little corner of the world...

Thanks for alot of the repiles......

And I was asking for the next big SCENE!!!!!!!! as in drug scene, drug culture . . . . . .

Not the next big drug..........."GOD, IDIOTS!"

*Said in the Napoleon Dynamite Voice*

I was lookin for discussion on what the next big drug scene will look like..it's like a sci fi writer writing a book about the FUTURE

Or a movie set in the FUTURE.......pshhh whatever

drug scene's go hand in hand with musical scene's man, if you can't see that well... god, idiots. stop eating all the steaks

Oh ok, well in Sydney, electro/house well and truly dominates the scene right now, and has done for a little while.

Sure there's still clubs running breakbeat nights, but it's not the dominant sound that it once was.

Take Field Day/Parklife for example. They used to be well known as primarily breakbeat events. These days most of the artists are electro/house.

Future Music is another perfect example, there were something like seven stages. One was trance, one was breaks, the rest were mostly electro and house, with one progressive tech I think (Sweet Chilli). The breaks stage was the smallest, and was kinda empty.

Like I said, that's Sydney, not Perth, so it could be different there.

Even Kid Kenobi has switched to DJ'ing electro/house.

And that's not to take away from the quality of breaks as a genre, it's just not in the same peak phase of popularity it was in a few years ago.

I must admit, the style of breaks has changed over the last few years, but essentially it's still breaks, even kenobi - who plays here regularly has a much different sound, but I wouldn't say it was house like, definitely still breaks...

We have this thread already.

I don't see a completely new drug "taking over." I just see the older well known ones ebbing and flowing in popularity. See current coke popularity in Europe...
