The next big scene

Axl Blaze said:
I get asked this question a lot and I honestly do not know what the next big influential drug will be. it may very well be cocaine again. it could easily become MDMA and psychs. what about drugs like marijuana and alcohol? everyone I know consumes those. who knows? only time will tell.

I think we may be coming to an era where marijuana is used past one's youth by many many people. Same thing with coke. The stigma may be melting for using these things past one's youth.

I think it depends on what happens in the country and world to determine what will be next.

what about the 80's? the OP just skipped over that. for me it was alcohol and weed

I was born in 84 so I didnt really live the 80's but...Ok so what big music scenes were there in the 80's?

There was nu wave......i dont know what drugs were used with nu wave, alot of coke?

For you, you were all about weed n alcohol....the metal scene which rose in the 80's was all about the feel good drugs, mostly weed, and alot of alcohol, some coke and heroin if you were hardcore......I would say there was not alot of psychedelics used in the metal scene........

im thinking maybe dissociatives will get bigger ketamine is getting massivley popular and good ol dxm has quite the following. lots of people are into salvia like myself and all that negative stigma surrounding pcp doesnt seem to be as big as earlier times all we need is some new desighner dissociative or something to get things going. and i could really see dissociatives inspring some fucked up music. and dissociative partys would be neat

psychedellics are getting real big too. if you look at the community that are into some of the rc's even dissociatives deleriants and other lesser known psychedellics coult tie in together to make some kind of scene

im also noticing lots and lots of people using pharmaceuticals like benzos and opiates and other stuff. that could possibly influence something

I think theres going to be a massive freedom of expression movement now that govt's have started locking down on even 'normal' citizens law abiding citiznes

drugs would be part of it, but not the driving force

The 80s didn't have a music/drug scene. In the 80s it was hip to be square.

I think the next scene is going to be internet/MMORPG/virtual reality based parties combined with psychedelic and meth use. I think it'll take off in Asia instead of Europe/USA though.

Haha, that's a good one. Probably not that far around the corner either, which is a little scary.

^as if they didn't treat "normal" people like crap before. They just treat drug users worse so it seems like they treat "normal" people well. And for the record, a drug user isn't "abnormal" in any way

thats why i said 'normal' instead of normal

Yeah, I used to play both EQ and WoW and also have done a massive amount of meth over the past several years; but my MMORPG addiction and meth addiction rarely crossed paths. I played MMORPGs when I was clean and quit them when I would go back on meth. It would be a horrific combo though...I could easily see myself or any number of net-nerds using methamp. to binge on their game of choice for day after day of retina-burning fun. Those games are very competetive and whoever logs the most time played is normally the biggest badass in those net-social-circles... I seriously doubt that meth+MMORPGs will become any kind of fad though. Maintaining a meth habit normally requires sacrificing many of the prerequisites that are needed to maintain a MMORPG habit so I doubt many people would be able to maintain both for long. Then we'll just be left with a bunch a tweekers again....except there will be a larger nerd-tweeker demographic and (hopefully) a smaller redneck-tweeker demographic.

I really wouldn't be surprised if RCs do become the predominant substances, the psychadelic revolution occurs again; but the scene remains rave/techno. Currently I know more people that use RCs at events regularily than rolls.

PS. However, I don't really see MDMA leaving the scene for a long while yet...at least not in my area.

I don't see ecstasy going away any time soon either. But it definitely seems like it's on the way out, or at least on the decline. Ever since the rap scene here in the Bay Area came up with that whole "hyphy" thing; part of which is taking MDMA, cutting it with all sort of dirty crap, and selling it as "thizz"; there's been something of a backlash against it in the rave scene. It's also driving pill prices up and (obviously) quality down.

Oh, you'll still see plenty of people rolling. But they're a less numerous and less obvious about it. Some of the old school e-tards react with a slight embarrassment when you ask them if they're rolling, and with outright disgust and hostility if they're asked if they're "thizzing". And it takes a fair lot to provoke someone on MDMA into hostility.

But psychedelics are making a comeback pretty hardcore. Mushrooms have burst forth from the psytrance side of the scene and are all over the place. Various psychedelic RCs I hadn't even *heard of* before are going around at parties. And even acid and 2CB are readily available at decent prices again.

^Yeah, fortunately clean MDMA isn't too hard to come by for people with real drug connections in the midwest....though I suppose clean rolls would be hard to find for the average party-goer.

I am quite mad about the meth-bomb issue though; I can't fucking take any rolls/molly if the source doesn't also have a history with meth like me and has tried the MDMA batch and can verify for me that there isn't any fucking crank in there. (Essentially I only know a couple people I can get MDMA from and feel safe using it.) On top of that, the use of meth as a common cut does (rightfully so) scare many people away from trying/using MDMA.

Ohwell, at least I can count on the RCs sticking around. Just found an extremely well-stocked and affordable source of 2C-B last weekend. Also have been getting DOI recently and there are prospects for some tryptamines and more DOx in the near future. I really hope that psychadelics really do burst back onto the scene and completely overshadow meth. I can't wait till that drug loses all of it's media hype and becomes neglected by the majority of society. Methamp. deserves obscurity IMO.
