Has anyone here personally experienced symptoms of B12 deficiency as a result of nitrous oxide use? The links to cases on Wikipedia talk about heavy, chronic use resulting in severe symptoms.
mmmmm I am hesitant to post this but i think its important as most have a view that nitrous use is harmless.
For a period of time i'd end each intensive work day with 12box's of bulbs what a great wind down this went on for about 12 months. after this for a period of approx 6 months I consumed 24 - 120 box's of N2O daily......
Suffered a number of medical setbacks including most notably peripheral neuropathy that was so incredibly painful for a period of time i was on endone to manage the pain, ending up taking lyrica to keep things manageable.
kinda hard to explain but i found this explanation below to make sense.
Imagine when your television isnt tuned in correctly and your using a analogue receiver then imagine your nerve endings sending that fuzzy signal to your brain 24/7. its not acutely painful but when it never stops it tends to send one a bit insane. upon touch you can still differentiate between the fuzzy feeling and actual sense….
Other strange things were tiny ulcers on the tongue and in mouth, small lesions. Only solution to this was Flagyl. If you have never had this drug wish you don't its horrible, but works.
I'll have to dig up the article i read somewhere awhile back about how B12 deficiency from abuse of N2O changes the outer structure nerves which causes the neuropathy, some say its permanent, i have not found this however.
12-18 months later i still have some loss of sensation in my feet but generally i feel i've made a full recovery, other then the financial strain estimated 75k-150k.
Was it fun. Sure. Always enjoyable easy to forget lifes woes when nanging. But after the financial and health implications in hindsight i'd never consider going down that path again.
At first it seems innocuous but certainly if you have a means to afford it things can quickly get out of hand.
Hope this helps someone.
