The most disturbing film you have seen?

Clockwork Orange has my vote...that film just disturbed me so much, couldn't sleep properly for ages. Loved it regardless though.
I found American Psycho vaguely disturbing too, but nothing comparable.

^Reading American Psycho is much more disturbing than watching the movie. The movie is actually kind of fun. I listened to it on audio book and have to wonder how many recordings it took for the voice actor to get through some of those passages about the rat ...

I know, I was told the book is insanely worse than the film...morbid curiosity really makes me want to read it but I wanna be able to sleep in the next few weeks haah

aNY rOB zOMBIE MOVIE!!!!! - 1000 CORPSES, DEVILS REJECTS, HALLOWEEN!

^ You're out of your league here. But that is good, because you are not yet dead on the inside.

A Serbian Film had its disturbing parts

Serbian Film is actually a pretty good movie. I was planning to watch it again, but my laptop was stolen last month and I lost my collection of disturbing films. I can only hope that the thief decided to kick back and watch some of them before pawning it.

After all is said and done, excluding anything actually real, Men Behind the Sun was probably the hardest one ever to watch.

The most disturbing movie I have ever seen is Hostel. It was disturbing because it was something that could really be happening.

The two most disturbing movies I can remember were

The War Zone
- I felt depressed for days after watching this. No movie has ever made me feel like killing myself but this was so disturbing & depressing.

Come & See
- One of my favourites as it is just so real & uncompromising. Not a good idea to hire this at age 10 from the video store.

While I kind of liked House of 1000 Corpses, and I loved The Devil's Rejects, the only thing that disturbed me about Halloween was how badly he butchered the original. Then I saw Halloween II and realized that Rob Zombie has lost his damn mind. That piece of shit made his first Halloween look like Citizen Kane in retrospect. Both were terrible movies, but Halloween 2 reached new levels of stupidity.

"Come and See" looks pretty spectacular.
I'm in the camp that finds it difficult to be bothered by anything that's fiction.
Human Centipede, Hostel..... Bah.

What I've tried and cannot deal with is the real life stuff. I've been a victim of friends who a handful of times have called me over to, "look at this!" Suicides, executions, bombing aftermaths, etc. I've also sought out the shit a few times and regretted it each time.
I stay away now. Though the images are burned into my memory. I could give you nearly a second to second account of most the things I've seen.
My question would be, why is it that I can't deal with those images and others can? Who has the defect? Is it a defect or is it just a matter of what you can stomach? I'm just asking for opinion(s). I don't know. It's something I think about.

A Serbian Film

A Requiem for a Dream is really disturbing because one of my fears is losing a limb, so is getting sectioned !

Sick Nurses was pretty disturbing.

I watch these movies, enhanced by sensitizing drugs, in order to confront my psyche with the difficult truths of human nature such that if I should be in a situation where I or others might act in these ways I would be prepared to both recognize and mitigate the situation -- but I'm sure there's also a degree of simply morbid curiosity at work as well. I also want to be able to draw out the dark side of myself so I can understand and, hopefully, control it. So for me it's, on the surface at least, about moral obligation, though I must admit I occasionally get a twisted thrill out of it.

I can see what you're saying. To my mind, putting yourself through that sounds very much like a real life version of the scene from A Clockwork Orange. But, I can see how repeated exposure would give you the effect you're looking for.
I suppose, as far as the morbid curiosity factor goes, it's just varying degrees.
I certainly have it, too. Mine's just satisfied by something less extreme. Or smaller doses, in context.
With all that said, I still think you're a sick fuck. JK. :D.
Thank you for answering my question.
Do you have a "favorite" type of scene? Wide ranging? Or just whatever you come across?

No movie has bugged me more since childhood then "The Exorcist." I know it's been repeated to death, but no other movie sticks with me like it. Such a odd feel to it.

just watched August Underground and August Underground Mordum the other day pretty heavy stuff a lot more brutal and disturbing than Megan Is Missing. What do you think would top the August Underground series ?
