The miserable old bastards thread...

'glove monkey' haha!!. Why do people who's job it is to supply others who do the actual work act like your asking for their first born child when you request a new shirt or pair of boots? It's not coming out of their fucking wages is it?
Try working in a factory and needing an order form to get some stuff out of stores. Then realising you've run out of blank order forms with which to request some more order forms from stores, where they are kept ..... And the stores nazis won't let anything out of their sight without a properly-filled-in order form .....

Eesh... Don't say 'Stores Nazi' if Felix is listening.... He won't like it. (nb.i did not realise Felix worked in stores when I posted that :))

One thing I don't get though is that at my place people are issued with certain kit on the day they start and if they leave or fail the course or whatever then all their kit is binned. Now if that's a uniform that includes things like socks, boots etc. I can understand it but a £300 kevlar crash helmet that's supposed to be worn while attending RTCs that they've never actually used makes no sense at all....

Heh, what is it about stores people? Ours is also a right miserable bastard - he makes you wait for ages, questions everything you need (apparently "to do my fuckin job ya daft cunt" isn't a good enough answer) and never smiles. I reckon he's probably got a complex from not being made 'milk monitor' at school...

It has to be the same everywhere FUBAR you would sometimes think it was coming out of their own pockets. though the last place i was in everytime they got batteries in he always brought me some around for my walkman so sometimes its better to humour them and get onside.

Now that reminds me of an apprentice we had called 40watt as he wasn't the brightest but when he started he was sent to the stores for a set of Fallopian tubes and to his credit the storeman with a straight face just said you go and see the nurse son.

I have had the same problem with stores nazis at the hospital. I remember trying to get a few extra mobile iv poles for the ward at one stage as we had ambulant patients hooked up to iv drips attached to the bed poles but no spare mobile iv poles for the ward. The stores nazi wouldn't give me any extra as we had enough on the ward already according to him. Even a request from the nurse unit manager fell on deaf ears so we ended up having to go "borrow " some from another ward. Ridiculous situation for a major public hospital.

Haha, it's quite alright. I only took a glove monkey job offshore (at a career level far below my abilities/experience) for a few years to pay the bills. Some of those people are the laziest bunch of thieving useless cunts I've ever met and I don't actually identify myself as one of them. (He says, currently unemployed... :|)

It's a sad fact of life that many people are working jobs far below their abilities/capabilities. Cameron's Britain...

It's nice to see you posting here curious_24, I always had the suspicion you were a miserable old bastard :p

I was quite glad when he moved to the North Sea actually in global terms its quite safe...well maybe not the helicopter journeys to work :\ Before that he was working in joyous countries like Libya, Angola, Nigeria, Siberia and was just about to go to well dodgy oil regions of Pakistan bordering Iran and Afghanistan too ... :(

Fucking mental places, mental job in those places too. Oil workers were getting kidnapped and killed, the compounds like fortresses covered in barbed wire and towers with armed guards. They actually had machine gun armed guards take them to work :|

He might have seen it as a career step down, I seen it as keeping my husband alive for longer. So glad he's out of that game altogether now.

I'm sure Felix could roar at them with a Scottish accent and go all Braveheart if needed. ;)

That man has to be the second loveliest man I've ever met, And I'm a pretty scary person but I would NEVER cross that man. He can be scary and lovely in equal measures.

I'd say with Felix it comes down to, treat others as you wish to be treated. Same with his beautiful wife. xx Thankfully, I love them both very much <3

^^
That's very kind of you Sadie x

Ha, the only time I've ever seen Felix in angry, scary Scottish mode has been on the motorbike. In particular we got lost in central Paris in rush hour and the traffic was hell. Well you know what they drive like there 8(

Someone nearly had us off the bike, I thought this is it I'm going to lose a leg, we're going to crash. I was so scared.. But fuck did he give that driver some attitude and a right shouting at 8) The guy was scared as fuck 8o

I've also had a few strong words for doing yoga (at the wrong time :o) as a pillion fed up and sore. Apparently I nearly caused an accident and I've knocked the V-Strom over a few times being "inexperienced" getting on and off...

Apart from that he's my sweetheart, the kindest most loving man in the whole world.

Just don't fuck with him on that motor bike :D :sus:

Aww thanks, my lovelies. <3 Right back at ye.

Haha :D

The only time I had to unleash my inner Braveheart (while working abroad) was at one of the police escorts in Nigeria. We were being driven through the jungle on a bouncy, muddy track in a Land Cruiser, and he somehow thought it was OK to keep leaving his rifle propped up behind him pointing at my fucking FACE. :!

Ah wait, there was another time in Libya when one of our drivers thought it was OK to cut someone off at high speed when merging onto a highway, and I put a verbal rocket up him for being so fucking recklessly stupid. I'm sure he had no idea what I was on about though.
