I've just been reading through the thread and thought I'd share a little of my story. Had never been physically addicted to anything before I started Kratom, and I quickly got hooked. I'd use different brands, the crushed powder in gel caps, and it got out of control, at one point almost 60 grams a day, or at least a whole 30 gram bag and most of another. Spent an ungodly amount of money on it. Any trip or family vacation, or any time I was gonna be out of my comfort zone would cause anxiety, because I had to plan ahead, make sure I had enough to last and that I could hide it somewhere.
I realize that is a stupid amount of Kratom to take, but wanted to share this: I have had multiple seizures late at night, after a long day of Kratom binging, (I usually didn't eat anything all day to keep my buzz up, and also at night I'd take three Benadryl, it seemed to boost my Kratom buzz). My girlfriend found me having a seizure, I didn't even believe her after the fact, except that my chin was busted wide open.
She took me to the ER, I had every test done that they do when somebody has a seizure, everything came up completely normal. I know it was the Kratom because it only happened at a specific time at night after I had taken over my regular dosage. I probably had 8 or 9 seizures before I finally admitted to myself I had no control over it.
The W/Ds sucked, bad, but it's only a few days, and it is nothing compared to waking up in the morning feeling like I have control over my life again.
I'm not saying this to bad mouth Kratom, it can be good if used responsibly, just as a caution to anybody reading this, who finds their use escalating.
In my opinion, Inthink thar thr seizures are more likely to be a consequence of not eating than of the kratom. I'm not saying that it isn't possible for Kratom to give people seizures. As others have said we don't know enough about Kratom n so it's worth bring it to people's attemtion, as It's a Harm Reduction site n to try n keep users safe.
I hope I'm not coming across as blunt here n I make no apologies for the comtents as I feel that some vulnerable people may read your post n possibility think "this member has got a buzz from kratom by not eating all day long, so that's what I'll do n I'll get a buzz get a buzz from kratom too," addiction distorts rational thinking when it comes to substances). I feel that you are being silly by not eating. You're depriving your body of vital nutrients to do basic things such as sleeping, your body will eat itself; eat the muscle n every time you do eat you will gain weight because the body goes into survival mode m tells it to store it in the fat cells for times of famine. Your immune system will become weaker meaning you're more likely to get ill more often.
You may get have a deficiency of vitamin B1 (thismine) or vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) which can bring on seizures. Low magnesium levels, which can result from poor nutrition n, or other factors, can be a cause of seizures.
You also may become anaemic
I've just re-read your post (bare with me I've little sleep due to 3-FPM) n notice you say ER staff tested you. Do you know exactly what tests they did n you n can you please post them? I'm interested in whether they tested your nutritional levels or not. Did you tell them that you used Kratom?
Also I'm unfamiliar with the substance, Benadryl so when you write "I took 3 benadryls" it doesn't really tell me anything. Please can you tell me what it is, what dosage you took n whether it exceeds what the daily recommended dosage is. It may be possiblr that you had a seizure because of the Benadryl or the interaction of Benadryl with Kratom n even the interaction of kratom, Benadryl with no possible vitinamin deficiency. See whete I'm going with this, ot's not so clear cut yet people will read this n jump to the conclusion that kratom causes seizures.
I'm sorry I'm honestly not trying to be funny n do appreciate you taking time to post this for us as you have have saved some from an ordeal, however, when someone claims that they had seizures because of a substance they took, n wants to warn others it's vital that all the factors are taken into consideration m either rule out, or note, as affecting the probability of the substance being the primary cause. And bevause, although you n I are strangers, I would hate the isea of something causing you to be ill that you may unaware of.
I'm rambling now but thank you n I hope you feel better n please start eating properly
