Kratom The Kratom Megathread

My tolerance reduced substantially essentially overnight. Has anyone heard about that happening to anyone else? I was taking 16 g 3-4 times a week, now I'm taking 10 and I don't feel like I need more than two times a week. I'm using the same stuff, same vendor, same method. The only change in my life is I temporarily got off lexapro, got on vilazodone for a month, then got on lexapro again. It's only one data point but I figured I'd post it in case viibryd somehow reduces kratom tolerance and more people experience it. Very strange, though.

I already did it but I'm starting to bug myself out thinking I'm might die because I know it not good to mix benzos and opiates.

Ugh, I am one of those unlucky ones that gets the nasty w/d from kratom. I have w/d from oxy and opana in the past, Opana is worse than this, but oxy wasn't as bad. It feels like that dirty, been on WAY to much tramadol w/d's, like Kleo_margo said, no motivation, blah, irritable, plus I get the 'dreads' really bad. For those who get get little or no w/d's from this stuff, lucky you! I don't even think it has to do with past opiate/opioid experience; I have tons unfortunately. Just as it is 'hit-or-miss' as to how this stuff 'gets you off', so it seems to be with w/d also. C'mon Monday, c'mon mail.

Ehh I used to be a heavy heroin, methadone user and 5 grams of kratom still has me feeling nice even after 7-8 months of using it

P'raps you have better quality stuff then I. Also, I don't know if kratom is like a lot of drugs in that it works on a mg/kg basis, but I've noticed cuz I'm 6'5", 260 pounds, it takes more of most everything compared to the average person.

Kratom doesn't cause respiratory depression, so there's actually no cause for concern. 7-OHM and mitragynine are opioids, meaning they hit the same receptors as opiates like morphine and codeine, but they're different in some ways.

That said, I'd be careful mixing kratom with downers anyway.

Can anyone expand on what jayjay said about the health consequences from using kratom? I've been using about 10g a day for the past couple months for chronic pain issues. Haven't really had problems with tolerance, and taking just a day or two off seems to go a long ways for resetting (so far). It's pretty much been a godsend for me since tramadol had a lot of nasty side effects and I have zero noticeable side effects using kratom. That said, I might have to quit using it if there are legitimate health risks associated with its use.

Any further thoughts?

I've done a fair amount of research into Kratom, as I use it regularly myself, and have found nasty side effects seem to be rare and far apart. That said, it is poorly understood and researched compared to more mainstream substances. I also used to use tramadol myself, and I feel, IMHO, that it has worst potential side effects than kratom. I am not a doctor tho, but like I said, I heavily research stuff before I put it in me. Also, Erowid has a comprehensive kratom page that has a side effect section. Hope this helps. @jayjay12 Ya buddy, you were a little manic when you wrote that. Perhaps you could clarify it a little. It seems to have some real HR value, but is a touch confusing, LOL.

%) This isn't meant to be a bump; this is a different Kratom observation. The main thing that I find disapointing about Kratom is its short duration. Well, I have found something that's works for me, that some of you might try to increase duration without tampering with your liver using WGFJ or Tagamet. My dose is usually about 4-5 gms of regular powered leaf, from a reputable vendor. Strain color doesn't seem to matter with this. I will take just 2 grams, then prepare a medium size meal with something fatty in it. I think this is important, because Kratom alkaloids are lipid(fat) soluble. About 10 minutes after I eat, I take 6-7 grams more of Kratom. It sets in after about 30-45 minutes and lasts about 6 hours. Normally, I get 2-3 tops. This seems safer than tinkering with my body chemistry, you know. I've done this about 10 times now, with consistant results.:) Thoughts?

Ya i always get long duration from kratom, and i think that is because I eat before use. For me kratom kinda ruins my appetite and I love to eat so I never really take it on an empty stomach. I am always kinda shocked when people say it lasts so short because i can both feel and see it (pupils, appetite, lack of hornyness etc..) effecting me for a long time. Also i dont think it will shorten your life if your other health habits remain normal to good.

:\ Does anyone besides me find Kratom to be constipating? Maybe it was just the perfect storm, because I have severe intestinal issues. I have chronic pain, but it's sidekick (depression) is even worse. Opiate trials through PM have caused my bowels to shut down even further.

I tried Kratom (Maeng Dai) last summer. I ordered capsules because I projectile vomit on cue...knew I couldn't toss 'n wash. I took 5 (600 mg capsules) per day, as 3 grams seemed to be right for me.

I can say that it made me feel "comfortably numb" and productive. During those 2 weeks our babygirl Dalmatian died suddenly. I was upset, but not to the level I would have been if not for the Kratom. Sadly, my constipation intensified to the point of hospitalization for 6 days. I had a partial obstruction that although cleared with IV fluids, etc. It still has not resolved.

Kratom is fiber, right? But is it a soluble fiber? I realize these are newb questions, but please help me. My gut is a train wreck of disease, surgeries, chemo and decades-long agony. I've lost hope of ever getting better. I can't tolerate the opiates. I take Zoloft, but I'm in a dark place.

FWIW...I suffered liver failure in 1994 from a blockage of the common bile duct. I've never used drugs recreationally. I simply cannot take the pain meds and function, physiologically. I can't eat, sleep or poop.

Many folks suffer some type of opiod constipation with Kratom. I have been lucky in that my gut seems to like the fiber in Kratom and it keeps me regular. Kratom can be dehydrating, which can worsen constipation, so drink LOTS of water and healthy juices. That can help, and it will help keep your liver happier. In an extreme case, there is a Rx med called Movantix, which will remove the opioids from your bowel receptors without messing withe the ones in your brain. It is a analog of naloxone that can't pass the BBB. Talk to your PM doc, they should know it. Hope I could help. Feel free to PM me or ask more on this thread if you have more questions. J

Hey RT...THANK YOU so much for your post. I am guilty of drinking too much caffeine (also dehydrating) and not enough water. I've changed that habit somewhat since partial bowel blockage. Between the Miralax and the Kratom, that explains the "sucking" noises I heard in my body...those 2 were trying to "pull" in liquids to move stool, I guess.

I'm drinking 4 (16 oz.) glasses of water daily before I allow myself to drink caffeine. That's probably still not enough, but I'm trying. The GI also started me on Linzess 290 per day. It causes totally (liquid) explosive bowel movements. I asked my PM about the Movantik. He said it was too expensive and insurance balks at approval. Meanwhile back at the ranch...I'm wishing for a dirt nap.

Whenever I take kratom, I already know I'm in for bloating and constipation. It can last days and it's such a relief when I can finally go to the bathroom. If it gets that bad, I take magnesium citrate laxative. That liquid will clear you right out. I have also found that exercising, crunches, jogging etc, gets the bowels moving.

Oh and prune juice works like a charm if you don't want to take magnesium citrate laxative.

Yes, im always severley clogged up with a 20-40g a day kratom habit. I use more drugs to compensate, stims and GBL work wonders, but obviously that would be terrible advice for someone with your health issues. I presume you've tried the obvious things like Milk of Magnesium, that stuff is miraculous believe me. It should be gentle on your body too.

Any habitual Kratom users ever try Stem and Vein? I hear that it compeletey resets tolerance and speeds up the brains recovery time by 50%. I dunno what to believe. I guess if you want to continue with kratom it could serve a purpose but is it not generally the case that after a couple óf doses your tolerance goes right back to where it was before (applies to all opis afaik, probably many other things too). I guess the speeding up of recovery time could be helpful. But ive already acquired some bupe and was gonna use that to do a quick taper.

Any thoughts, Anyone?
