Kratom The Kratom Megathread

Are you sure you got a digital scale for weighing small objects and not a cooking one :D cos even the cheapest of the cheap digital scales will weight to 0.03g. They are called jewellery scales I think.

It's called a "Digital GEM 0.1 X 1000 Gram Diamond Pocket Lab Scale".

I ASSUMED that meant it would weigh things as light as 0.1 grams...that's what that sounds like right??

But unless I put things on it that are like at least 2.0 grams they don't even register at all.

Maybe I'm using the scale wrong, and it doesn't even come with directions, but I doubt it since it looks fairly straight forward.

I think it must just be a piece of shit.

It only cost my like $6.

Read the manual for your scale - you'll need to get a weight of a known mass (usually something like 50 or 100gm) and weigh it on your scale when you put it into calibration mode. Don't half-ass it by stacking pennies or anything like that, get a real brass weight off Amazon or wherever.

If it's a $6 scale don't expect it to be a Swiss precision instrument. The trick you might have to use to weight things of a small mass is adding something like a coin or rock or something to bring the scale into the middle of its measurement range, then add whatever you're measuring the weight of and calculate the weight from the difference.

^^^^

The scale didn't even come with a manual so I don't know how to put it in calibration mode.

I could mess with it and see if I can figure it out but I'm not sure how I'd know if it was in calibration mode.

I thought of the idea of putting something on it and calculating the difference and maybe I'll try that, but it seems like it's probably just a piece of crap and might not work too well though I don't know much about these things.

hi can someone please give me some advice... i take bali crushed leaf... one teaspoon 4 times a day... for about 2 1/2 months... what kind of withdrawals am i looking at if i stop?

Probably crappy ones lol. But everyone is different. Usually physical symptoms like chills, sweats, restlessness, runny nose, watery eyes, yawning, etc will last for 3-5 days, and each day should be noticeably better, especially after the 2nd day. The mental symptoms such as anxiety, depression, anhedonia, apathy and fatigue (I consider fatigue both mental and physical) - may last up to the 7 day mark, or up to the 14 day mark... or perhaps not much at all besides the first few days alongside the physical symptoms. It is difficult to say as everyone is different. I would plan to stop on a friday and hibernate over the weekend, possibly taking off of work Monday and maybe even Tuesday if you can.

There are both natural and also, if really needed, pharmaceutical remedies that can help both the physical and mental symptoms.

I've been taking around 2 tsp of kratom (various strains such as bali and different thais) twice a day everyday for about 6 months. I ran out a few days ago and my shipment was late. I went about 60 hours without kratom and felt no noticeable withdrawals, surprisingly. Maybe they would have arrived after that, though.

For those who have taken and withdrawn from anti depressants are the withdrawals form kratom better or worse than anti depressants, cos having tried nearly every weak shit herb under the sun and having them do nothing kratom and anti depressants are pretty much my last options in terms of promising candidates to ameleorate this mind crushing depression.

Yes but kratom dependency is thought to be mild compared to other opiates and anti depressants are said to cause some extreme mental upset on cessation, hence why I was asking for a comparison in 'net pain' for each.

Ie what would each amount to out of ten?

It is a shot in the dark though. Depends how much you were taking of each and for how long. Everyone reacts differently etc. Pretty sure kratom effects dopamine levels and an ssri/snri obviously works on serotonin. I would rather cold turkey a 10-20g/day kratom habit than an ssri but thats just me personally. Any kratom habit that doesn't consist of some extra potent extract should be relatively controllable if it's kept to 10g or less per day. YMMV

Yeah it still sucks though... I have been going through it on and off for quite some time now. Kratom withdrawal can be anything from mildly annoying to horrific and unimaginably painful. I have experienced various points along the spectrum. I have in the past also withdrawn from Zoloft... from a taper. From what I remember, that wasn't fun either, but totally doable. Ever since a bad acid trip a year ago though, it seems quitting and staying away from any drug, along with looking at life in a positive way in general, is harder for me.

^^

Pretty different.. can't really compare the two. Anti depressants don't actually cause a real physical dependency, which Kratom can.

I'm sure you know more about this then me, but let me say that cutting my SSRI dosage in half 10 years ago resulted in 4 months of HORRIBLE insomnia.

It's not totally true that SSRIs don't cause dependency, at least if WDs are any kind of sign of dependency which I think they are.

If that's the case, I don't know what Kratom withdrawals are like, but I hear they only last like 10 days, not 4 months.

Either way, they'd both suck.

a question - if Kratom is in capsules, how long does it take to kick in? my apologies if this question has been asked before. I'm in a rush

I've always noted crap quality from Kratom capsules personally. Only tried one brand of capsules though.

A quality online vendor takes the same powdered kratom they sell and simply does the leg work for you at an extra dollar or so per oz. No difference in quality. Most people get capsules at headshops though and at that point it's all crap. Bricked up old brown weed isn't as good as fresh and kratom is the same.
